What sanctioning body do you feel is the most legitimate? I understand we are fans and may not know all the ins and outs of these organizations.
At the present, history BS aside, I personally feel the IBF is the most legitimate. They do not appear to be making up belts for no apparent reason (i.e. interim, regular, super, and franchise champions). They have only ONE world champion per division. They appear to make a good attempt to have boxers on an even playing field with re-hydration clauses after weigh in.
Thoughts?
Have only one world championship belt in each weight class, period.
And only one set of rankings.
With only one, transparent rulebook. Compile it out of the best practices of the IBF with whatever tweaks might be needed to make it absolutely top notch.
Problem solved.
But someone will come along to say how they actually like having 4 world champions and unification fights.
To anyone saying IBF, I know their ratings and enforcement of mandatories has been very consistent, but that's all irrelevant when their rankings are complete sht. Somehow scrubs from obscure countries no one has heard of become number one contenders.
Also, their mandatories usually get in the way of big money fights or unifications that people want to see. So it makes sense that a fighter would rather dump their IBF belt for a big fight rather than take on some dude named Sjfiqofifwkchenkowitz from who knows where.
Again, the IBF rankings are complete sht because the promoters don't want consistent ratings and enforcement.
They would rather be able to manipulate the rankings for their fighters so they steer them down the path of the WBA, WBO and WBC instead.
We should encourage more of the IBF procedures in boxing. It's the scammer promoter mentality that we need to discourage.
The only possible critique of the IBF is that the mandos are often weak. That is because the IBF doesnt just make you a mando because your promoter handed over an envelope. To become ranked #1 or #2 in the IBF you must fight an eliminator against someone else in the top 10. Most of the prima donna fighters will not do that.........
I pick WBC because they'll have a belt with KingMay's face...
WBA is a joke because of their dual champion policy... IBF is a joke when it comes to the quality of mandatories and they have 10-pound limit... WBO is a TR belt and their champions from other divisions can become a mandatory to another champion whenever they want to fight their division's champion...
The IBF is the best at following its own rules most of the time, but their rankings are terrible and as a result they often end up disrupting big fights to force a mandatory against a bum. If the IBF had better rankings they'd be the best by far.
The WBA is an absurd joke at this point, and is a PBC trinket at this point.
The WBO is basically owned by Arum and Warren.
The WBC is the best by sanctioning body by default, but that's a low bar and they're quickly becoming the next WBA with this Franchise nonsense.
The Ring used to be the best championship-awarding organization but when DLH bought it he compromised its integrity.
Right now the TBRB is the most credible organization in my opinion.
Fixed it for you.....
at the moment? the IBF hands down. the WBA and the WBC are competing to see who is the most disastrous of the two and the WBO is top rank's belt.
ps: the WBC is the most beautiful belt of them all, such a shame the organization sucks so bad right now.
The WBA is PBC's belt....so.....
No option for "fuck em all" so i didnt vote.
UFC/MMA is gaining on boxing because of 2 main things:
multiple champions (5+ "champs" per weight class) ...and there are too many weight classes anyway
corrupt judging...and there are no consequences for said bribery

The WBC has roots to the oldest and most legitimate belts in the history of boxing including the first belt ever awarded. Literally everyone else is a copycat.
This is absolutely nonsense.
The establishment of WBC split what was once undisputed titles.
The list you give of all great things WBC has done, is not entirely its own.
WBC owes a lot to boxers, champion materials for ruining their careers, and less quality fighters, who have been used through the years.
It’s easy to give examples of how WBC works.
1) Wlad Klitschko was the heavyweight king for several years. WBC never seem to have heard of his name, as they never recognized him as a champion.
2) If the World Athletics had worked in the same way as WBC, they hadn’t recognized Usain Bolt’s 100 metre world record of 9,58 sec, unless he had paid them. WBC would still have claimed (if Ben Johnson had paid the ‘sanction fee’), that Johnson’s 9,79 sec was the fastest 100 metres ever run.

Bob Arum and Frank Warren easily manipulate their rankings. They are corrupt as fuck.
Austin Trout is even currently involved in a lawsuit against the WBO for this precise reason.
Perhaps. It was transferred to Federal Court. But don't be surprised to see the case dismissed.
The reason why is due to this:
"And when (Trout) signed to fight Hernandez, he could not fight with Liam Smith . Both Trout and Smith were removed (from the rankings) but Trout never requested that he be restored, which is his right to do so, and Smith , and by our regulation we matched Smith against the next champion of the division, that was the champion of the NABO. Trout was simply committed to fighting with Joey Hernandez when the opportunity arose ."
They have one belt, one champion, unlike these other "in it for the money" sanctioning bodies. I think they are the lesser evil out of the others.

They all suck for similar reasons, sh^tty rankings, sketchy mandos & run of the mill slick bs. It's a tallest midget contest & who gives a fook who's the tallest midget when none can get on the roller coaster any damn way.
Lmfao
But great way to describe it
None can get on the ride ; CLASSIC
Because they are not legitimate at all.
They are the World Bobarum Organization.
