Why is Tyson-Jones getting more coverage than SHO's announcement ...

An exhibition between two 50 year old boxing legends is getting more coverage than Showtime's huge boxing schedule released yesterday and the other boxing matches. I didn't hear a peep from ESPN about PBCs schedule released yesterday and hell, barely heard ESPN mention any of the Top Rank series fights currently airing on their station. Why does boxing not get any mainstream coverage on sports media stations unless it's Mayweather or Pacquiao? Or 50 year old Tyson or something about Ali? - -Why U pantaloons in a twist? U sissy?

Tyson has never left the spotlight of the mass media, whereas boxing has lost a lot of mainstream appeal in the USA

I think the nutiest Tyson fans will be sad to see how lousy he looks against another good old fighter. Hitting Jones is not the same as hitting defenseless bags and mitts.Tyson vs Jones is a good match. I look forward to watching it if I can watch it for free.

The question is, is it the onus on the boxer or the promoter to make them more popular. I think its a combination of the two. No modern day fighter is nearly as popular as Tyson is. It's just a fact.

They don't even showcase their own fights. And that's false, they did mention Pac-Broner. And I could use FS1 in place of ESPN. They rarely mention boxing themselves. they show loma and crawford highlights on sportscenter all the time....fox1 had its own show dedicated to boxing.....cbs was showing spence on the cowboys sideline on thanksgiving and other games again...i understand youre a fan...and youd like to see more and more respect in general given to the sports by the networks...but they give about the appropriate amount as it relates the sports current popularity

Not even that, boxing in general. I just used that because that was the current biggest announcement in boxing. ESPN doesn't even mention the Top Rank fights. Boxing really doesn't get any coverage unless it's the big names. Guy's you just names. AJ, Fury, Wilder, Canelo. They only mentioned Ruiz-AJ because it was a shockingly HUGE upset. Why don't they mention other title fights. If 2 terrible NBA teams play, it'll be talked about on Sportscenter. I guarantee you the unification fight between Charlo and Rosario won't get a mention. That's all I'm saying. the nba is the nba man....its that simple....but two terrible teams playing will usually get minimal run on sportscenter unless it has some really hyped rookies or a few highlight reel plays....plus fantasy sports is huge and there are always implications as a boxing fan i understand your frustration.....its just the state of boxing in america...its a low rung these days

I'm not shocked. Mike Tyson is one of the most popular athletes EVER. That's not what I'm shocked about. Because it is Mike f'n Tyson that's why. He could post a 20 second clip of hitting the punching bag and it will get over a million views and be shows on SportsCenter.
