I don't think we'd be seeing those numbers the next time Masvidal Fights.. The fight (it wasn't even a fight) was a reality check for him. Threatening to quit due to money, then bad mouthing Usman basically saying anybody else and he wouldn't have took the fight at such short notice... Then Usman schools him and puts him back in his place... I'm sure the next time he threatens shyte about money, Dana will send him a copy of that fight....

Wait for Fury vs Wilder 3, Fury vs Joshua, Canelo vs GGG 3 etc. Dont worry boxing is doing good. And if boxing had events with 3 high caliber championship fights on one card, its numbers would **** all over the UFC.

It is a little more complicated than that. UFC is more popular on average than boxing in the states but MMA overall, not so much. UFC is essentially a promotional company that markets it's own version of a world champion. This goes for every MMA organization because there are no world governing bodies like in boxing. It would be the equivalent of PBC, Top Rank, DAZN, GoldenBoy creating a belt and establishing a world champion within their stable of fighters and marketing them as such whilst not being able to compete against boxers tied to other promoters because only their championship title is recognized and no others exist. That is the reason UFC has created this not entirely true narrative of the best fighting the best. It is not possible if you are not legally allowed to have an outsider compete for that same title. Only UFC fighters are ranked within their organization, which is the same model all MMA organizations follow. This is one of the reasons UFC fighters have such terrible pay in comparison to boxers even though they draw more on average. But this is also because most people pay to watch UFC the brand because the brand is far more popular than any particular fighter in most cases. No one in boxing pays to watch the GoldenBoy promoted fightcard. They pay to watch Canelo. Boxing's attendance is tied directly to individual who is headlining the event. They could care less who is promoting it which is the opposite for the UFC, in most circumstances.

These aren't accurate numbers to gauge the truth because of covid. People are locked down still for the most part and dying for anything sports related. Boxing, while it's back, has been weak as f**k. Especially for the casuals. There are zero names recognized. UFC practically hasn't stopped with what they are putting out. I'm not saying UFC is overtaking boxing yet until we see both sports kicking on all cylinders and what type numbers they produce during their next big fights. Right now, UFC has let's say, zero competition.

Just imagine if boxing sanctioning bodies were to decide the fights and not leave promoters a choice... I'm having a wet dream...

It only did so well because there is nothing else on TV and they aren't likely to tune in again after that muck. You had a young fighter fighting a completely washed up Aldo who didn't deserve a title shot. Aldo fighting for a title is a joke in itself. The old, washed up Aldo typically gassed and ended up getting a horrendous beating for a good minute longer than he should have. Then you had a robbery followed by 25 minutes of someone stamping on the toes of a last minute replacement.

It's just more structured Boxing is all over the place. Fighter A won't fight fighter B due to promotions. Plus that UFC251 card was good. Lol the drama queens on here never stop. It was a stacked card during a lockdown and pandemic, in the middle of a weekly UFC card drop and when boxing has not been as active. Not really worried or concerned, or even impressed. A lot of people I know watched the fights that don't even really like MMA like that because what else is there to do on a Saturday night? I watched some prelims but played 2k20. Just not into MMA like that anymore. Unprecedented times have caused people to stay inside and watch more tv, play more games, binge watch shows, it's not that crazy a stacked PPV card sells well, what other sports are there? What other entertainment elements did it compete with? Lol. I'm proud of the boxing sanctioning bodies etc that have been slow on the rebound. The virus is serious, and people failing to take it seriously is part of why cases and deaths have spiked. Would be cool if a boxing island was organized but I'm not really clamoring for it, there are more important things in the world than any sport right now, and to be honest, always.

UFC is more consistent PPV draw because they make big fights more regularly, stack their cards more, and its just a more entertaining sport. Theyve been the more consistent draw since the late 00s though, its not a new thing. Its just that back then Floyd and Pac were carrying boxing on PPV ensuring that every year there would be 2-3 boxing matches that would break a million buys. Boxing doesnt have two stars like that to fall back on now (plus the whole Canelo DAZN thing) but it still has its moments, that Fury/Wilder rematch was big.

There used to be many Pacquiao's and Mayweather's, now there's maybe 2 or 3 with no signs of new blood who can take it to that level. MMA isn't producing the same amount of stars it did years ago either but it's not in the same decline as boxing. MMA will likely prevail. Not so much because of the sports itself but because the ones who run MMA are more gritty. Dana White for instance fought hard to keep putting up UFC cards even at the peak of the pandemic and they're working hard right now producing big shows. Boxing is a corrupt ****show.

Why just now? Wake up, stateside this isn't even close. MMA, or the UFC in particular has surpassed boxing big time. Just look at the ratings boxing does and compare it to the UFC. When is the last time a boxing PPV did 1.3M buys? This wasn't even their Canelo Alvarez or Anthony Joshua fighting.

I've been making this argument for the last 4-5 Days but hey I see many of my fellow boxing fans are in denial. That Arrogance from Boxing Fans as well as the Powers That Be In Boxing is exactly why Boxing has fallen behind MMA/UFC "IN AMERICA" Wilder vs Fury can't even get a legit 1 Million Buys and those are Heavyweights :nonono:
