I believe that Hamed retired at 28 after 37 fights and Khan is currently 34 with 39 fights. Who's boxing career do you more highly rate: Naseem Hamed's or that of Amir Khan's to date?
is this a joke? Why even try and compare the two?
Based was one of if not the best fighter to come out of the UK, Khan is a joke.
Not understanding why this is even a thread
If you judge a fighter's career by how much money he earned (like a lot of posters here do), then it's Khan. If you judge them by the quality of their wins and overall skills, it's Hamed.
He said it was his injured hands.

Yeah his hands were in terrible shape, really affected the last few years of his career.

1) He was already extremely rich
2) He was having problems making the featherweight limit, he hated the dieting, he made comments in the Barerra documentary that he was looking more forward to the after fight meal than the fight itself.
3) He hated being away from his wife and young children months at a time in training camps
4) He had severe tendonitis and problems in his hands and had to have regular cortizone injections. His uncanny power had really taken its toll on the weapons of his trade....and when the injections wore off, the pain was something else
5) He was badly booed in his comeback fight against Calvo. That has to discourage a man from continuing
6) He never really liked his training/roadwork full stop
7) His style never looked as good under the tutorage of Suarez and Steward
Naseem had already made multi millions. Barrera hadn’t...
The hunger had gone, it wasn’t a lack of heart.

Marco Antonio Barrera, Marcos Maidana, Zab Judah, Paul Malignaggi, Devon Alexander, Luis Collazo
every one of those guys was well past it except Marcos Maidana, which was Khans best win and he still made Khan do the funky chicken dance while getting his best win.
Naz for sure, he actually made you want to watch the little guys. He along with Morales, Barrera etc helped get the little guys noticed back then. The paydays that he brought for his opponents were something else. The fact that he made enough money not to fight anymore at 28 years old says it all. And he wasn't even tempted to comeback and never did.
I dont know if its true but heard that he tripled his net worth after his career. Invested most of his money in oil. His paydays were "something else". He paved the road for the little guys to make serious money. "According to boxing trainer Emanuel Steward, Hamed "opened the door" for British fighters as well as for boxers from lower weight divisions to earn significant prize money; his earnings were unprecedented for a featherweight. According to his boxing trainer son Javan "SugarHill" Steward, Hamed's "flair and skill and confidence" inspired "a generation" and "gave fighters over here a massive opportunity, the confidence to crack the American market".
By January 2001, Hamed had reportedly amassed a fortune of £50 million ($75,746,700). That would be 108 million USD in todays money. Could you ever imagine a featherweight be that rich today?

Naseem Hamed was one of the best paid ATLETHES in the world. He had made 40 million USD before the barrera fight. Around 60 million USD in todays money. He had lost motivation. Watch the documentary Little Prince- Big fight. The most important thing for him before the fight was his haircut lol.
Khan has better wins in his resume. Hamed went to fight one time in the U.S.A. and he ended retiring right after.
hamed according to boxrec had 5 fights in the US winning 4 all with titles on the line

Hamed, but not by a big margin
he beat over 10 world champions and unified the titles in the featherweight division, his only loss was to mexican legend Barrera
but the lack of heart he showed after that loss was dissapointing.
Did Barrera retire after losing to Junior Jones?
no, he came back and beat the likes of Morales, Johnny Tapia, and Naseem himself, proving he was truly one of the greats. Naseem didn't

What are all these great wins on Khans resume?
