who fed broner to the sharks? whoever fcked up this hard should be fired, probably destroyed broners growth, potential and career, they obviously underestimated the new maidana with the new team
It didn’t look a bad matchup on paper. Maidana had been beaten decisively by Alexander and looked far from sensational against Josesito Lopez in what I believe was his fight before AB.
The reality is Broner simply wasn’t as good as people thought he was. Most people assumed he had the skill set and boxing IQ to outbox a somewhat crude yet dangerous fighter like Maidan
a. He evidently didn’t...
AB wasn’t what he should have maidana chino derailed his hype...
This. His best wins before facing Maidana were Antonio De Marco, Gavin Rees and Paulie Malignaggi (the latter not without problems).
Arguably he might have lost against Daniel Ponce De Leon.
Maidana did nothing but show Broner's actual level to the world. In fact, after that beating, he started an endless downslide.
PS myself and deathofaclown posted almost identical thoughts in the space of sixty seconds, unbelievable :)
People will be accusing you of being alts.:lol1:
And yeah agreed man...
This is about the top and bottom of it. Broner was decent, nothing more and nothing less, Which has been proven as he lost every time he really stepped up.
Let’s not forget he had a very close competitive fight with Paulie, who was about six years past his prime at least. If Paulie’s legs were what they were a few years earlier in that fight, he would’ve comfortably beaten Broner.
That tells you all you really need to know about Broner’s level
Yeah man, I was on the hype train until the Paulie fight. That fight really exposed Broner’s limitations. I got off that train just in time...:lol1:
What made me laugh on here were the people who were picking broner were saying that he would box and move and be too active and too fast. The broner i watched got hit plenty but by small or feather fisted opponents) was a come forward fighter, not really defensive minded like a Devon or a box and mover like Khan, didn't really let his hands go that much unless he had you hurt and at 147 vs Paulie showed ZERO power.
I was convinced that Maidana would Maul him, too much activity, too much power difference between the two and that broner was too easy to hit, me and others on here who picked Maidana were not doing so because we were Maidana fans but because if you looked at both fighters this was a bad match up for Broner, unless he could show something he hadn't shown before, better defence, power at 147, more activity.
Broner is lucky he has a good chin, otherwise would have been knocked out for sure, there is still a case for the fight being stopped at some points of the fight, except for me losing my KO bet i am glad it went 12 rounds as i loved every second of it.

Dont forget ponce de leon too

it would have been nice to see Maidana vs Matthyse (because they're from the same country). Maidana vs Kell Brook, Maidana vs Porter, (they're almost the same lol). Maidana vs Danny Garcia and Maidana vs Crawford.

Under the new PBC guideline as of now, this fight would never had happened. Back in those days PBC were more into competitive match ups with anyone, especially if they believe in their guy. Just look at Tank as of now..
You know what was an even bigger mistake? That Maidana retired after the second fight with Mayweather
If he stuck around kept disciplined under Garcia he could have held the belts at 147 among the new generation because at the time we had the ghost, danny Garcia, porter, khan thurman (spence was too green) leading the new generation at welterweight I could see that version of maidana beating all of them
If you watched malignaggi vs broner and ponce de leon vs broner you knew the writing was on the wall that broner was due to getting exposed.
But yes it was an unforgettable night the forum was going crazy lol every second there was a new post

Was Broner’s fault, he was unable to keep distance or let his hands go at the right times
He did far better against Mayweather than I expected tbh, I was really glad he got the rematch, he was one of those fighters who really deserved another payday.
I gained a lot of respect for Ruiz but then lost a some of it based on how he just mailed it in the rematch.
I was so disappointed in him for coming in, in such bad shape. He had a genuine chance to gatecrash the HW top 3 but he came in looking like a sumo.
Yeah mate
Ruiz is his own worst enemy it's a damn shame too
There's been a lot of fights that has elevated the fighter that lost. Everyone just prefers to chit on the loser instead.
Nah man if a fighter shows those balls win or lose I will follow them
Jean Pascal when he lost to froch was another though he was a bit shlt haha
Lol, where is it?
No idea. It was mainly people creating memes of several pictures from the fight, from him laying in the ropes after a knockdown, to him walking through the tunnel after the fight. ****ing hilarious thread.
Actually AB was warned NOT to rush the Maidana fight by the Mayweather camp. AB didn't listen. He turned down that Roc Nation deal as well back then...AB shouldn't have been at welter and certainly not as long as he has been. He was always too small. Very good fighter, deserves all the credit he used to get, but overstayed his welcome at 147. That was a horribly dangerous matchup and was going to elevate him to potentially getting that Manny or Floyd shot back then. Y'all ain't fans of Boxing. AB is the archetype for a fighter that dared to be great and risk his career in every fight. That deserves praise. Y'all the same ones that say y'all don't care whether a fighter is undefeated as long as he fought the best: well that's Adrien Broner. At a weight he should've never been at. I always knew yall didn't mean that BS tho it was just more nonsense to discredit Floyd because y'all hate him. I'm proud of AB in the ring for even having that type of courage to face the guys he did. Whatever he does out the ring as long as it ain't rape or murder/manslaughter I could care less.
