Canelo and GGG are both great fighters. GGG is never going to win titles in 4 weight classes like Canelo has done. GGG had a great career and he is very old for a boxer and way past prime. On the other had Canelo is never going to make 20 successful defenses of any weight class as GGG did at 160 . Canelo started as a pro at the age of 15 and was able to grow in weight naturally while winning world titles as he grew into heavier weights. GGG had a long great amateur career and turned pro at a much later age and was already a middleweight and as heavy as he was ever going to be. In boxing today we have 4 different champions in each weight class so if a boxer wants to win a title in a new weight class he has the option to try to fight the weakest of the 4 champions. So if we are judging how good a boxer is based on how many weight classes he won titles in then it is very important the quality of the champions this boxer beat when he beat them. for instance Broner won titles in 4 different weight classes just like Canelo has done but nobody considers Broner as good as Canelo. Do you think Fielding and Kovalev were excellent champions at the time Canelo beat them? I don't. You talk about Canelo winning titles in 5 or 6 weight classes when the only new weight classes he could win a title in are cruiserweight and heavyweight.
