I see a lot of people using conjecture to judge how an fight between the current Tyson and top heavyweights would go, but, can someone tell me in which metrics Andy Ruiz is better than Mike Tyson we saw hitting the mitts? Is it chin? Power? Skill? Head movement? Angle/foot work? Stamina???
While I do agree that Tyson would probably lose to some fringe contenders at that point, I also think that if he chose his fight right, he could take some of the current top heavyweights out. How would you think a fight between the current Tyson and the Anthony Joshua we saw facing Andy Ruiz in the first fight would play out?
Ruiz is better at eating and is younger. Other than that they really shouldn’t be compared.
Exactly. I'm still not seeing any real comparison between the two men as far as skill set go. Just assumptions because he's older and shouldn't win based on that fact. I'm also not talking about a fight against Ruiz, but a top heavy he'd be carefully matched against. In reality, Ruiz doesn't have that much in his toolbox, and I still don't see what metric he's better than Tyson, then or now. And he was a world champion.
I also don't want to hear about Tyson's downfall years. This one is in a much different head space.
And hitting a punching bag for 7 seconds is not just the same like having a boxing match with 30 old opponent. Be realistic.
It's not about that. Footwork angle work and skills is not something you just lose with age. What we saw is that he still has impressing speed and power, more than Ruiz has.
You saw a 53 year old hit some pads for 7 seconds, and now you think he's got a better skillset than a prime heavyweight because he's fat?
I saw much more than that. Do you think Ruiz could together a more impressing 7 seconds?
man you must be casual, a 7 second clip of a 53 year old on pads makes you think he can beat prime top contenders??? lmfao
And your eye can't be trusted. You're the village idiot.

Tysons movement looked rigid as hell too
And movement was the key to 5'10" Tyson's success. When that started to go so did his success. Prime Tyson scared really big men, they looked like they were being swarmed by murder hornets

Note: You are completely insane...
Tyson’s fall was painful to watch, it was a man suffering a mental breakdown, being forced into the ring for money.
He was an absolute shell not just of the fighter from the 80’s but a shell of the man he once was.
Why are you talking to me?
Have you watched the Williams & Mcbride fights? Mike Tyson was beating Williams until he hurt his knee, and he was also beating Mcbride for the large majority of that fight.
Tyson's fall from the game was not all that bad in my opinion, he was dangerous right up until the end.
Note: But I am in agreement that Tyson should not really be fighting any of the top elite fighters active today 'Tyson should stick to exhibitions against other veteran fighters'.

Ruiz Jr also doesn’t have serious mental health issues that are clearly triggered by fighting.
People should go and look at some of Tyson’s late career and look at how f***ed up he was.
Ruiz can fight better than the current Tyson. He can fight a hell of a lot better. He can give and take a punch better. He can go rounds at a faster pace. The Tyson of 30 years ago would ko Ruiz. Today's Tyson gets KOed by Ruiz. 18 years ago Tyson lost to average heavyweights McBride and Williams. Williams knocked him out and Tyson knew it was time to retire if he could no longer beat guys like that. Ruiz is a hell of a lot better now than McBride and Williams were when they convinced Tyson to retire 18 years ago. Tyson might beat some other 53 year old boxer but he is not going to beat any of today's top 10 heavyweights.

If Tyson could do months and months of sparring he would be able to gauge what was possible. There's no stamina at 53 just explosive bursts then when you shot your load you want to stop mentally and there is no 2nd wind. He would have to cheat like Hopkins or Evan Fields did to go 6 solid rounds. If he cheated like Hopkins his only chance would be to unload from the bell and go for the 1st rd KO. They would also have to select an opponent like Charles Martin who has a name but has a porous defense and style wise can't handle agressive fighters with power. A crap fighter like McBride beat a guy who didn't want to be there in 2005. Martin would win now as well. Stay retired Mike.
Yes he has a better skillset than any top heavyweight today, its his stamina ,chin and power that id be debating
Chin and stamina is what I was going to say.
I don't know that Andy Ruiz hits harder than the current Tyson, though. Could be he does but maybe he doesn't.

Ruiz would crush 53 year old tyson . Mike if he's going to fight could prolly beat Kevin Johnson. Thats about it . Watching someone hit pads or bags is irrelevant to what they can do in a ring. Anyone who has competed or thoroughly knows boxing is well aware of this
