His best win is what, a razor close fight with luke campbell or Oscar larios.... Plus he's been stopped multiple times by lesser fighters
First, I blame HBO for overhyping him because he was trained by freddie roach. Linares was a HBO hype job originally
2nd, UK fans started overhyping him because he beat some of their fighters.
3rd, Ring magazine started to act like he was some P4P level guy because he was one of the few champs at Goldenboy. Goldenboy owns ring magazine...
4th, Loma fans started to act like linares is elite because he knocked loma down and they desperately want Loma to get a signature win.
Why is he so highly rated?

Bum Killer Crawford's the most overrated "fighter" no doubt !
He never understood it to be honest.
Talented fighter and obviously world class by far from elite.
Baffles me that a portion of fans gave him any kind of chance against Lomachenko.
Agreed. I saw him fight in person in a dusty bull ring in Cancun city. He won with a devastating KO, looked like a highlight of the year punch. But until that moment the fight was a drag out war in reality. I’ve also seen Linares get starched in the first round. He equated himself well vs Loma, and he scored a flash KD, but in truth it wasent really that close and Loma was the one that dropped Linares like a sack of potatoes with a body shot. Yet somehow that fight is Linares highlight reel and not Lomas? Like u said, a high level fighter, but he’s an “opponent” for the Elite. I mean if he’s next for King Ry, I can’t say I’m too excited, but on the other hand they could take a lesser option. That’s boxing.
Linares is a very skilled boxer who simply lacks durability. The rest of his game is very well rounded and high level. Don't dismiss him so readily simply because it doesn't suit your fanboy narrative.
They're trolls. I love making them look like ****ing idiots.
Im baffled by how the fact that he gave loma such a tough fight hasn’t taken any of the steam out of Loma’s hype. Loma was a huge favorite going in and was work specter to win pretty easily. Instead he basically went life and death with Linares, even getting dropped. After 9 that fight was a toss up. If Linares had more stamina and/or heart he could have very well won.
I literally can't stop laughign......
You............ LMMFFFFFFFAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
Oh these little ****** boys on this forum..... Oh my god....

First, I don't think the Loma vs linares fight was as close as people make it seem. Outside of 2 rounds or so I had Loma clearly winning before he stopped him.
.
2nd, the best fighter he's beaten for a belt is Oscar Larios. Let's be honest here, Oscar Larios was never that great. He was decent but nothing great.
3rd, I'm still confused how people think linares is some elite level fighter. Why have people rated him so high, and still continue to do so, when he hasn't really proven it in the ring?
1. That's you. Most unbiased people had the fight extremely close with Linares even winning on some cards. The judges had it as a draw at the time of the stoppage.
2. No one says Larios was a HOF, but was a good fighter, and there's a such thing as the eye test. Everybody can't just fight top 3 fighters every time they step in the ring.
Linares is a guy without a country willing to travel and fight whoever's in front of him and held the LW belt 4 years in the process.
3. Who are these people rating Linares so high? Show me one top 10 P4P list that has him on it. Please show me.
What is such praise?
Nobody's putting him in the HOF, just saying that he was a good fighter who is willing to fight guys in their country when you have others who set up shop at home where they know they'll get decisions they don't deserve.
Plenty of people had him winning the fight against Lomachenko, who's considered P4P no.1 and was considered untouchable before he was stopped with an insane body shot.
Bad fighters don't push top 2/3 fighters the way he pushed Lomachenko, hold the lightweight title for 4 years, and stopping a solid Oscar Larios for a title, who even Manny Pacquiao couldn't stop.

What did he say? Ricky burns is also a 3 division champ :lol1:
What has Linares done to warrant so much praise? :lol1:

garcia is the one who turned down the fight. maybe it wasnt a good deal but based on your past statements saying ggg ducked ward you don't care about the details of any deal. its all about optics for you. at least linares wanted to fight him next and not in year like ward lol
Daggum, I'm not gonna waste my time on someone with mental health issues....
If you're never going to accept the challenge I've offered you (you know what im talking about) then don't ever quote me again.
Linares is the one who ducked him, clown. Same way he ducked that eastern euro who Mikey KO'd, thats why he vacated his WBC.

It’s a bullsht excuse because you’re implying that’s the only reason that the fight was as close as it was. If you look at the knockout, loma actually celebrates by fist pumping with his right arm. He threw damn near 400 jabs with the right hand/arm. Stop it. You can give him credit while admitting he’s not as good as the hype.I never said that the fight was close because of the injury but you have to be brain-dead to think that a fighter with a shoulder injury fights at 100%. A lot of fighters throw punches through adrenaline but that does not mean the fighter is at his best which it is obvious to anyone who has had the type of sports injury he has had. And anyone with the IQ above a dead frog knows that kind of injury, which I have had, compromises being at your best which very obviously goes without saying. And he had surgery which PROVES it was not a BS excuse. He had an injury and then you used some lame ass BS line about "if Linares had more heart and stamina" which the fight had nothing to do with.
Linares is a three division champion who should have been unified at lightweight but the WBC stripped him for a stupid reason. Before Lomachenko beat him, he was unbeaten for nearly six years. He’s 47-5 with some impressive names on his resume.
He wasn’t hyped. HBO and Ring Magazine correctly pegged him as a top 10-20 p4p type fighter who was arguably the best lightweight in the world.
Now he’s 34, which isn’t young for his size, he lost to the top dog at 135 and he’s too small for 140. So he’s being correctly pegged as an older fighter who will eventually have to fight for his place at 135 against younger talent.
He was stripped for not facing his mandatory. The WBC actually went for bat for him on a few occasions, like maintaining his pseudo champ status even after he pulled out of a return fight with his mandatory and instead opted to pursue a title shot with a different organization. And a few years prior to that when Demarco beat him to a bloody pulp, the WBC pushed for a rematch by designating his next fight a title eliminator even though his opponent was moving up in weight and not even ranked in the division. He ended up losing that one too.
And yeah, he's held titles in multiple divisions but most were vacant when he claimed them. Probably his best division was lightweight but he was stopped three time there (two of which were huge upsets) and the only title holder he defeated in the division was mediocre Crolla.
He had that “close” stoppage win against Larios. Beat a solid fighter in Gamaliel Diaz.
His 130 run was nothing special. Then wins two versions of the lightweight title. Goes on the road beating Mitchell, Crolla x2.
Yeah what a “hype job”...
Don’t expect another reply clown...
So Oscar larios is the best fighter he's beaten to win a belt ......and people like to act like linares is "elite" :lol1:
How is Linares not a hypejob when you have people acting like he's an elite A level fighter with that resume? :lol1:
God damn, I forgot how trash 135 used to be. Imagine raving about beating crolla
I've always found the hype around him baffling, because no matter how many times he'd get taken out, his supporters would insist he's special.
Like someone else mentioned, I view him as a sort of poor man's Khan-- he has a good offensive skillset but is also fragile and inconsistent-- and overall has fewer quality wins and worse losses than Khan. An interesting thing about him is that he maintains kind of a stoic and neutral expression even when he's badly hurt and out of it-- and I wonder if for that reason his supporters convince themselves that his losses were somehow flukes, even though being taken out by B and C level come forward fighters has been more so the rule than the exception throughout his career.
Who did he beat to win those titles?
Ricky burns is also 3 division champ, stuff like that looks impressive to you boxrec warriors :lol1:
Don't duck the question :lol1:
