I know this a old topic but Imo SRL's resume is just too great.
He beat multiple ATGs in their primes.
He has arguably the best lightweight of all time and best middleweight of all time on his resume. ( although he beat Duran a later)
I rank Floyd very high but SRL's best wins hold too much weight. Floyd never lost and took less damage while SRL let himself get dragged into wars so u can make the good argument that Floyd was smarter and prolly would have done better vs SRL's opponents. But u can also say SRL would have destroyed Floyds.
Who would win is a whole other convo but who do yall rate higher on the atg p4p list?
Floyd Mayweather or Sugar Ray Leonard.
I can respect your opinion although I definitely don’t agree with all your essay lol
But let me just ask one question
So , Hagler ,Hearns or Duran were great fighters , we can agree with that , but were they so timid or afraid of losing their 0 ?
The answer is NO they weren’t and that my friend is where the difference lies
They are all afraid to loose none want to lose and they all face their fears , hype and fan BS says Oh Floyd was afraid to lose his 0 , well what the fck does that even mean when he beat the best of his era, he wouldnt fight GGG is that it , he didnt want give Khan a payday is that it, what does it mean give me some facts that prove it.
It appears to me if a guy loses then you come with he is not afraid to lose, but if a guy beats everyone and has the best resume of his era he is afraid to lose, how do you arrive at that enlighten me will you because I cannot make sense of what you're saying, it just sounds like the regular hater throw away statement that appears in here day in day out.
I dont see how you can say he was much more interested in the the stigma of TBE, when he was fighting the best comp available and the TBE bs was just a catch cry marketing ploy like a very young Ali was screaming I am The Greatest, Floyd has one of the greatest resumes in boxing in terms of the entire body of work, he beat everyone over a very long time.
Its easy to say these things about FM but its to harder to prove if you actually look at his resume fight for fight with others and their resume, holy cow Floyd is way ahead, the others in his era won and lost against each other where he beat them all.
Money earned has nothing to do with a rating but it could be one of the measuring sticks to forming the rating, and this is one of my beefs to this GOAT rating concept , what is the criteria and who says what is of more value, you see as soon as you start actually trying to define a fair scale the whole thing falls apart, and ends up just what it is, a fans argument with no definition or end, a Ferris Wheel .
Floyd had ATG written all over him as a LW, so he didnt have to convince anyone, his talk is just marketing along his career path to sell himself his ring performances are there to see and his resume is better than any other fighter during the same era.
Start putting up fight for fight and its very clear Floyds resume is not riding the coattails of 2-3 fighters, its real solid from start to finish, Floyd never had a Hearns Hagler Duran in his era, but he had guys that could hold their own with Hagler Leonard Hearns Duran, just look at their resumes guys beat them and they werent greats they were just contenders.
As I said way back for me there is NO GOAT , because I cannot define one because of the variables involved, its just another fan debate pushing the fighters they like and bagging the ones they dont .
All I will say is that FM is the best fighter of his era and he could beat or not ANYONE in history his size, he is right in the mix.

Im offended i have a hella xvid collection lmao
I get it!!! You my bro... I was mad when my bellbotoms went or fell outta style ... what really bothered me ... til this day... was seeing guys do new tricks with skateboarding, box.. everything
I still think the sugar hill gang are the best rappers ever!
The crazy well funny thing is.... Im 100% sure he would have won all those fights people feel like he ducked.... Problem is, i know for a fact he would have took damage tho... Like fighting Manny in 09... I feel like he would have won. But that version of Manny was gonna do damage win lose or draw... Nah this boxer/puncher version who won't take chances like he did b4.... Marquez vs Pac 4 was the last fight of "eye of the tiger" Manny
I saw Floyd turn pro, saw him live, and I just don’t know if I’d ever bet against him at any reasonable weight. I mean the odds say someone should have stepped on his foot and nailed him at sum point. Everyone’s numbers go way down against him. Everyone knows his $ punch is a lead right hand yet everyone gets tagged clean with it. People imagine the impact of a clean Hearns right hand on Floyd but not how it came to be. I have family members that wanted to see him lose him, I’ve got family members that wanted to see how he pulled it off. But “tune in to see me win, tune in to see me lose, tune in to see my trunks”
I’m a Floyd fan and that makes sense to me. Floyd’s undefeated record was his biggest asset. People needed to tune in to see if he lost. He was nowhere the most exciting fighter in ring but it was exciting to see if he could continue his streak. It’s no surprise a defensive expert is the one with the undefeated record. This is boxing. A come forward exciting slugger style increases the odds of getting nailed yourself. Yes I know Marciano, but honestly his record isn’t on the same level. We all wish Floyd tried to push it harder for KOs, but easy for us to say on the couch. But yeah he made business decisions in there. It worked out for him. If he pushed and got counter KOd he’d get crucified also to be fair.

Young **** heads who rely on social media for knowledge, think that they know things... don’t have a wife... play video games and whack off to online ****o.. I rest my case

I feel like Floyd sacrificed being the real TBE(fighter) for being TBE of the fight game if that makes sense

This can be one way to see it
Not that I agree but wtv
All solid points
Floyd was much more interested in keeping the stigma of tbe more than anything else , let’s be honest
So now we rate atg by the amount of money he’s made
Roflmfao
I’d rather you say he maximized money by taking the least amount of risk
Also , money like that was not around when SRL was fighting
One thing he’s done very well is convince people he was atg before he actually tried to be atg
Suckers will be suckers

No that's not how I personally rate the ATG. I was just pointing out that Floyd has mastered the boxing aspect, the promotional aspect, the ppv gate, the gambling, all that. He squeezes every dime he can out of each fight. Yes, he took high value/low risk fights there towards the end. I don't think he is even in the top 5 ATG but I think he is one of the greatest combat sports business men ever, and very excellent boxer on top of that
How did the Lalonde CW sit because Lalonde was drained very bad.
Once again it shows how the average doesnt care about CWs when they drain a guy , they will class the win like it didnt happen.
Not all CWs are bad its only when a fighter is brought down below what his body can handle without it weakening him.
As a fanboy from the age of 6 you don’t really care about things like that 😂 but looking back as an objective fan now, it was horrible, to have the fight at a different weight class and then have the belt put on it etc... That’s a different level of shadiness. Ray Leonard was the epitome of those sort of things, and I think that’s why he always hold his tongue when he wanted to say more about Mayweather. Ray took the piss with the “A-side” thing back in those days.
Am a Mayweather fan, but am a Ray fanboy. I grown up by my father who had me watching Ray, his handspeed to steal rounds, the rolling of his right hand (Which I copied into football when I was school).... Yeah no one can place him under Mayweather for me. But my views are definitely biased towards Ray Leonard. I remember the Lalonde fight like it was yesterday, jumping up and down, emotional through out the fight... it literally makes me actually see how these PBC/LDBC/Wilder/Haymonites fans feel emotional attached to their king. I have thankfully separated myself from boxers in that way since.

This post is stupid all over. Rios wasn’t a “bonafide” bum, but you are for sure a “bonafide” idiot.
Mosley was top 5, that’s why Pacquiao fought him.
Clottey was coming off a disputed decision vs Cotto. That’d be a perk in most eyes. And he was top 5 also.
Catchweight vs Oscar. Oh boy. Pacquiao was also testing the waters vs Cotto and Margarito. Why did Floyd catchweight Canelo?
Even the 140lb’ers are bigger than Pacquiao.
Pacquiao 150, Rios 159
Pacquiao 149, Algieri 155
But Pacquiao is picking on smaller fighters. Lol
——————————-
Did you seriously give Rios a shot at troubling PAC? Rios is a walking punch bag. The fact that you consider Rios a viable opponent for the “great” PAC just shows you don’t know shít about boxing.
If Floyd had chosen to fight Rios would you have kept your mouth shut and say the same garbage that you are spewing now?
All those guys that somehow were viable opponents for PAC become “old” or “not in their prime” when Floyd fought them.
You can’t be helped. Delusional buffoons all of you.
Lastly, Floyd did not demand a catchweight with Canelo. Canelo is the one who called out Floyd after beating Cintron and then offered to meet Floyd halfway at 152. This is something you can google or just go to YouTube and hear Canelo say that.
Freddie Roach is in record stating he wants PAC to have all the advantages I.e weaken the other guys.
As far as the topic goes, Floyd probably doesn’t actually care. His fans and his detractors care 1000 more times than him where he ranks on the “ATG list”. If you ask him, being the troll he is, he will say he is #1 and it would start a 1, 684 reply thread about where he ranks. Argued by a bunch of dudes who don’t even know what the hell they’re talking about or explain in detail exactly why, how and what fights are they basing their ranks on.
Gonna come at me with “newspapers doe”, “anecdotes doe”, “Bert Sugar doe”, “I seen the footage doe”.
Right!
That's what I don't get either. Most of SRRs prime isn't even on film.
Resume's are like ***holes everybody has one. Pit Floyd and Leonard in the same ring together and I'm picking Money all day.
Im leaning towards Floyd as much as I love SRL ask the NFL.... Great defense beats a great offense
I read through the posts before posting my message and yes it absolutely does apply. I see posts talking about top 10, top 20, top 25.
The post wasn't specifically quoting the OP, because it applies to all of the posts I read up to that point. Not who ranks higher between Mayweather and SRL.
If the topic stayed on who ranks higher and nothing else, then I wouldn't have posted that.
Does it ever? Lol... Especially involving polarizing names like Floyd......
Titlle can be "Is Floyd 5'8 or 5'9
