Iceman John Scully’s Auction: Is changing the prize without notice acceptable?

I just came across this thread again...just an FYI.. this guy simply doesn't understand how auctions work. PERIOD.

Ice Man is a stand up guy. You should look at all these auction etc he does as a "Donation" meaning the stuff in return is extra etc because thats literally all he is trying to do is raise money for boxing causes/people. I'm sure if he can raise this money from boxing fans without enticing them with items he would, that being said you should reach out to Ice man and explain your position hes a stand up guy and will make it right. Are you sure you wasnt outbidded? this forum is not his main outlet so you might have accidently gotten overlooked or outbidden and not even know it.

I saw that you seemed really interested so i went in my boxing stuff and found a DIFFERENT Ray Mancini item because I figured you were a fan specifically of his so I offered it to to you WITHOUT putting it up for auction, I was just going to have Ray sign it to you without anyone else being able to bid on it. What i think happened is this. The other person who bid was somebody on his facebook friend list. I dont do FB so I made my bids on here and Iceman relayed the bid etc.... I think he just decided to give it to his facebook friend and attempted to double dip on me with a Sports illustrated magazine lol. So he got 240 from his buddy and dude tried to come up another 260 from me with another prize.. That’s how i see it but whatever. I guess Ill just pickup another OZ lol FINITO...FOR THE RECORD... someone else beat u with a higher bid and that's the end of it. That's how it works. Whoever bids the highest I send the item to them and when they receive it and give me verification then I forward the money to one of the fighters in need that I help. About these items on my Facebook and Twitter generally. Afterwards I saw how much you apparently wanted the magazine and I took it that you were a big Boom Boom Mancini fan so I went and got something else from him and offered to give it to you WITHOUT having to bid on it but u went a bit off the rails and the whole thing got squashed.

This was an open auction for the community and rules were broken so Im making an open thread. And btw, I did PM him first. If you dont want to make it a public business, then dont make it a public event. AND JUST FOR THE RECORD...this is not an official thing...it is just something I do generally from my Facebook to try and raise money for guys in need. I try to not make it difficult but it is definitely a casual thing. I got a better offer from someone else and I went with it, sent money to Benitez, Colon and McClellan. I am not a business, I have no license or anything like that, I am not a company, just a guy trying to help out a bit when I can. When it came down to it, Finito, you just got outbid on my Facebook page by someone else, THAT'S IT. When I saw how serious you took it after, that's when I sent u a message offering you something else with Ray on it because you seemed like a big fan of his.

It looked to be a done deal at that point and his last words were, “ok Ill get back to you” and dude just disappeared. Yesterday, after weeks of silence, dude reaches out to me with some random ass Sports Illustrated magazine saying that itll get signed by Mancini for the same $...... Go on Facebook to USA Sporty Mystery Breaks and join that group. They do autographed gloves all the time. Just did Roy Jones Jr and I won it for $9!

Look I didn't actually intend to go in on you hard, man. I thought I was being fairly restrained, but I don't always weigh my words right. Thing is I think in the circumstances a more considered approach to dealing with this situation woulda been more appropriate. I get that you're annoyed with how things went, but maybe it's sometimes better to step back and look at the bigger picture.

If this fella is a businessman then he should know a thing or two about people giving their time. Scully is actually a good dude we've conversed on a few ocassions i don't know if he'll remember me as he has better people to talk to about more important things . I'll say this about Ice-man.....He's always been nice to me and always answered a question that i asked, how likeable can you get when a man of his stature is that busy with hectic schedules, he's a proper mans man.

Sure the Iceman ain't necessarily done this the best way, but at least he's trying to do something worthwhile for people who are genuinely struggling and all you're doing is moaning about how your little acquisition didn't come off according to plan. I was absolutely damn serious, you're good at telling other people how damn great you are - how about using some of that talent of yours to actually do something that might benefit these guys and help John do his thing instead of just attending to your own needs?
