It seems the UK/AJ posters have come out of the woodwork since Fury's win over Wilder.
As someone who was rooting for Fury and was glad he won, the resurgence of all of these 'AJ/UK' posters reminded me just how nice it actually was when AJ lost to Ruiz...they disappeared for a while and the discourse on here was much better...not perfect mind you...but before their presence was so large and loud that it was impossible to really reason with them.
Well gentleman...it appears they have come back, in droves...he.ll just check my signature below for the type of insanity we will now be having to deal with after Fury beating Wilder.
Men...it will not be easy to beat back these savages...but rest easy...very soon I'm sure AJ will get chinned again...and the great Dillian Whyte will surely lose too, as great as he is...what a stud that fat tub of goo is...he has to take PEDs and he still sucks.
For every one great UK fighter - a Tyson Fury for example - there are 3 Liam Walsh, Ricky Burns and Liam Smith type fighters...who get incredible hype at the UK level, are said to be world level, and are then embarrassed when they step up to world level.
No, YOU said "Liam Walsh, Ricky Burns and Liam Smith type fighters are said to be world level, and are then embarrassed when they step up to world level."
WRONG! Ricky Burns had already reached the world level stage and won a world title and fought elite fighters. Elite fighters are not the ONLY fighters at the world level. You have no clue about the pathways to learning boxing in the gyms, gym fights, becoming an amateur, turning pro, rising up through the WORLD rankings. I'm going to check in a month on your posts to see have left the world of not knowing sht about boxing. Till then, your on ignore...I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Don't bother responding, I wont see your responses, you're not on my level. I've been involved in the sport for over 25 years. I'm not going to waste my time with a newbie.
Oh the irony :) lol.
Btw this is my thread man...no one is asking you to be in here lol.
Yeah man 3 of those guys were not that great and were overhyped...is what it is...sorry it upsets you so much...it's very reasonable to have an opinion that those 3 fellas, among many others from the UK, have been overhyped...a lot of groups do it, but imho the UK is far and away number 1 in that category, thus I made this thread to gather thoughts.
In any event, my friendly advice to you would be try and debate with a bit more decorum...when you lose your cool so easily, over rather insignificant comments, it reflects poorly on you imho and calls your analysis into question.
In any event, I hope you keep the studying the game a bit and have a great day!
The only time I used the word 'embarrassed' was in 1) describing Burns performance against Indongo...sorry bud, it was embarrassing.
And 2) Indongo's performance against Crawford and Prograis...it was embarrassing, just is what it is man.
AJ's performance against Ruiz was embarrassing...etc etc...there are many such examples.
An embarrassing performance is when you show up way way way less that what was expected.
Ward was getting embarrassed vs Kov in fight 1 before he had a good last 6 rounds (still lost the fight though).
It happens man...idk if Burns is your son or something or what but it's not a big deal buddy. No, YOU said "Liam Walsh, Ricky Burns and Liam Smith type fighters are said to be world level, and are then embarrassed when they step up to world level."

Both Burns and Smith have reached an area that countless others have failed; that is the rarefied air of where contenders and champions have been. The only point I am proving is that your use of the word "Embarrassed" to diminish a fighter's accomplishments is pure idiocy. When a fighter becomes a contender or champion, they are already at the top level because there are far greater number of level below them. They didn't just pop in off the street to fight for a world title on national TV a number of times, they worked their way up. If you weren't new to boxing you would know Burns is not at the top level because he has already been there and fought high ranked fighters and is far past his prime now. You would know that and wouldn't be using Burns in the current sense of "top level" if you knew the current climate of boxing. We're done here.

Man you seem to be taking this kind of hard...sorry I guess.
You are proving my point though...you are swearing that Burns Walsh and Smith etc are top level when they aren't...and they aren't really even that close to it.
But hope you have a great day man!
I mean...the A-side/hometown fighter/prospect gets bad cards all the time man...that happens everywhere, not just the US.Both Burns and Smith have reached an area that countless others have failed; that is the rarefied air of where contenders and champions have been. Yeah but even top rank made pac a superstar.
Thats the problem, to many maybe fighters because they dont match them So they stay in the maybe zone.
Loma, fury, took risks
Fair points there
They do have Pac but he is a bit past it...I would say Spence before the accident was very comparable to Bud.
PBC has a lot of 'maybe' type guys...but we don't know enough about them yet really to say what they are...but for the most part no one really is going crazy on hyping those guys up...not that I see anyway.

Sit down kid your making a fool of yourself. Your hero wilder lost, it stings I know as I'm a joshua fan and I had to ride the same train.
You are frustrated and you are lashing out. I understand but your having a mare here.
Bro you can't even spell...I'm not worried about your opinion on anything...find one post before this fight where I said anything positive at all really about Wilder...I'll wait
What are you even talking about dude lol...no one is even talking about Wilder...and again I was rooting for Fury lol and picked him to win.
Great win by Fury...but eventually you will have to move on and talk about other things on here buddy, that is if you are really a boxing fan that is...if you are just a fan-boy, well change your picture to whoever your faves are and just root them on...but leaving the boxing talk/analysis out to everyone else.
Peace bro.

And who the hell was hyping Ricky burns Liam Smith and Liam Walsh? You got any proof or just pulled it out of your arsehole?
Read the comments in this thread from Kafkod and Richard
And yes I remember how 'stunned' everyone was when Burns lost to Indongo...who proceeded to get embarrassed by Crawford and Prograis.
And many gave Walsh a very good chance against Davis...and Smith a good example of another guy who hyped to be world level but isn't really there.
Btw I remember the Burns and Walsh fights because I don't really follow those weights...so when I am trying to form opinions of fights/fighters at those weights, I am reading threads on here to see what everyone is saying.
And going into those fights, Burns was a clear favorite...and Walsh was going to give Davis a really tough fight.
You are in no position to say who is and is not world-class or world-level. And Burns proved he was world class and a champion and many others who are not stars. You tried to use the "embarrassed" comment to fortify your claim and failed miserably since almost every boxer has or will be embarrassed, including the elite. Give it up dude.
Man you seem to be taking this kind of hard...sorry I guess.
You are proving my point though...you are swearing that Burns Walsh and Smith etc are top level when they aren't...and they aren't really even that close to it.

You should listen to some of the talking heads who are paid to hype Wilder mate - it is borderline Hunger Games type insanity that people cannot see through how transparently he is propped up.
One of them.had him ahead on the cards when he stopped Orriz 2.
Oh boy.
I mean...the A-side/hometown fighter/prospect gets bad cards all the time man...that happens everywhere, not just the US.
Wow, wilder losing has really hit you hard.

I don't listen to any commentator on boxing really, or on anything else...I form my own opinions of fighters and issues based on what I see in the ring, etc.
Some people occasionally have good insights and when they do I take note of it.
I don't listen to anyone 100% of the time...Paulie is a good example...he is a good boxing mind, but he is also a feather fisted type of guy...so the way he scores some fights is off I think, and the way he analyzes some fights is off, because he is scoring them always for the boxer/mover/light puncher.

Read my comments above...Walsh has never even won a major belt...just because you beat someone from another country does not make you world level!!
Just absurd arguments man...you don't have to defend every single one of your guys on every single issue.
World level means world-class...you think Liam Walsh is of the highest caliber in the world? If so, you better start throwing that word around quite often. You are in no position to say who is and is not world-class or world-level. Just read my sig man...or any post from 15 rounds...to have Whyte as anything but a heavy underdog vs Wilder, even now, seems crazy to me.
OK...just look at the arguments that your fellow countrymen are making below.
They are saying that because Walsh beat a 16-10 Sampaio, that he is world level...saying that any time you beat someone from another country, you are world level...it's absurd...he has never even won a major belt either, so what exact argument are they even making?
That Smith beating John Thompson makes him world level...that Burns getting embarrassed by Indongo, who in turn was embarrassed by Crawford and Prograis, makes him world level.
It's ridiculous.

Wow, wilder losing has really hit you hard.
Nope, and they are sensitive creatures.
But now all. The are some really cool Brit fans in these boards.
Nothing wrong with celebrating your countryman's victory but some here just go overboard and can't give kudos to any other fighter.
Ha well, I ain't gonna argue with you man, cept to say one man's overhyping is another man's enthusiasm. Could be certain UK fans are just naturally more demonstrative than folk like your good self are used to. 'Besides, you should know as well as anyone that generalising about a whole nation - whether it regards boxing or anything else - is never a wise path.
You got your own biases, man, we all do - it's just you express 'em in different ways... in this case by trying to establish yourself as being more detached and objective and thus in a postion to judge. It's something I do too - probably a great deal more than I should.:lol1:
Problem is objectivity is a hard sell at the best of times and it's particularly unbeleivable when you're starting threads with no other apparent motive than to attempt to undermine the credibility of those you're disagreeing with.
Just saying man.
FWIW I'm British(ish) and I ain't big on all this UK vs USA nonsense, but starting threads like this does absolutely nothing to improve anything. Maybe try doing something a little more positive with your time - something worth emulating - and maybe you'll drag some folk along with you?
I hear ya man...I would say that imho, how could you expect someone to change their ways/biases, if they aren't aware of them?
My thread was not intended to demean, but rather to highlight...a friendly mirror to the face of some people on here who perhaps do not realize their biases and over-rating.
As mentioned previously, I think this board could be a lot better, in a lot of ways...and one of those ways is if we became more of boxing fans on here, rather than fans of our own crew/tribe/country.
The sport needs fans too...but on a boxing forum I would expect more detached reasonable discussion from 'hardcore' fans than currently happens on here.
The Brits overhype all their athletes, not just boxers. Maybe some of it comes from their government-funded sports system, in which fair to middling athletes can get paid, whether they perform on the world stage or not.
I referenced the type of fighters I feel are 'overhyped' by the UK in my main post...perhaps you should give it another look.
AJ is obviously a bit overhyped as well, or was...look who he lost to...but of course he is a very good fighter as well.
I like to call out biases I see on this site, regardless of whether or not I am a fan of the fighter...the thread was asking a sincere question, as in my mind no country/group overrates their fighters like the UK.
When they have an OK fighter, he is hyped as a great fighter....when they have a very good fighter, he is hyped as a great fighter.
Occasionally they get it right and hype a truly great fighter - Fury for example...or they get behind someone who is great but limited and they acknowledge that - Froch for example.
