Yeah, we’re on the same page. I never saw Fury as an amateur, but I recall the first time I saw him fight. His moniker “Too Fast” preceded him, and the nickname struck me as some silly marketing ploy. A 6’9” fighter with his body type? Please. Then I saw him move... Lol
Tyson (very) realistically has a chance to become the biggest heavyweight draw since Mike Tyson. His personality and charisma can’t be taught or bought. Haters always gonna hate; but I don’t care what anyone says, this guy is great for the sport.
As for Wilder, he can still KO anyone not named Fury. And even Tyson has to watch himself.
Yeah Fury has that magnetic type personality, he’s very engaging and with this ESPN platform behind him he’s becoming a real star.
With Wilder’s power he’s always gonna be dangerous for any HW.
Same here, I like the both of them. I’m a big Fury than though, I always thought there was something special about him and that’s going back to the amateur’s. We all know Wilder’s flaws but he’s still an incredibly dangerous fighter, personally I only think Fury beats him out of the current crop of HW’s, and I genuinely believe Fury is the best HW since Lennox, so no shame in losing to him.

Tyson was a complete fighter with KO power in both hands.
Fury had that strategy because Wilder is a one trick pony.
Bigger heavyweights that tried to walk prime Tyson down ate some uppercuts and went down quickly.
Tyson is a good, almost great, fighter but I don’t think he gives KO’d Dynamite Tyson too much trouble TBH.
Here we go again with this BS......... :lol1:
Michael Spinks was a world class HW who fought in the division multiple times before getting iced.
Larry Holmes was also world class. He went 12 rounds with PRIME Evander 4 years after being knocked out cold by Mike.
Bruno and Ruddock were also world class.
I’d argue Spinks was a world class fighter but not a world class HW. Still a good win though.
Holmes was past his prime, he was still decent but was nowhere near an elite fighter. He was inactive and in decline, it’s comparable to AJ beating Wlad IMO.
Bruno and Ruddock are underrated wins, I agree with that, but neither were world class IMO. Bruno maybe, certainly not Ruddock.
I cant pick against Mike, but in truth its such a freakshow of a stylistic match up that its hard to even visualise it. They never fought anyone remotely resembling each other. I dont think Mike could even reach to punch Fury in the face while Fury trying to punch that far down against someone with Mikes defensive style, speed and head movement would be a spectacle too.
It is a weird one to imagine... was thinking that myself. There’s basically an entire foot between them in size.
If Fury had Mike's mental strength and Mike and Fury's mental strength. Mike would win.
Fury's mental game is up there with Ali's
Fury has so much self belief, I think that’s probably his greatest strength in terms of his mentality.
Manny Steward actually compared him to Ali in that infamous interview in 2012, where he basically predicts exactly how the HW landscape would unfold.
100%... completely agree.

At least I think anyone will agree, that intimidation factor of Tyson would not play a role in this matchup. Fury is not the type to be intimidated in the slightest.
Any world class HW who stood up to Mike beat him.
Journeyman Douglas was the first man who ever went in with no fear, and he knocked Mike out.
Pretty much all the people he knocked out were beaten before they got in the ring with him.

Thanks, man. I’m becoming a real fan of Fury. (Truth be told, I like Wilder, too.) I think we might be witnessing the next truly great heavyweight champion, the man who brings the division definitively back to the forefront — provided he keeps his head on straight, of course.

Yall are thinking of the Kevin McBride version and your fresh off the victory of a tall lanky skinny guy with no legs. Prime Tyson always gets inside. HE WILL THROW DEVASTATING BODY SHOTS TO THAT FLABBY MIDSECTION AND THE HEAD WILL FALL!!!
Anyone that knows me knows that I'm a huge Fury fan.
The win against Wilder was really impressive but Wilder is pretty overrated tbh.
John Fury got it spot on in the interview before the fight saying that Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe and Mike Tyson would have KO'd Tyson Fury in 2 rounds a year ago, the same Fury that Deontay lost on points too.
We have seen how both of them deal with adversity.
Mike implodes and feels like a victim.
Fury fights back with everything he has got.
Mike is a mental midget.
Fury is a mental giant.
Prime Tyson would have absolutely obliterated Fury without question. He'd have been just another notch on the highlight reel - and this is coming from a Fury fan.
Mid-nineties Tyson would still have been far too much for Fury (or any of the other top heavies today), as would Lewis and Holyfield.
Hell, even 2000s Tyson would have had a good go at breaking his arm lol.
Tyson obliterates Fury.
Gtfoh y’all with your nerd fantasies.
Good post... I agree.
