AJ used to be seen as the best of the best at HW, and he was set to make more money for himself than TMT. A real bogeyman.
Now, one year and one reality check later and he’s been completely dismantled by a part-time boxer / construction worker with heavy hands and a big beer belly. He just recently won a very jittery rematch on points in which he fought terrified against said construction worker who did not even train at all — unless you count throwing back a couple dozen six-packs and taking several plates per meal of various sushi, tacos, and other delicious foods.
This leaves me wondering who of the current crop Joshua can beat. His rematch win against Ruiz does not tell us much.
How do you think Joshua fares in these hypothetical matchups?
Joshua v. Fury
Joshua v. Wilder
Joshua v. Usyk
Joshua v. Pulev
Joshua v. Hunter
Joshua v. Dubois
Joshua v. Whyte (rematch)
Joshua v. Parker (rematch)
In my opinion I would put him favourite against all but wilder.
Joshua v. Fury - for me Joshua has a decent boxing ability which means fury won’t be able to simply outbox him like he did wilder. With fury lacking any KO product it gives Joshua the edge in my view.
Joshua v. Wilder - will come down to who hits who first. Joshua has the boxing ability and KO power to win this , wilder would be a very slight favourite.
Joshua v. Usyk - this one is really hard to call. Usyk is arguably the best cruiserweight of all time, can he do a Holyfield though? We don’t really know yet
Joshua v. Pulev - tough opponent but Joshua should have too much
Joshua v. Hunter - similar time Pulev, Hunter is improving but not done enough to trouble the elite yet from what I have seen
Joshua v. Dubois - Dubois hasn’t yet got to the relevant heights to prove he is capable at elite level. Even if he is , he is well behind on experience
Joshua v. Whyte (rematch) - would be a different fight because both have improved but Joshua would be a strong favourite and rightly so
Joshua v. Parker (rematch) - Joshua easily outboxed him already, so we even want a rematch?
Joshua beats the Fury that showed up against Otto Wallin but loses a decision to the one that fought Wilder
I have to favor Wilder to catch AJ at this point
Haven't seen much from Usyk at heavyweight (beating Chazz Witherspoon doesn't tell us much) so for now I favor Joshua
AJ beats Pulev by decision. Pulev is still solid but getting long in the tooth
Joshua stops Hunter late, he's just on a higher level
Dubois is talented but I can't pick him over AJ right now
AJ stops Dillian Whyte again
AJ probably stops Parker this time.
Agree with everything said here.
Best version of fury beats joshua
Joshua just beat the guy who was ranked #1 by TBRB now you want to use mandatory defences against him. You can't be serious, being a Wilder fan trying to discredit Joshua's opposition. Fury walked away from 50% or 20 mil+ to fight Joshua, to fight Wilder for less. Says it all.
It's what that goon does. But he knows your right Robbie. He's in defend a duck panic mode. But he knows. I'm actually starting to feel a bit bad for him.
Americans still buy PPV's. PBC sold over $125 mil in PPV's last year.
Wilder isn't a PPV star but this fight IMO would likely sell extremely well. how many PPV events did it take to reach that number ? 3 4 5 ? Bare in mind Joshua just made 85 million dollars in his last fight and that was not PPV.
Here is the problem that we have wilder has already stated he wants 50/50 for a Joshua fight and Joshua is already in the ball bark of making 40 million dollars each fight which means wilder will want the same.
Are you saying this fight will do over 2 million ppv to cover the purses of Joshua and wilder ? I doubt it can do over 1.4 million views in my opinion
Joshua v. Fury
A weak fight of two not very brave fighters; for 99% decision, rather to Fury.
Joshua v. Wilder
Wilder by KO; Joshua showed that his chin is very weak.
Joshua v. Usyk
Joshua by KO, Usyk is too weak for HW.
Joshua v. Pulev
Joshua by KO, Pulev is weak and old.
Joshua v. Hunter
Joshua by KO, Hunter is too weak for HW.
Joshua v. Dubois
Joshua by decision, fighting like in Ruiz 2.
Joshua v. Whyte (rematch)
Joshua by KO, Whyte is very weak.
Joshua v. Parker (rematch)
Parker by decision; this time Parker will be smarter.
So whatever suits your agenda then. :lol1: :nonono: Joshua has consistently fought top fighters since becoming champion. That's more than Wilder or Fury has done.
Yes. Now, wilder is fighting top 3 guys while AJ is fighting Bulgaria’s union worker of the year.
Pretty harsh to discredit Ruiz in such a way and if you listen to his sparring partners, that dude was going to work, everyday.
I think AJ can beat anyone in the HW division and is likely the toughest opponent for all of them. That doesn't mean he even beats any of them. I'm simply saying he hits like a truck with both hands, can box well and considering how late he turned to boxing, he clearly has a natural finesse for the sport.
Even if you discount the gold medal, he took silver in the world championships and was beating the very best HWs in the world after like 15 amateur fights, then went onto unify as a pro after 21 fights! He was and still is a phenom.
That doesn't mean he can't get sparked out by somebody though :D
4 of Joshua's last 6 opponents have been ranked top 5. Do you always talk utter shite?
We’re not talking the past, we are talking the future. Pay attention Robbie.
How do you think Joshua fares in these hypothetical matchups?
Joshua v. Fury: Fury outboxes Joshua but AJ can floor Fury. 55-45 with Fury winning if it goes the distance.
Joshua v. Wilder: Wilder probably wins, 55-45 for Wilder.
Joshua v. Usyk: Joshua wins by KO
Joshua v. Pulev: Joshua wins by KO possibly in round one or very early.
Joshua v. Hunter: Joshua wins in later rounds
Joshua v. Dubois: Tough fight. Currently, AJ has a slight edge but in another year Dubois wins.
Joshua v. Whyte (rematch): Joshua wins by KO
Joshua v. Parker (rematch): Joshua wins on points
Fury most likely outpoints him and wins a wide UD.
Vs Wilder is pretty much 50/50. Whoever lands first.
Pulev should be another day at the office.
Beats Parker (again), Whyte (again) and Hunter but they wouldnt be easy fights.
I'd have him 60/40 favourite over Dubois and Usyk.
Beats all these bums except Wilder, Dubois (once he's proved himself against serious contenders) and Fury. AJ hasn't been impressive since 2017.
- -Big Dummy impersonator!
...priceless!!!
With all respect, I’m not sure what you mean.
AJ seems like a great guy, but he was exposed against Ruiz in the first fight. He looked great in the rematch, but he was fighting a guy who didn’t even train.
Wilder and even Fury are ranked much higher than AJ in my opinion at this time. AJ has a better resume, but I’m simply talking about where they all are AT THIS MOMENT, regarding physical skill level and mental fitness.
It is possible, according to an interview AJ did with Bunce, that a serious medical condition caused AJ severe fatigue and required surgery. This was not adequately explained, but seemed to imply some kind of heart condition to me.
If this was the case, and AJ blows everyone away they put in front of him, I will readily and happily admit on this forum that I was wrong about AJ.
But until that becomes clear, AJ is looking a bit like a guy who was lucky for most of his career and had great matchmaking. But I’m not sure he is as good as we were led to believe, or if he will ever be mentally where people like Wilder, Fury, or Mayweather are. He just doesn’t seem to have the same level of mental toughness and self-belief.
Let me know what you think. I enjoy a good boxing debate and as far as I’m concerned, it’s all meant in a friendly manner.
- -No Debate.
FACT-----Fury/Deyonce turned down big $ to stink up each other for Milk Duds.
- -Do tell us much with U faerie tales.

Lol tease away, while you defend ducking it will be mentioned. And it doesn't get much worse than boxing fans defending blatant duckers.
I remember when finkel talked like you are here, it needs to be on ppv, maximise the profits bla bla. Which is nice but they ain't making any offers. As soon as finkel said what he said he then talked about filling wilders calendar with in-house fights.
So it can't go on DAZN so the offers need to come from the PBC and that just isnt happening. Truth is they can't afford to guarantee Joshua or wilder what DAZN would and they wont let it go to DAZN so they are just avoiding any attempts or talk of that fight getting made. That is a duck. A straight up duck and I'm calling them on it and your defending them doing it and also are guilty of trying to shift the blame on to Joshua when you know damn well it's wilders people that have evaded this fight all along.
Calling it ducking means just like Robbie you’d rather frame it in a childish way rather than a rational boxing fan way.
If calling wilder a duck makes you feel better go right ahead.
We can see in their upcoming competition who is ducking whom. Only one of them is fighting top 5 opponents.
More childishness. The fight is going to be on PPV because it generates the most revenue. It will likely be a fox/sky joint PPV presentation or a fox/dazn joint PPV.
Your response to the teasing of AJ losing and the insecurities the loss exposed is making you all act unbelievably small and immature.

wilder is not a ppv star it’s that simple , and ppv is no longer a viable option because Americans just don’t buy it , Joshua just made an 85 million dollar purse fighting Ruiz on DAZN
