Fact is that if you pay for a crappy fight they will come out with more. Another fact is that boxing is the theater of the unknown and you never know what fight could be a gem.

Plain and simple. If you keep paying PPV or supporting fighters for ****ty fights, then they'll keep making a revenue for ****ty fights and not making the important fights happen. Do not watch ****ty fights or simply stream them. Or watch them later on youtube for free. The type of people who post on this site are such a tiny tiny percentage of the boxing audience that every single hardcore "internet" fan could stop watching boxing tomorrow and it really wouldn't matter. In a broader sense, you're correct that when fighters stop making money in lesser fights, they'll be forced to fight tougher fights, but that's already the case for most fighters any way. A very small percentage of fighters have things easy. Most have to take very tough fights to try to get noticed, to try to get themselves up the ratings, to try to get themselves eliminators and hopefully a title shot, etc. Fans should watch whatever interests them and not watch what doesn't interest them. These things take care of themselves. The biggest issue right now is that we have 3 sides of the street, when the best thing for fans is 1 side of the street.
