Just an announcement for those who ain't yet seen it on the 2020 discussion thread, we've had confirmation from BIGPOPPAPUMP that the prizes for the 2020 Pick Em will be the same as they were for 2019: 1st Place: $300 2nd Place: $150 3rd Place: $50 Once again, thanks to the 'Scene and BigPoppa for this great gesture of support.

Ok Gentlemen, I know not all of you are Pick Em players but I figured I'd make a general announcement in a shameless effort to recruit more players for next years game.:lol1: So. Ninety fights down and we've reached the final evening of the 2019 NSB Pick Em competition, and I can only hope you've all enjoyed the game this year as much as I and the rest of the team have. It's genuinely been a pleasure. Now, ever since we took the game over from BroBob - nearly 2 years ago now - it's been my intention to approach the site about the possibility of offering some support in the form of prizes, whether it was just User points, or perhaps vouchers or merchandise... IDK.. honestly I wasn't particularly hopeful but figured it had to be worth a try. Anyways I finally got round to PMing Big Poppa on Christmas Eve, possibly after a drink or two, asking if the 'Scene could come up with something - their choice - if nothing else to drum up more interest for next season. Anyways.. I thought maybe some crap merchandise or something, maybe a points drop... last thing I was expecting was a simple, laconic PM back about 2 minutes later in the form of a list: 1st PRIZE $300 2nd PRIZE $150 3rd PRIZE $50 (payable by paypal) I figured it was as well to keep in under my hat til after the Christmas festivities had passed and save it for tonight when hopefully we should get maximum exposure. So. There we go gentlemen... $500 courtesy of the 'Scene and way more than I'd even imagined. I know this years' competition is all but decided already but we'll make a formal announcement and Prizegiving once the scores from tonights fights are totted up. So. There we have it Gentlemen. The 2019 PICK EM is finally wrapped up and we have our winners. In first place, Baltimore with 2720 pts and also a chart topping 81% hit rate. More impressively still he established an effectively unbridgeable gap between himself and the rest of the pack despite missing out on 3 of the 86 possible Picks he could have made this year. Except for a brief slump in the pre-summer period Baltimore has been close to or atop the rankings and from August onwards it started to become clear that barring some freak accident (which I did give a little thought to arranging at one point) he would go on to become this years eventual winner with only an impressive late run by ruedboy providing any kind of challenge. Baltimore takes home this years 1st Prize of $300 courtesy of the 'Scene and on top of that another 20k points for having the highest Correct % of the 2019 season. Exceptional playing man, and i can only hope you'll join us next year, although perhaps I'll be thinking about some kinda handicap system, cos man... when you're on form it ain't even fair...:lol1: Second place this year is ruedboy and like Baltimore he's never been far from the top few places and in the second half has been the only player to even get within shouting range of the winner. Quite aside from his overall score ruedboy also manged an incredible streak of 22 successive correct picks, which given the nature of the sport and the inevitable random ish and upsets we get ain't a record I can see being broken any time soon. That nets you 20k points my man. Ruedboy also scored the greatest number of total correct picks of any player (69) partly simply by dint of being one of only a handful of players who played in every possible Pick Em this year. Damn, man, I pretty much ran the thing and I still missed a couple!:lol1: That's another 20k right there. For second place ruedboy wins $150 courtesy of the 'Scene. Congratulations man, been an exceptional performance this year. Third place and $50 goes to Chrismart who despite a slightly slower start to the year than our other winners has nailed it in the second half with consistent, solid picking - especially in the last 2 months pulling him just a nose ahead of the following pack. Well done man! Other honourable mentions and Points prizes go to koolkc and Idunnoshet (once again proving he knows his shet plenty) for compiling the most perfect (result, method and detail) correct picks with 22 each - though investigations are now underway into the possible use of supernatural assistance :lol1: Kudos gents. 10K points each coming your way. And that, I think, just about wraps it up for the year. Once again I'd like to say both for myself and for the rest of the CREW this year - NC, otrocubiche and assistance from Cauliflower Ears and HeadBodyx3 - just what a pleasure it's been doing this ish and getting to know you all just a bit better and hopefully having some fun along the way. Snowplow severed the cable to our internet but taking a break from Paw Patrol will be good for me.... Thanks for doing all this, Koba. Always fun to participate in the pick ems. :lol1: Paw Patrol... if I never have to hear that theme ever again it'll be too soon, only positive is that it's moderately less psychosis inducing than Baby Shark. Lil'uns liking Masha and the Bear at the moment and I'm liking the production quality and old school vibe but damn if that cute little terror ain't giving him ideas...

Had a little scan through before though and I think you and Chrismart scored the same, and none of the guys breathing down your neck had any multipliers left either. Only about 3 people picked Pascal for the win and none of them were close enough to make a difference to the top slots... so... erm...
