I watched the card at a party last night and was a little drunk to be fair and the party was getting messy and i was surrounded with Casuals who would not stop telling me their opinions when i was trying to concentrate on the fight.
Hunter v Povetkin looked a good fight, fight of the night? But from my obstructed view and obstructed concentration i felt that was a close but clear win for Hunter. Povetkin had his fair share of successes and a couple of times i thought Hunter was going down. But to me Hunter was picking off more rounds than the Russian was. Without actually scoring it i felt like at the end there would be a 3 or 4 round gap in Hunters favour on the cards.
But 1st chance i got to jump on the old social media it seemed the majority of people were happy enough with a draw, I heard more calls for Hunter winning than Povetkin but even those people were only giving it to Hunter by 1 and they felt a draw was fair enough.
Would that be the general feeling on the forum too?
Obvious conspiracy draw because they didn't want me to win any money on Saturday.
Haha naw it was a good decision I think. I personally had Povetkin edging it by 2 rounds but I agree with most that it could have gone the other way as well.
There was no knockdown, close fight. Had it 7-5 Hunter, but felt he needed to get Povetkin on the ground to secure the victory. Just not enough. Povetkin looks washed though. Fringe top 10, top 20 at best now.
Povetkin won the fight if the knockdown was scored and hurt by who ? He was last stunned by W.Klitschko and AJ and in non territorial place most likely wins this one.
You got a lot better on here since 2015 but lets not get crazy, Povetkin is in the mix win ,lose or draw.
perhaps he did. That's what I said in the round by round thread as well. in the last round or two, I saw Hunter being much more hurt than what Povetkin seemed to see in the ring.
But the Povekin of 2015 or so would have finished Hunter imo. He looked a little bit too old for my liking and took much more punishment from an average guy than he should have. And he was hurt multiple times that is a fact.
Based on that, I'd say that he looks past it. I'm willing to reconsider, but I doubt I will.
I was fine with draw. It could have gone either way.
Hunter is still green and undersized. I would get him more seasoning before going for a title. Povetkin has not been the same since being busted for peds.
Still it was a good fight.
I think Hunter started very aggressive that gave the impression he's out there outclassing Povetkin. However, I have Povetkin winning most rounds and the match overall. Hunter was also trying to rough up Povetkin.
Povetkin the winner for me.
This...
Povetkin was definitely in control for most of the fight except the first round and one other.
I thought he got the win, and so did Mannux, but am okay with the draw.
In either case, that uncalled KD when Hunter was saved by the ropes stole his victory.
Ortiz vs Povetkin before either of them hang it up
I had Povetkin winning a close bout, he started really slow. If you rewatch the fight Povetkin had Hunter stumbling in the 12th but somehow didn't finish it. If it were a 15 round fight it'd be KO victory for Sasha
That would be a good fight, but I can only see Povetkin taking it if it was a direct mandatory and since Ortiz has lost twice by KO I just can't see it.
I think Povetkin will fight Hunter again, lose and then retire. He just doesn't seem to have it anymore unfortunately.
Fair result in general. I think i had Hunter one round up, but he looked weak after a couple of rounds. I thought Pov hurt him in the end but didn't have the youth to spot it and finish him.
Think Povetkin should consider hanging them up before getting hurt again.

Povetkin the winner for me.
I had Hunter winning 6 clear rounds, Povetkin winning 4 clear rounds, which were 3,4,5 and 12, and two rounds that could have went either way. I felt if anyone deserved to win, it was Hunter.

Wrong thread, I voted for Haye vs Kiltschko being a bigger let down 'Not because of Haye's lack of effort, I just feel as if he could of left it all in the ring abit more etc'
He most certainly redeemed himself when he fought Tony Bellew in their first fight 'That was the perfect time to retire, he lost the boxing match but? Gained massive respect/admiration in his losing effort'.
Haha, bro. I swear to God I posted in the right thread. Not the first time BoxingScene has sent my post into the wrong thread. :Flush:
Haye went into Wlad's backyard and had the Klitschko's pulling all the dirty under-handed tricks to try and have him beaten before the opening bell. Haye trained properly and gave it his all, Wlad was just too big and too good for Haye. No shame in that, at least Haye tried. People like to hate on Haye more than is necessary. I get the impression a lot of them never actually seen the fight.

I thought the Draw was fair.
Hunter started fast and finished strong but Povetkin looked like the more natural heavyweight ( and some consider him small for HW ).
Povetkin was Landing Alot of hard combinations in the mid rounds. While at times it seemed Hunters legs weren't completely under him.
I had Povetkin edging it but a draw seemed like the right call.
IMO Hunter's too small for HW.
He might get Calvin Brocked against the Giants of the division.
