Nope, because Wilder was getting schooled and he knows all he needs is one good shot and whether anyone likes it or not, that is without a doubt, all time great HW power. God made man and power made man un-equal lol. Wilder is destined to lose in his prime but who can do it? I mean, I don't see anyone that can right now. He can f@ck you up with your guard fully up and bracing for it. It's absurd.
Ortiz definitely took a dive. That twiching neck and eyes rolling back on his way down scream fix. He was not the same king kong we are use to seeing in previous fights.
People are ridiculous thinking boxing is fixed.
These dudes don't like Wilder... Period. But what's funny is they were always shyting on "100 year old" Ortiz anyway so why did the fight need to be fixed if he was fighting a fossil with "high blood pressure"
Yeah, I watched the fight. I commented through the RBR thread how ridiculous of a farce it is throughout. Ortiz dominated in a way that 1 is infinitely better than 0, because that's how much Wilder tried.
Those 2 punches you mention were the only ones that had a chance of tickling Ortiz. Look at the speed of the prior punches in the 6 rounds and compare it to the punch that KO Ortiz. If you want bonus points, take any other previous Wilder fight and compare the speed of his punches in those fights vs. that out. Wilder didn't expect to KO Ortiz that early.
Ortiz barely kept his gloves up throughout the whole fight even though Wilder's best shot (the one that he threw ONCE the whole fight, that ended the fight, is a straight right). This fight wasn't fixed, but Ortiz was old and slow, and Wilder extended the fight. It takes balls to do what Wilder did, but good god, Ortiz has no business in a boxing ring anymore.
It was fairly comparable to Wilder-Washington fight.
Did you watch the fight??
Ortiz isn’t a killer and I’m not sure anyone thought that. I think majority thought Ortiz would win a few rounds (maybe 3??) then his tiredness would kick in and wilder would knock him out.
He actually absolutely dominated to the extent where you would find it very difficult to give wilder a single round. I haven’t listened to the bias boxing voice live feed yet but I may do to see how they were scoring it, but I know mixed combat radio (which is much fairer) had it all one way. Sky sports pundits all had it 6-0 aswell, the same as me.
I don’t think wilder could have finished him any earlier, he didn’t seem capable. But he got two hits in, one at the very end of previous round (6) as the bell went and then this one which Ortiz was finished with. I do think he should have got up - I considered this far more of a quit than Joshua as a comparison , who got up a few times before being unable to continue.

It wasn't fixed in the least, but anyone who buys into the narrative of Ortiz being a killer and dominating the fight is an imbecile. Wilder knew that Ortiz was badly outmatched and didn't throw anything to keep the farce going. Dude could have ended Ortiz in the 1st if he wanted to.

Not sure why every fight outcome has to be “fixed” these days. I’d would like to hear Ortiz explain why he moved to his left into the ropes and directly into wilder’s right hand instead of moving to his right into the wide open centre of the ring tho.

The fight was not fixed! The real problem is that there are a subset of fans who thought Ortiz had a chance. Ortiz's best chance was in the first fight before Wilder had him figured out and while he was younger. There was no reason to play it back. It takes Wilder some time to set himself up to land those big shots when a fighter is tricky but when he does it is lights out. Ortiz is older and hasn't improved while Wilder is getting better.
I saw no sign of anything of that sort. Even the official cards were surprisingly fair. I had expected the officials to have had it closer but the two 5-1 cards seemed right on.
What was the third card? I’m not sure how any round could be given to wilder, even the seventh without the knockdown would have been an Ortiz round (although that was the first round wilder actually started and Ortiz started visibly looking tired)
Wilder lost every round. Shorten the jab in that sequence to deliver the right hand off timing it.
Don't know why people can't accept what they are seeing.
From a fixed fight to the count was too fast too when Ortiz got up he was ok. All these excuses because they do not like Wilder and can't accept what they just witnessed.
Fixed with a straight right from hell I'd say.
I'm not 100% Ortiz was quite the war machine that I'm seeing some make out, but he was still a legit top 10 HW which makes it a solid enough win in my book.
