There’s no poll for Wilder-Ortiz II. Most people are of course picking Wilder. I’ve said several times that I expect Deontay to lower the boom between the 4th and 6th rounds. My question is, who here is picking Ortiz to upset the champion?
Maybe Ortiz isn’t a top heavyweight among the current crop anymore (we’ll see tonight), but he was two years ago. It could also be that Luis, like a lot of athletes, rises to the level of his competition. Again, we’ll see tonight. Wilder will almost certainly be Ortiz’s career barometer. Even in losing, people may look back and say he gave a good account of himself.
I do think Ortiz is the type of lower his level according to his opposition. Not that uncommon with Cuban fighters really, some of them just do enough. Not just Cuban’s of course. Fury is the same.
I certainly expect a better Ortiz than his previous fights but still.
To me, in his last few fights it didn’t just seem like he under performed, it looked like an old fighter in there. Hopefully i’m wrong and we get a good fight.
Just going on those latest performances and how old he looked, he looks like he might be too faded to compete at this level now.
I still think he’ll be dangerous for 4 rounds, but he can’t change gears after that and will fade.
Not me
Ortiz has looked garbage in his last few fights. Looks old and can’t go through the gears.
He hasn’t done anything of note in his career except beat Jennings years ago, and Jennings isn’t exactly a world beater. Ortiz has faced one top opponent and got stopped because that’s his level.
Of course he can win, he hits hard enough, so there’s a punchers chance. In reality, the talk of Ortiz being a top heavyweight is a myth.

Yep, I am. Been saying it from the start. Ortiz about to become the first Cuban heavyweight champ. The funny thing is though, I had a dream a couple days ago that Wilder knocked him out in the 3rd round. Ortiz came out putting the pressure on him and even rockin him with a great hard left hook, but he got overconfident when he thought he had him and ate a monster right hand
Damn, brother, you even dream about boxing. Lol You sound pretty confident about Ortiz. I hope you’re right. I think he would’ve had a better shot five years ago, but whatever.

Well, I did go so far as to pick Ortiz for my NSB PICK EMS, KO, Late.
I suppose I'll be picking against Wilder until he loses, unless it's against non-contenders. A good Top 10 contender has a decent shot against Wilder, imo.
I guess any good heavyweight has a chance of landing a KO punch, but it’s not so easy. Wilder’s got a decent chin and heart. He showed that in round seven of the first fight. And you’re gonna risk getting smoked yourself if you try and test that chin.

do you watch boxing? why would they let ortiz win? money to be made here(or so they think). we can't have that
Lol I do believe Ortiz is gonna try his best to KO Wilder. It’s his only chance. If it goes to the cards — which it probably won’t — it’s highly unlikely Luis gets the nod. On that I agree.
The talent is there and he's the better boxer of the two, but .... 40 years old is 40 years old. If he gets hurt late in the fight, I highly doubt he's going to recover.
The chances are high that Ortiz is gonna take a good shot sooner or later. That’s why you have to go with Wilder. Twelve rounds is a long time to avoid that nuclear right.

Yeah I shoulda locked in my meager Ortiz by TKO/KO bet yesterday at 6/1 stead of 5/1 but ah well prolly just throwing my money into the ocean anyway
Lol Probably. But as long as you’re not betting heavy, the odds make it a fun diversion. I expect Wilder to win, but it wouldn’t shock me if Ortiz pulls the upset.
I figured they would.

Hell no. I’m not picking an upset. I’m picking Wilder to decorate the ringside spectators with Ortiz’s muthafugging brain matter. A man is going to die in that ring.
Woah. Easy there, bro. Haha
