Kovalev fought like GBP was deducting 500K from his purse for every hard right hand he threw.:D
I swear the first time i watched GGG vs Canelo i felt like the contract forbid body punches or something.
Idc what anyone says it was weird when GGG just let him off the hook when Canelo was gassed on the ropes. He coulda finished him!!
I've read here (not sure if it's reliable) that Kovalev just had hand surgery.
Is this correct?
Maybe the only way the fight could be made. Kovalev had to prove his hands were broken and send CAnelo X-Rays.
It's not a surgery. It's PRP-therapy. Plasmolifting, plasmoplastics or whatever it's called in the US. Blood plasma enriched by thrombocytes is injected into the problem area to accelerate the renewal of the tissue.
Prolo therapy?
Just playing devil's advocate since I don't really believe Kov a lot but maybe he injured it during the fight and didn't pick up on it until the adrenaline wore off.
Theoretically possible.
I've already posted that likely what Kov would say was scripted beforehand along with the directive to not throw hard as I had predicted before the fight: https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=831340
When he said he was tired after 6, I think that was the bottom line. Pitter pat punching was about all he could do if he was to have any hope of reaching the finish line.
Look up his instagram.

You do know that he didn't cite this alleged hand job IIRC when asked just after the fight why he didn't throw his right more.

Is that why he didnt throw his right hand? What type of surgery is it exactly?
McGirt did say after one of those rounds "dont worry about the right", as if he finally wanted Kovalev to ignore the pain and throw it. Something was wrong anyway.
