Looking at the Dev fight I was asking myself how a prime Manny would do vs this version of GGG. I say if he can take the punch, GGG covers up all night but Manny could get KO too. Whats your thought?
Prime Manny > Current GGG
Prime Manny vs Prime GGG is some scary shi.t.
I wouldn't watch that even if they pay me. Too much violence.
That is an insane fight but Manny would get brutalized. He has nowhere near the power to hurt GGG in his prime.
bruh!! prime pac was even more reckless! the best version of pac imo was against cotto.. i've spoken highly of that version but even that version of pac will not be able to beat ggg at 160!
GGG is not even fast enough to counter slower fighters and he's not a counter puncher anyways. Pac will be in/out and gone before he lands anything significant. GGG looked trash vs. SD. And I'm honestly saying this as a GGG fan.
yeah, but manny gets hit often, especially in his prime. he was way more aggressive and reckless. the best version of pac was against cotto imo, and even in that fight, pac got hit a lot.
look at his ears after the fight lol. prime pac will light ggg up for as long as it last but im pretty sure manny will go down in the later rounds. this is not me taking shots at pac. im a big fan but i just cant see him beating ggg at 160. that's too much bro. ggg will come into the ring 170+. this aint margarito man lol.
- -Marg 165 in the ring that night.
Same no prisoners style but not the same Manny.
Dumb thread...
I think you're a fool for even bringing up this matchup.
Manny Pacquiao is a small welterweight so why the fucc would you even mention Pacquiao and Triple g as a potential matchup???
Some posters will do any dumb topic just to give Manny a mention.
Did Manny ever fight at 160?
p4p where weight doesn't matter. Manny is the better boxer though. He could possibly get caught but Golovkin can't walk down a guy who jumps in, throws 5 punches, then jumps out and throws 4 more punches when you try to retaliate... while going backwards.
Manny eats a lot of punches. That's just his style, so it's possible he can get dropped by something but is GGG really a 1 punch KO guy? Not really. He's a consistent level of power that accumulates to a KO after repetitive strikes.
So, it depends on if GGG can get enough punches landed to knock him out and I am guessing that won't happen because Manny just throws too many damn punches and his hand speed is too much. it'll look like Thurman all over again and that's not even the same Pac that fought Clottey.
Understood but styles make fights and GGG is not a counterpuncher like Floyd and Marquez. Manny only had trouble with counter punchers.

Its too hard for Manny , no CW or non injured 160 guy will launch Manny into outer space.
Weight classes are hard coded until you drain the bigger guy or he is class below, if the big guy is near the same class and in top form the little guy will be beaton probably badly.
All things being equal the bigger guy will win, been a boxing quote since the 1800s and it holds true for any form of one vs one fist fight.
Manny is atg, one of the best to ever lace up a pair of gloves but lets be real. He is too small to beat any of the elites of 160 or maybe even 154 cause of the size disparity. He is a very small WW and I really think he is a natural 140 lb fighter who could even make lightweight with a good nutritionist in a full 12 week training camp.
Prime Manny > Brook by a long, long way. So that logic just doesn't work. Current GGG would not lay a glove on prime Manny. I consider prime Manny the one that crushed and knocked out Cotto who later because the MW champ by obliterating Martinez.
Youre acting like Pac didnt get hit at all vs Cotto or Margo. He got hurt a lot. Yeah he busted them up far worse in exchanges but thats the thing... could he get the better of GGG in exchanges?
GGG isnt going to be like a 36 year old 147lb Oscar.
And what does Cotto-Martinez tell us about anything? Did you see that fight? If Martinez reported the true state of his knees to the commission they would have called off the fight, he was wearing fuking braces in the fight. I would pick prime Pac to stop that version of Martinez too.
Since this isn't a street fight and there's a sweet science to this, I think a prime Pacquiao vs this current GGG would have a solid chance to win a UD. If Pacquiao fought this current GGG like he did against Oscar Hatton and Cotto then I don't see why he wouldn't be able to pull out the UD. This current GGG has power still but prime Pacquiao should be able to take a few. Who knows, the way this current GGG's face marks up, Pacquiao may be able to Cott/Margarito his face. Prime Floyd would beat this current GGG to a UD as well.
Cotto still busted Pac's ear drum... because Pac sometimes gets riled up and likes to trade. Margo hurt Pac a lot in the process too. GGG is still going to land some on little Pac and its going to hurt A LOT.
The current version of GGG was very mummy like and his punches had very little snap or speed on them. Power is useless when it doesn't land. Remember, we're talking about PRIME Pac vs. this old, shot version of GGG.
GGG's punches didnt have much affect on another career middleweight. I think GGG needs to slide a lot more. He can still move around in there.
I think Prime Pac could beat the busted leg hobbling 40 year old Martinez that Cotto fought for example. GGG isnt that level of gone yet. When Pac lit up a shot Oscar at 147, he was very weak, I assume we are talking about a GGG at 160 that is going to be his normal 170lbs on fight night.
Prime Pac was basically the guy lighting up Cotto and Margarito.
That Pac didnt weigh even 150 on fight night.
GGG weighs 170 or more on fight night.
Look at GGG vs the size of a fat Oscar, GGG is much larger.

Look at GGG with Lomachenko on his right. At welterweight, Manny is about 10 lbs heavier than Loma but he is actually an inch or two shorter.

GGG has an iron jaw and at least as fast or faster than Margo who still busted up Manny pretty good and had him pissing blood, GGG hits significantly harder.

True. Well lets put it this way than. GGG going to 154 for the fight. What your thought?
154 at this age....... He gon be King Tut literally. Manny maybe by ref stoppage
Prime Manny got hurt by that Mummy Margarito as soon as he got him on the ropes.
Weight classes for a reason. And when these guys fight against bigger guys they always pick certain boxers with certain attributes they can take advantage of.
GGG aint a mummy, has a good jab, Manny not gonna be able to avoid him for 12 rounds.
