Just rewatched it and it was an extremely close and tough fight to score!
Taylor did a great job of smothering lots of Regis’ work and Regis did a great job of attacking the body!
I had the first round even with Regis pulling it off with 6-5 due to cleaner punches and more consistent body attack and actually hurt Taylor 3x in the fight!
It was in the UK which is a home away from home for Taylor in an extremely close fight so Regis knew it would be closer in a close match that would go to Taylor!
He should’ve put his foot down and fought just as tough as Taylor did but credit to Josh for realizing that he needed to walk down Prograis and not allow him to get off at mid range or long range!
This was a intriguing fight, where the smaller guy was the better outside boxer and the bigger guy was the better inside fighter!
These guys could fight 10x and I would watch it 10x!
I appreciate these two warriors for creating a classic war where no man was really dominated or that much better!
Both are on each other level even though one man loss, it’s boxing and it happens!
A draw would’ve been better IMO!
7-5 Taylor
He won the Battle on the inside and BULLIED Prograis on the inside which I did not expect and that is credit to Taylor
We have to stop with excuses and discrediting fighters every chance we get because he wasn't the guy some of you wanted to win
Nothing but respect for Taylor and Prograis! Prograis himself is not even complaining or making excuses like some fans
I thought Taylor won easily and clearly. I could give Prograis only 4 rounds tops with Taylor winning at least 8 rounds and I was rooting for Prograis.
I had it 7-5 Taylor
6-6 would’ve been ok, I could find 6 rounds for Prograis but I think 7 would’ve been a bit of a stretch
If there’s a winner, then it’s Taylor
Home advantage really benefited Taylor.
The fight wasvery, very close but i thought Taylor just nicked it by taking control through the middle rounds.
Prograis was good, but he lost his momentum. He took the loss graciously, respect.
Taylor proved he can control a boxing match against a slick fighter AND has a solid chin.
I had it around 7-5, but could understand an 8-4 for Taylor or even a 6-6.
I definitely didn't see Prograis winning but would have not argued with a draw. So basically my scores are what the judges came up with kinda.
Would love to see a rematch, maybe even a trilogy.
People talking about home scores should watch a Canelo fight, that is where it gets shocking.
7-5 in favour of Taylor for me. I’m probably what you’d call a casual but as far as I’m concerned he did enough early on to put distance between them. Prograis finished slightly stronger but it was too late.
It was a great bout to watch - and to his credit Prograis took the defeat very well.
That cut on Taylor’s eye looked nasty though. Hope it heals ok.
What? You make no sense. You had Prograis by a round just because he won the 11th? Yeah fights aren't scored that way. :lol1:
Well I had taylor up by 1 round at the beginning of the 11th and I felt prograis won 11 and 12. I'm not sure why that is confusing but i'm going to assume you thought taylor won going away and everything else is rubbish. Your opinion, and you're entitled to it :D
It was damn close, think home advantage was the decisive factor. I'd like to see josh go to America and rematch him. Would expect Prograis to win a tight decision over there
Same as you, 6-6 but I would've given it 7-5 Prograis if I had to pick a winner. Thought he might've pulled it off by winning the last two rounds. It could've gone either way and I'm not mad at the result at all. The one thing that leaves a bad taste is that final score, tells me Prograis could've got robbed if he won clearly. Luckily, it was one of those fights that you can't really argue with the result either way, it was that close.
117:111 Taylor, thought He was landing cleaner and harder in almost every round, with Prograi's defence very poor, hands low... right hook and left uppercut working all night.
I had Prograis by a round, just because of the dominant 11th and thought he won the 12th to take the win. When a fight is that tight, the last 2 rounds really define the winner for me anyway. Equally, I did think it was quite telling that Shane had Taylor up by 1 round going into the 12th and I think the majority I've seen gave the 12th to Prograis.
Great fight regardless, a draw seems like the fairest outcome, neither guy deserved an L.
