He beat a great fighter, GGG, and he did so well against another great fighter, Floyd, that even though he lost, it was only by majority decision.
Win vs GGG, majority decision against Floyd. That's P4P #1. Can't even debate it. RESUME, b4tches!!! :lol1: :boxing:
If canelo beat his best opponents convincingly, then he’d definitely be p4p #1. It’s hard to make the claim when a lot of people had him losing his most meaningful fights.
Ring Magazine has Canelo number 3 pfp behind Loma and Crawford and De La Hoya owns Ring Magazine. Like I said pfp is just opinion and not provable fact and every fight fan has a different list as is their right.
The diva's P4P #1 because he steamrolled thru the best of British boxing from Liam Smith thru Amir Khan right up to Rocky Fielding.
Too bad Yarde lost to the Rusky or it would have been:
Any Brit from 154 to 175! Viva Mexico! :boxing:
Every boxing fan has his own personal pfp top 10 best list they can arrange anyway they like and nobody else can tell them who to put on their list or in what order. You think Canelo is number 1 then put him number 1. I think GGG beat him both fights so GGG and a few others are higher than Canelo on my pfp top 10 best list and I could care less what anyone else thinks about it. I don't tell anyone who to put on their top 10 best pfp list. That is their choice and my top 10 best pfp list is my choice.
Canelo is the golden-boy because...
1) he can fight his ass off
2) he has a huge Mexican fanbase
3) he is good-looking and marketable
4) he will fight anyone, and probably win... outboxing the rangiest, out-fighting the toughest... James Toney-like skills/etc
G should have backed up his big " anyone from 154-168 " mouth
he may have even won some of those fights...
maybe even become the A-side himself... possibly even enjoyed close/controversial wins over guys like Lara, Cotto, Saunders, Charlo, Andrade... oh, and guys like Ward/Kovalev... just like G enjoyed his close/controversial win over Derevyanchenko
while you guys made excuses for him, the boxing world moved on
Lol at giving him credit for losing a fight. I guess De La Hoya the greatest ever. But on a serious note, Canelo's #1 p4p because of his wins over Golovkin and Jacobs. No one's surpassing him p4p until they get a better win then those two or he loses.
