Beterbiev has the best win at 175 right now props to him he showed he is a true elite.
But he looked sloppy at times and Showed imo he has limited boxing skills.
We all knew he great on the inside and very strong but his defence as well as jab and footwork look weak and his movement look sloppy still very dangerous for anyone at 175 thoe but Bivol showed he has all the tools.
Gvozdyk started walking Beterbiev down.
rewatch this fight.
Beterbiev was literally potshotting through the middle rounds on his backfoot and getting the body work in that softened Gvozdyk up.
This dynamic simply will not happen with Bivol.
I did not see gvozdyk walking beterbiev down. Not sure what fight you were wathcing. This was not a difficult fight for beterbiev. Bivol is one dimensional as they come. We shall see. The fight will happen so no point in arguing anymore.
WTH
only Round 4 and 6 Gvozdyk outlanded Beterbiev in power punches.
round 1-2-3-5-7-8 was all close
round 9-10 Beterbiev
Jabs was all in favor of Beterbiev exept 1 or 2 rounds
If Bivol had more size and stopping power, I'd be more confident in his chances. Still a great fight though. Bivol is going to have to be in the best condition of his career.
He was only getting outboxed some early rounds. Beterbiev's game plan was clearly not to try to outpoint gvozdyk. He knew he was soft.

he didn't land to the body early.
I going to make it simple, Beterbiev knew he was stronger than Gvozdyk early Beterbiev knew what to do and executed the better strategy and he broke him down and got him out of there. So much for Gvozdyk being the "better technician"...clearly not the case.
beterbiev was getting outboxed when Gvozdyk was being elusive. For whatever reason Gvozdyk started walking Beterbiev down that's when Beterbiev started counter punching, going to the body and started winning. He couldn't touch Gvozdyk's body in the first few rounds.
Gvozdyk wanted to prove something.
it will be a different fight with Bivol. Beterbiev is noticeably slow and stiff btw. i don't even think he's faster than Joe Smith.
I was the the Bivol/Smith fight. Bivol got stung pretty good late. It would be interesting to see if he could avoid the power of Beterbiev for twelve rounds. On paper it looks like a great matchup. Hopefully it will happen next year after the Fanlong fight.

Nope. Bivol is overrated as ****. He's one dimensional also. Beterbiev would stop him.
Beterbiev landed early then Gvozdyk started with movement but Beterbiev kept landing some good shots. Then Gvozdyk abandoned his footwork because he was getting hurt to the body. When he stood and fought Beterbiev started landing flush shots. Its all strategy, Beterbiev knows he has power and knows how to use it. He is a methodical fighter.

Beterbiev started landing body shots BECAUSE Gvozdyk was walking him down in the mid rounds. he abandoned what worked. he was trying to prove something.

I think Gvozdyk stopped moving away from Beterbiev because he knew Beterbiev wasn't gona stop. Also Gvozdyk was out boxing him in those middle rounds but Beterbiev was getting his body shots in, its easy to question/criticize why a fighter changes a strategy that seems to be working when its not you in there. I think the body work affected Gvozdyk's movement. He fought back head on because he had no choice. Beterbiev makes up for a speed disadvantage with tenacity and strategy. Beterbiev is no Smith...

If Canelo gets through Kovalev, I think he can take Beterbiev. Beterbiev is good but I think he left a lot of openings Canelo could have capitalized on.
In terms of beterbiev and Bivol. I say beterbiev would win. Honestly, I think it's funny that everyone was saying Kovalev was the weakest when the rest of LHW champs are no where close to elite level. Sure Kovalev is declining but he's proven himself more than any other active LHW.

Seems like Beterbievs skills are underated on here ?
I see Beterbiev having a very educated jab , very good timing and good all around skills ( as his amateur career proves ).
Only person I see beating him is Father time. The guys a beast.
I knew why he compared the two but that was irrelevant because Beterbiev didn't wait for openings or for Gvozdyk to stand still. Beterbiev went right after him working the body and then going for the head. Gvozdyk didn't just go in wide open like a fool he got worked up. Beterbiev is good at adapting to each opponent accordingly.

Bivol is too small, I think he will crumble under Beterbievs power specifically inside. That ref didn't allow Beterbiev to really fight on the inside & he still managed to get in on Gvozdyk.
I think he slowed Gvozdyk down with the body attack and towards the end beat Gvozdyk on the inside and from distance. And that is the sign of a good fighter knowing your strengths and combining them with a good fight plan. I can't forget the confused look on Bivol in the Chilemba fight, he was clearly thinking on what to do. Beterbiev won't give him time to think.
I'm telling you man Bivol is getting better and better every fight he learning as he goes I dont see those mistakes happening again but like I said Beterbiev def has a chance his power and strength easily top 10 one of the strongest in 175 history.
u said he would KO bivol faster than Gvosdyk. that's a comparison of the 2.
Gvozdyk pretty much came to Beterbiev the first 6 rounds. opened up every round. you know that right?

He does land nice shots when he isnt overly excited but his movement and footwork very sloppy his jab to set up his combos from distance also look weak. Great inside fighter but not world class on the outside.

Im saying Beterbiev vs Bivol not Bivol vs Gvozdyk but...Gvozdyk would beat Bivol too.

Call me crazy but I think Bivol will win 175 crown over Beterbiev. | BoxingScene Community
