4yrs ago these were the 2 euro terrors everyone was afraid of now both guys look like the weakest champs in their division. Its crazy how things change in a few short years.
(Btw I'm not hater fan of both it's just crazy how they gotten vulnerable in 4yrs).

Because 4 years at fighting how many times a year WEARS YOU DOWN. I just hope they both put money away because their laters years might be grim health wise.
GGG was just never very good. A good fighter for sure, but never something special.
That's why Loma can keep winning against the best available competition...because hes a great fighter and does not benefit from weight draining or anything like that...hes just good. Period
Giving fighters a title such as good, very good, great, elite, ATG is all subjective and so open to bias.
GGG was good enough to beat a prime time Canelo away from home in Canelo's little den.. and he still schooled him.
I consider Canelo very good by the way and an elite business man.
I always say..imagine in fighters like GGG, Carl Froch, Kovalev, etc.. were Americans or Mexicans, they would be Gods.
Lol what a pathetic troll of a post.
Instead of praising both for fighting well into their late 30s and entertaining us, you go in with a ridiculously bias angle.
Neither of them have got vulnerable you fool, they have got older and and the longer you stay in the game the more young challengers come through.
Kovalev did well in beating Ward and GGG did well in beating Canelo. Were they going to KO them? Well history shows that the highest level match ups normally end in points decisions and of course being the Home fighters they always knew surviving to the bell would afford them a home robbery.
4 years in your 30’s in any contact sport can change you. Bernard Hopkins was an outlier. GGG is 37 and Kov 36 so 4 years ago at 32 and 33 yeah they were finishing their prime
I dont think its age. I used to think it was altitude, but now I dont even know about that. What I noticed going back and rewatching fights is that every fight with Abel, GGG got bigger. He kept getting more and more muscular. At the beginning it made him more powerful, and his speed was still good. But as it kept going, he got slower.
I think hes just too muscular. Same sort of happened to Loma. From 126 to 130, he got more muscular and more powerful, but just as fast. Peak Loma. From 130 to 135, he got even more muscular, and unlike GGG more powerful still, but at the cost of speed.
When GGG punches now it looks like there are weights on his shoulders or biceps slowing the punch down. Not only is the speed less, but when his opponent moves their head, he cant adjust the trajectory of the punch midflight as well. It's like the punches are less agile to move to the target because he's carrying too much muscle and it makes him too stiff.
GGG's first fight on HBO he was 168 pounds fight night with clothes on, probably 165 in the ring. Now he looks closer to 175 in the ring. That alone will slow you down. I think GGG should cut out of the weights, forget about power and strength, and do everything possible to get not just his speed, but his AGILITY back.
Is age a factor? Of course but a few pounds can make a big difference too. Kovalev came in lighter for the Alvarez rematch and it made a big difference especially to his STAMINA. Too much muscle drains your stamina quickly.

They old fogey's. Remember when Rigondeaux was god? Not long ago Spence was the destroyer of worlds. And Broner FOTD.
Spence is still going strong. GGG is getting gifts and getting booed while Spence is cleaning out his division. Kovalev, pfft. I don't even need to talk about that

(Btw I'm not hater fan of both it's just crazy how they gotten vulnerable in 4yrs).They are both at that age were most boxers go down hill faster. That's why Ward retired. Right about age 33 to 34 even boxers that train hard and take care of themselves usually go down hill just from age and were and tear. GGG lasted longer than Kovalev and he may just have had an off night but Kovalev is not as dedicated a boxer as GGG. Canelo will be done in a few years and Ward and Bradley would probably be way past it if they were as old as GGG.
Kovalev has proven to be a more resilient fighter. He has lost and come back to win titles and in one case easily beat a fighter who ko'd him. Kov did a better job vs Ward in the first fight and he was robbed by the judges, he even cleanly knocked down Ward. GGG cannot say the same thing regarding the 1st Canelo fight, he never even hurt Canelo in the 1st fight (or 2nd). His biggest argument that he won the 1st fight was that he out jabbed Canelo even though Canelo landed more power shots.
I respect Kov as a fighter more than GGG and I think he has had a better career too. His resume is miles above GGG's. Kov has had a 2nd act to his career GGG has not and will not have a second career rejuvenation like many great fighters have done after losing. The title GGG received tonight was undeserving and everyone knows it.
werent really boogey men... was just preying on weaker opponents.. ggg never had any top level opponent until canelo and we all saw what happen there. kov never had a legit opponent until ward. same thing happen there. no hate here just speaking the truth.
