Somebody explain this algorithm to me. I understand with Munguia because at LEAST he's undefeated even though he's garbage but with that in mind how is Lara #2? Having one of them up there should make a good case to invalidate the other from being so high up.
Munguia:
-Hyped
-Undefeated
-Young
Lara
-Ghosted by Everybody
-Has losses like the rest of the champs.
-Old man.
The only similarity I see is that they both knocked out cans in their last fights. Does Boxrec still have any credibility?
It's irrelevant really - even boxrec people will tell You it's not perfect. Big factor was Ali beating Cotto(Injured, old Cotto) - and then Munguia taking those numbers in that lineage, plus beating Liam Smith who had decent "numbers".
Munguia is not top 5 realistically, very protected fighter - there are contenders with better resume and I don't think He belongs in top 5 on merit.
His title reign is a joke.
The reason for this is because the ratings are based on stregnth of opponents & margin of victory/loss collectively over their careers & previous opponents keep improving the resumes of their opponents the more they win. That all being said Mungai sucks, hes complete garbage, the only logic I can see in his ranking is that he beat the same guy that won the jmw title vs Cotto. So it's possible that hes benefitting from Cottos resume still, just as Laras still benefitting from every good fighter he faced accomplishments after they fought. The fact that Lara has a split decision loss to the #1 boxrec fighter greatly increases his points total.(Even though I think Lara got beaten soundly,I think the split decision has been good to him)
Yea the claim that's how it works but i suspect that their some manipulation in it internally. I'm curious bout the actual coding.
