Porter. Maidana had his moments but Porter is more consistent and overall better. Maidana had some embarrassing losses. Porter never has.
to be fair with chino, he had only one embarrassing loss, vs alexander. he looked like **** that night, was sick or something. kotelnik was a close fight that went to the local guy. he recovered from that left to the body by khan in the first round and almost stopped him. and his two losses to floyd were really good efforts, especially the first one.
Maidana is what people thought Porter was...a B level slugger. One thing with Maidana is he's a legit puncher, that's one thing he has over Porter. Everything else though, Porter is just a level above, from skills, to durability, to IQ, athleticism, speed etc.
Look at their resumes, Porter is just a level above. Nothing against Chino, he was great to watch
Maidana sits down on his shots and is a much better instinctual killer with his punch selection. Porter would create a lot of problems because of his brawling style. Porter also is physically bigger imo with much better stamina and pressure. In other words Maidana will take rounds off and will gas. He also is a little small for welterweight but maybe the same could be said for Porter.
I like Maidana much better as a fighter but I'd have to say Porter takes the UD or finishes what Ortiz couldn't do with a TKO
I think Porter is much better than Maidana has ever been. He's also bigger, faster and yes, stronger. Maidana is a bit overrated, but he was pretty good and had some nice occasional tricks up his sleeve.
IMO Porter is better fighter, but it would be a tough one.
Maidana from Mayweather fights was a monster. Maidana from 140 fights was not such a monster, so it depends what version of Maidana would be there.
Porter would give Floyd the toughest fight among the current welters despite not being the best fighter among them
Well said and I totally agree with you
He’d give a lot of guys many fits without doubt
He’s a handful if not more lol
Maidana is unorthodox too but in his offense
His unusual vertical angles troubled Floyd
The Argentine overhand, the rising left hook, etc
Imo , nothing compared to Porter
There’s no blueprint to Porter
It’s whatever he feels like
I was very surprised that there were no head butts last night
I think it’s harder to try to figure out Porter than Maidana and by no means is that a knock to Maidana
Also , a little off track , but the angles you speak of Maidana could not do it in the rematch
Imo , Porter forces those awkward moments on you
Two different minded aggressive fighters
For Maidana there is an orthodox style
Yes he can be relentless and I give him the power
But Porter is just fughin weird to figure out , he kind of bull rushes you
Very hard to predict and very very tiring for his opponent to gather his thoughts and adjust
I think Porter would win a fight with Maidana unless the Argentinian catches him and it’s gotta be picture perfect
I give a slight edge to Porter for being more consistent. He only has 3 losses and put up a good fight in those losses. The three guys who beat him would probably have also defeated Maidana while I doubt Porter would ever lose to Khan or Alexander.
I think Maidana was better he cut off the ring more effectively later on in his career.
With Porter if you employ a Brook strategy he is easy, otherwise its a tough night .
Maidana had that pop though so I will say he was the tougher fighter if he hit you with the right shot it was all over. Few had an easy night with him, even Floyd I would say had a tough night with him.
Porter has never fought anyone on Floyd's level. Though, I will agree I think Maidana gets destroyed by Spence and Porter arguably drew with Spence last night. I know Maidana was weak to the body and those body shots Porter absorbed were hellacious. As a whole though I think Maidana was the better more accurate fighter. Porter has a lowish accuracy and his punch technique, due to his style is weak and as a result his punches have no mustard on them.
