Kenny Porter and Derrick James Come to Near Blows!

Im not sure either(Kenny top coach) all he has worked with is his son in the pro ranks I believe. That being said he still MIGHT be the best coach in the world for Shawn. IDK he looks pretty young so maybe we will see him working with other fighters when Shawn is done. That in my opinion would show us more about how good he is overall as a coach. Got GGG by competitive but clear dec(8-4, 9-3) this week, who ya got? Pretty randomly the only other corner I ever seen him work was Lenroy Thomas’ against Dave Allen on the Brook-Spence undercard. I think GGG stops him, Derevyanchenko is a solid fighter, but he’s not the most elusive, I don’t think he has the strength or skill to keep GGG off so I think GGG walks him down and stops him mid to late rounds.

It’s wishful thinking really, I can’t see him ever leaving his dad either tbh, he’s been extensively disciplined by Kenny so I doubt he’d ever consider leaving him. Yea there are improvements to be made, but it might be a bit late though to change much. Also I really cant see him leaving his dad they seem to have a very special bond. Another coach might be able to teach him things his dad has not, but he might not be able to get as much out of him either. IDK but your idea is food for thought. Lol that’d be a suitable nickname cause he’s a very hard nights work for anyone. Footwork is definitely underrated, I was probably a little guilty of underrating him myself tbh, as I thought Spence would be able to outbox him pretty comfortably. I’d love to see if a top coach would be able to refine Porter. My only criticism of his style is he isn’t anywhere near efficient enough. Yea it was a very good fight. Also think it was prob Porters best performance(although he is never an easy out). He stuck to his gameplan for whole fight, staying outside of Spence reach until he was ready for his little kamikaze attacks. It should be starting to be clear to ANYONE that there is more skill to his ugly style then most by far give him credit for. His footwork on inside is VERY underrated imo, and so is his ring IQ. That along with his physical strength and strong chin will make him a pain in the azz for anyone @ 47. Matter a fact he should change his nickname from SHOWTIME to Shawn "Pain in the Azz" Porter. It seems at least 12 months off which is worrying. I had it 115-112 to Spence, had it level after 10 and then Spence swung it in his favour convincingly winning the last two rounds along with the KD. No I don't see it happening in time for it not to be a bit tainted imo. Spence is getting tight at 47 and will not be making that weight for long, and a fight at 54 will be a disadvantage to Crawford(as it would be for Spence if he is weight drained). Now that we have this 3 league system this very well might be the "lost generation" as far as ever seeing some fights that would decide who is the best at certain weights and PFP best. Kenny does treat Shawn like Shawn is perpetually 16 years old. Its been a thing as long as I can remember. Shawn talking for himself more lately, but Kenny does do a lot of the talking still it seems to me. Same thing with Danny & Angel. These 9th place trophies kids grew up with got mfers all shy & letting their daddy speak for them & sh^t or some such bs idk. Agree about the 9th place trophies part. Kenny does talk a lot, but Shawn don't seem to mind. I think this is one of the better father-son partnerships. Kenny had a great game plan for Shawn and seems to get the best out of him. Also the little pre fight ritual in every fight(heads together) makes me think Shawn and Kenny have a strong bond and Shawn might not be same without him in corner.

Crawford vs Spence is the best fight that can be made in boxing. It’s potentially SRL-Hearns of this generation, I’ll be gutted if it doesn’t happen. Doesn’t seem likely anytime soon though tbh. Try and rip to the body on inside when he can. I really hope we get Spence v Crawford before its too late because im not sure how long Spence can make this weight. Definitely beginning to lean on Spence by ko late Porter will have some success early on but I’m pretty sure Spence will adapt I figure the body attack will be brutal and Porter will have to give in The size difference won’t help Porter to smother Errol Thinking it will be tee off time around the 5th or 6th round

Exactly how I see it, Spence by a clear UD but could see the late stoppage depending on how dominant Spence can be in dictating the action. Can’t recall seeing Porter take a good body shot either tbh. He’s a tough kid though, a stoppage win would be very impressive IMO. His buddy Barry Hunter too...when he was coaching Lamont Peterson, he'd treat him like a kid. Then, I forgot who the opponent was, but Peterson was getting handled. He goes back to his corner, and Hunter SMACKED him...not like a "wake-up" slap? It was the kind of slap where you're putting someone in their place :lol1:! Funny thing was, the camera caught Broner seated at ringside, shaking his head at the slap :lol1:! I understand, they have that father-son thing going on, but you're smacking a man in front of 10,000 people...Well Peterson was homeless eating from trashcans and came from nothing, Hunter is like his actual father. I remember Angel doing the same thing to Danny during the Matthysse fight lol.
