-sold out in his hometown
-headlined several shows on showtime(a premiere boxing network)
-provided main support a ppv that did over 2 million buys
-is making per fight, in the ballpark, the same as the #1 p4p guy in the sport
- is a world champ(yes im aware his resume isnt great and there are too many belts and being a "champ" is watered down today)
how many guys in the sport can tick off even one of those boxes at 24?
what were bud and spence doing at 24? were they making davis money? were they selling out? were they headlining showtime and hbo cards? loma was still fighting kids in headgear.....
stop hating on the guy...hes ahead in the business aspect of the game...ahead of alot of guys....but i get it...business doesnt matter if its a black guy or guy you dont like or a guy with the pbc
but if golovkin is ducking ward to wait another year and half to fight canelo "cause duh its smart business" its ok.....some of you are so deluded and twisted with hate its sickening......
hes 24 and has a ton of time to build a real resume....yall celebrated a guy that took his first meaningful fight at age 34 lol
lol....if a 26 year old tank wants to fight loma...you guys will all cry that davis waited for loma to get old....its exactly what would happen....it would run rampant online "Tank waited for him to get old blah blah"...yet tank would be the same age most guys actually start stepping up their level of comp
do you know that tank is actually scared to death of loma? or could it be his handlers dont wanna put him in there with him at this point? scared to death?!?!?! lol....
It would be very tough to be Tanks manager. He is one of the stupider fighters out having to deal with that has to be annoying, but still... the fact he won’t even say his name shows you.
Too many fighters end up broke so I am ok with a fighter making money. What disappoints me is that while he may make more money with Floyd I am not sure if he will cement a meaningful legacy with Floyd. The kid is talented and he could be facing tougher opposition. If Floyds plan is to keep him fresh while Loma ages and grinds to unify and then Tank jumps in for the straps in one shot that would be genius. It would also mitigate the risk. We will see.
when teofimo and devin haney say they want loma what do boxing fans like you say? probably the same stuff "do something to earn it...they haven't proven anything"No, I want Loma (and any other top boxer) to fight the best challengers. That's how the sport retains any sense of credibility. That's my only agenda.
tank is still a pupIf belts are meaningless, then he and his promoter can publicly vacate the WBA belt and let other dogs fight for it. He's welcome to vie for supremacy once he's ready to step up mentally.
Good post, again.
I don't remember your new username. What was your original one? This username looks like someone doubling on abtfkntime!:lol1:
Anyway, you said you didn't know about Davis' amateur fights. I know all about it and really don't care about any of that. This is the pros.
A few more facts here for you about Davis:
He spars regularly one of the biggest and best southpaws in the world in Spence (been like that for a few years now). He works with Floyd on defense.
Spence and him are good friends. And, if you are a Davis hater (not talking about you), you wouldn't like Spence's story about Davis. He likes to spar bigger guys. Davis has a rock solid chin as well.
Loma's struggle with Pedraza had to do with the southpaw stance. He really doesn't like it. I've seen that in some Loma fights. Every time Pedraza turned southpaw, he was owning Loma. Loma looked confused and out of sorts. Davis is a bigger southpaw and better than Pedraza ten times.
Yeah I'm just trolling abouttime...original was Boxing1013.
Amateur success just seems to me to be a great indicator of future success in the pros...just meaning that most great pros were great ams...but not all ams become great pros.
I never watched Loma-Pedrazza, but I did have Linares-Loma and Campbell-Loma close for most of the fight...will be following Davis's career going forward...he is a good talent.
Age is irrelevant. He's a belt holder FFS; his promoter pimps this fact, and I think Ellerbe claims he's the best in the division. So why shouldn't we expect Tank to take on the stiffest challenges??
I just don't understand boxing fans like you.
when teofimo and devin haney say they want loma what do boxing fans like you say? probably the same stuff "do something to earn it...they haven't proven anything"
yet you guys say the same stuff about tank and want him to fight a seasoned p4p guy like loma.....its strictly agenda driven
age is relevant...its totally relevant...and ive admitted many times that holding a belt doesn't mean much today...they are watered down
loma was able to get a title shot in his 2nd pro fight when he had proven 0 at the pro level....holding belts doesn't mean much...anyone can get one if they have the connections and money backing them....its a nice thing to add to their resume "hey im a world champ" but its cheap
tank is still a pup
some of you guys don't understand age and what it means...and u think you can make all things equal "oh she should fight loma no doubt"....loma was fighting kids with headgear when he was 24
what p4p greats was loma fighting when he was 24?!?!?
stop saying age doesn't matter...it totally does!!!
most guys at age 24 aren't taking on the #1 or #2 p4p fighter in the sport....
tank will fight loma...when hes ready...you cant fault a 24 year old for not wanting to face a 32 year old top ranked p4p guy right away....Age is irrelevant. He's a belt holder FFS; his promoter pimps this fact, and I think Ellerbe claims he's the best in the division. So why shouldn't we expect Tank to take on the stiffest challenges??

Tank hasn't done any remarkable thing just yet. Talent of course he does have. Nowadays the "0" is protected too much. I remember a quote "if you haven't loss, you haven't fought nobody" or something like that. In a way it is true. Floyd never fought the #1 at any weight. At 130 Casamayor was the King and they never met. WW Paul Williams and Margarito, he fought baldomir. 154 Lara was right there and he was avoided. Just to mention a few. Tank can fight lomachenko, he won't do it, he will fight an over the hill Gamboa.
i know he hasn't done anything remarkable...try reading the thread...my point is he has plenty of time and prob 87 percent of the guys in the last 30 years haven't done anything remarkable by age 24....which is my point
tank will fight loma...when hes ready...you cant fault a 24 year old for not wanting to face a 32 year old top ranked p4p guy right away....we cant make tank magically 30 years old...or even 26 right now....
people want to forget ages when its convenient...like they wanted canelo to be a ***** so they said "he needs to fight golovkin now"...theyre doing the same with tank.....we cant magically make guys the same age and at the same point in their careers
take a look at some of the threads when teofimo was calling out loma....there are a bunch of them....as soon as he did it the loma fanboys screamed "what has he done..who has he beat...he hasn't earned it".....
but when it comes to tank, yall are saying he hasn't done sheet...yet you want him to fight loma right now...lol....I love the constant contradictions the pbc/Floyd/haymon haters use...
lol@hating on Floyd...what else is new...its no surprise you don't like tank and are bashing him
lol@p will and margarita...Floyd just beat the brakes off the guy what whooped margarita....and p will would have been easy work for Floyd...and I was a big pwill fan...but Floyd would have figured him out...he had 0 defense and just trained to stand and throw tons of punches....Floyd would have eaten him up once he figured p will up....
yeah he fought baldomir..for a belt...and once he did he fought the guy that used to have it that everyone wanted to see him fight in zab....
yall still got them margarito "boogeyman" stories huh? lol.......dude cotto beat him the eff up and he was beating margarito up the first time he just messed up...if cotto could put a whooping on that boy Floyd would have too
and bob arum actually confirmed that Floyd agreed to fight margarito while he was with TR....but he wanted future guarantees against cotto and hatton and bob balked over something like 8 million extra in future guarantees....and that's when Floyd bought himself out.....arum admitted this and was ok about it...cause he thought Floyd would still use TR as a banner to promote his fights the way Floyd did with golden boy....once Floyd started using golden boy instead bob flipped his lid and started the nonsense you perpetuate...
yous a dummy
few and far between...I said that...sure you can come with an example or two....but its far from the normTank hasn't done any remarkable thing just yet. Talent of course he does have. Nowadays the "0" is protected too much. I remember a quote "if you haven't loss, you haven't fought nobody" or something like that. In a way it is true. Floyd never fought the #1 at any weight. hes 24 and has a ton of time to build a real resume....yall celebrated a guy that took his first meaningful fight at age 34 lolSee Sal Sanchez age 22.
"Neither Crawford nor Golovkin began their careers with anything like the opportunities Tank has had as a protege of the biggest name in the sport and both had to leave failing promoters before their careers could finally take off (Bud left TKO in 2011 at about 24 years old, Golovkin left Universum at 28) precisely because they weren't getting the fights their talents deserved."
this right here..i love it......."circumstances"....we should hold tank to a different standard because we feel tank has had the easy life!!! tanks been coddled and groomed!!!! because i hate floyd and al haymon!!!!
Ill excuse the other guys because they had different circumstances and turned pro at different ages!!!!! but i want to hold tank accountable to all others standards of greatness also!!!
lets pretend all things are even for once recognize that not all fighters started at the same age and circumstances...
is tank not doing well for himself? does tank not have time to build a good resume? how many guys had good resumes at age 24?
Haters will hate. I'm not a fan but I can't hate him. He is being build well. Tbh I don't even know why people hate him that much. He isnt a loud mouth ret@rd like Broner. He is pretty respectful. F#ck it, I'm a fan now lol
thanks for being real and realistic in regards to tank...its refreshing....you wont see that alot around here
just a bunch of insecure ninnies that hate anyone associated with floyd and haymon
Man, that stung... being told I'm an intellectual inferior by a dude who's stock in trade is the kind of logical fallacy I thought was clever when I was about 12 and who still believes this ish is about 'goodies' and 'baddies'. Dude, you're an absolutely prime example of the Dunning-Kruger effect in action.:lol1:
I've not been trying to debate your point, man. I'm trying to tell you it ain't necessary to sleight other fighters to get your point across - in fact it lessens the value of any point you have to make and cheapens debate, but then I think that's maybe what you're looking for.
If I was seeking to address your point I'd say that Tank's doing pretty well for his age, but the comparisons you're making are in no way like for like. Golovkin turned pro at the age Tank is now, Spence turned pro at just shy of 23 years old. Neither Crawford nor Golovkin began their careers with anything like the opportunities Tank has had as a protege of the biggest name in the sport and both had to leave failing promoters before their careers could finally take off (Bud left TKO in 2011 at about 24 years old, Golovkin left Universum at 28) precisely because they weren't getting the fights their talents deserved.
So the question then is why are you making false comparisons to bolster your point? And whilst I'm not one of the dudes who's been going in on Tank - although his recent opposition really has been below his level - you ain't really in a position to be telling folk not to go critcising dudes, since, well... you do that ish all day long.
Besides - what actually is your point? Are you claiming that Tank's resume shouldn't be open to question or criticism? That people shouldn't express anything other than positive opinions about him?
zzzzzzzzzz
annnndddddd crawford....and because this isnt about loyalties or anything like that...what about spence? WTF was spence doing at 24?!??!!?
these guys cant accept this....they are holding tank to a different standard because hes black and hes with al haymon/floyd....it couldnt be any more clear their agenda.....it sticks out and its pathetic and sad for these so called "boxing fans"....
this is what they sound like
"dear tank,
please deliver a HOF resume by age 24...we know no one has ever done that but please do it...if you dont i wont like you...oh wait you havent...i dont like you...oh you make good money? oh you have great exposure and have accomplished things most guys couldnt dream of at age 24? well guess what i dont like those things and i dont care who likes them because I dont like them and i hate you tank i hate you"!!!

when making a point sometimes you have to use other fighters as a point of reference...its just how it works....people make comparisons...im sorry you dont like it....you just need to vent and let out whatever anger it is you need to...so go ahead....people use other athletes as a point of reference all of the time when arguing/debating others all of the time
have a conversation about who the greatest qb is of all time? someone says tom brady? guess what? others are going to talk about some of the things that peyton manning or montana did or didnt do....thats how it works....your lack of understanding of this shows a serious lack of ability to reason

And Crawford???
I think Tank is on the right path if he stays in shape between fight. The guy as talent and is a devastating puncher. Im not a fan but I always been saying that he has a chance vs Loma.

if tank davis waits 10 more years to take his first meaningful fight can he still be great?!!!
just saying...GOLOVKIN
And Crawford???
