The man takes some absolute pathetic fights like Chris Norrad and washed up Samuel Peter...but but he also takes challenges when others would not. He fought Kubrat Pulev in Bulgaria when no one wanted to fight him there, he fought Joseph Parker and just came up short and now he is fighting Povetkin for his first fight at matchroom. Other boxers would take a gimme fight in this instance, Hughie doesn't.
He may be awful to watch. An absolute bore in the ring, makes you want to scratch your eyes out and jump off a building. But Hughie has balls alright.
Give him props, Hughie 'shades of Audley' Fury. Hope he loses tho so we won't see him again...lol
He doesn't deserve credit, nor does the Team surrounding him.
This is the same Hughie Fury that was scheduled to fight in New Zealand, went completely off the radar without telling anyone, didn't even go to the airport to get there, cried his way last minute into having the fight rescheduled in his back yard - then proceeded to put on one of the worst performances in title history.
He is everything that is wrong with boxing.
I have a feeling that Hughie vs Povetkin might be a surprisingly good fight. I once considered re-scoring Hughie vs Parker again (Had Hughie winning watching it live) but the thought of watching it again makes me think I'd rather just bang my head off the wall for 36 minutes instead.
I'll give him credit, he really put his balls on the table with this one.
Hughie vs. Povetkin is the first of his fights I'm actually excited to watch.
