Max Schmeling not in the HoF ? ROFL what ? He knocked out a PRIME Joe Lewis when everyone thought he was shot... That alone makes him HoF worthy.
Beating a prime Joe Lewis in a boxing match is not very impressive, now beating a prime Joe Louis is something to brag about lol. Just kidding with ya.
I thought he was in?
I like your quote about respecting all fighters, if I live to be a thousand I will never understand that whole Ward v Kov, Canelo v GGG, Wilder v AJ BS. Their is something I respect about ALL world class fighters. The only hate I have is for PED cheats and im not overly fond of broke fat heavys, because if you cant do your runs and situps before you make any money its only gonna get worse once you do.
Hamed is in. He shouldn’t be though.
These are the hall of famers who have no business IMO
Riddick Bowe
Ray Mancini
Bobby Chacon
Barry McGuigan
Naseem Hamed
Ingemar Johansson
Pipino Cuevas
Carlos Palamino
Vitali Klitschko
Julian Jackson
Buddy McGirt
Donald Curry
Arturo Gatti
Rocky Graziano
Daniel Zaragoza
Max Schmeling
Georges Carpentier
Tony DeMarco
Jack Sharkey
Winky Wright
Randolph Turpin
Not saying they are bad. Some had awesome primes, a great win or two, big characters etc; but there should be a standard and a cut off. These guys aren’t “great”.

I agree with some of your list but quite a few on that list belong in, I wont go name by name, but it shows how subjective it is. I think Naz was borderline, but he belongs in for me. He had a long reign, beat quite a few good to solid fighters, won every belt at featherweight. His problem in his era was, that you went from c and b level fighters to Barrera, Morales Marquez....massive jump, there were no Frampton's, Santa Cruz, or that level of fighters.. which Hamed would have Ko'd.
He peaked early and didn't fulfill his potential, but he was #1 for 5 years and p4p for much of that...what pushes him over the top for me is the fact that he is one of the best punchers in boxing history, he had several FOTY candidates, and lastly this being the most important point point, he single handedly put the lower weights on the map like they hadn't been before. He opened them up to the casual fanbase and changed the game financially for the fighters at the time and ever since.
I know some of you want it to be just about accomplishments, but I think you're missing the essence of it. Hamed made a significant mark on the sport, he belongs...no question
Another who shouldn't be in is Barry McGuigan.
How dare you question my fellow Irishmen!!No I agree he was not HOF, but no worse then Mancini or Gatti imo. If the wops can get in so can a paddy lol.
Our mission is to honor and preserve boxing's rich heritage, chronicle the achievements of those who excelled and provide an educational experience for our many visitors.
Hate to say it, but it is a simple vote. Period. Some voters may have criteria they use, but it is not universal. Kinda of like judging a bout. Gatti and Mancini, due to their charisma, represented what was beloved about the sport. I think they are justly in the HOF. They are two fighters who would be discussed when talking about the history of boxing. Julian Jackson is rightfully in. When you talk about potentially the hardest puncher p4p ever, throw in he's a 2-division titlist with a win over the highly respected Terry Norris, he deserves a spot. There are many who are 'good' enough to be in, but with only 3 or 5 allowed in per year, it is too easy to be left behind if you do not make it on the first ballot. Benn, Eubank for example.
The achievements of those who excelled...the key word is excelled...going by " charisma " or "attitude" ect makes getting in meaningless.
how is stacking up accomplishments and assigning them value not an opinion? this is not a quantitative study! it is inherently subjective! X amount of fights, x amount of wins, etc, these are not standards and i assure you that you'll find it if you look in canastota!
what matters is who you beat, when, how, and what impact did it have. the thing is called the hall of fame FFS! and if you go there you'll find people totally willing to discuss gatti's enshrinement and how he's different from the other "greater" fighters. and also why he was more exciting!
i'm sorry, but if you think james kirkland's career is on the same level as gatti's for his impact on the fanbase and his endearing style you missed the bus, bro! you just flat out don't get it, and that's fine.
Calm down I was comparing Kirkland to Gatti in terms of exciting fights not meaningful fights or wins but I will compare Corrales though. If you can put Gatti, Corrales should be in it too, so should fighters like Margarito, Hatton, jermain Taylor, and many many more. Its not reserved for elite fighters anymore. And if you can't tell the difference from Gatti to someone like James Tony then I don't know what to tell you.
There are no set qualifications for the IBHOF
Yea but thats not a qualification for Gatti to be there or else Corrales should be there as well.

Yea well thats an opinion and thats the point, it should be based on accomplishments not opinions. I like watching Gatti but equally Corrales , Kirkland, Margarito, Pavlik ect

They should probably separate "great fights" from "great fighters".
You can have one or two great fight(s) but that doesn't make you a great fighter
i don't want to disrespect chico corrales, but they would go in for very different reasons. arturo is arguably the most exciting fighter of all time. historians all put him in the conversation. he was the perfect storm of vulnerability, skill, and power. that is why we watch the sport, ultimately, to be entertained. gatti connected with the writers more and they voted him in. you use your heart, too, you know. that's the end of it, you'll never get a computer voting people into the hall of fame, and gatti connected with the writers.

The Gatti is only because he was a fan favorite and early death he still fun to watch thoe,
Macini is only because he pretty much had one of the most important fights in the sports history for the wrong reason of course.
And yes Hamed has been in for a while now.
