Is Pacquiao the last ATG fighter we''ll see?
There's very little sign that any of today's boxers have what it takes to make that ATG list. Corruption, too much focus on money, everyone's protecting their 0's by fighting tomato cans... as well as boxing's general decline.
The fact that Manny's corpse was able to beat one of this gen's best offerings highlights the lack of quality around today.
Which is why Manny won't leave the game without passing the torch to the worthy one. That unstoppable itch---the calling to continue fighting until the torch is passed is both a curse and a blessing of the boxing gods.
And so the search for the worthy one continues ..
I really doubt that the man who beats Pac will be nearly as popular as Pac .
Like Holmes beating Ali. It did little for his mass appeal.
You gotta have some charisma or people magnetism to draw a great following.
And that can't be explained really.
I have high hopes for Lomachenko.
The problem with boxing now is, we don't have olympic heroes anymore.
Remember the '84 and '88 summer games produced a lot of buzz for boxing.
Then you have all these champions now who don't want to face each other .
There are so many excuses.
Then again, in the 80's there were really just Don King and Bob Arum running the show.
And there were some big regional promoters like Aileen Keaton, Don Chargin, Dino Duva and some .
The great thing now is boxing in England is so huge.
But, UFC is taking a lot of fight sports fans out of boxing . The kids today just don't have much interest in boxing. They are more into UFC. I see this with my nephews .

Nope. Boxing survived the retirement of ATGs like Robinson, Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Tyson, etc. we still have Loma, and plenty of talented fighters from 126-175 who can aspire to greatness. Or at least carry the torch and put on entertaining fights.
Tyson not an atg
Manny isn’t just a special fighter, he’s a special person. People like that don’t just show up every day. His replacement may not come for a while, but boxing will certainly survive. He isn’t even the sport’s greatest ever star. Someone else will capture the popular imagination soon enough.
Oh yeah, boxing will die when Pacquiao retires. In fact I can't imagine what boxing was like before the Pacquiao.
Boxing was just 2 people punching each other in the face before he came along.
The Pacquiao came along and taught us the art of boxing.
Long live the Pacquiao.
Filipino Boxing would die without Manny. Right now he is the only elite boxer in the Philippines. Most of them are not even pound for pound boxers. That's why after Donaire and Nietes. No Filipino boxers are in the top 20.
The sport is bigger than any one person. No matter how great they are. Boxing will always deal with the elements everyone has mentioned but what makes boxing special is that it’s something that’s in us all. We all can relate to it. It taps into the animalistic and carnal aspects of any living being. And seeing two men or women try to take each other’s head off will always appeal to us.
Yes...
Boxing survived the passing of Ali and other boxing greats...Retirement of pac will be just like closing only one chapter of a continuing saga...
Ahh I see there is a reason you don’t do comedy are you implying Pac is the last legend 🤔
I’m implying that anyone still using the term Pac,tard, or Flo.mo for that matter, is not looking particularly clever.
The talent will be there but I think the days of boxers becoming household names is over and you can thank PPV for that.
People who didn't follow boxing and only tuned in to watch HW fights still knew who Mayweather and Pacquio were. No one knows who the **** Thurman or Spence are. They don't. Anyone who says otherwise is either in denial or can't see past their own nose.
No, unfortunately Pac is not the end of all boxing. It existed before him and it will exist after him. However, the sport will miss him once he does decides to hang up the gloves for good.
The fight I would like to see Pac fight next before Errol Spence is Mikey Garcia. That should be a very fun and entertaining fight. If not Mikey Garcia, then Danny Garcia vs Pac man. That should suffice also.

We were spoiled by pac and floyd.
There is a thread on here chitting on Canelo's resume. Guy has the best resume in the world outside of Pac and hes only 28 in his prime and only adding to it. People are like oh but he has a bunch of close wins and so called robberies. Ok that happens when you fight everyone. Look at holyfield and Oscar, lost a lot of their big fights or had close fights or robberies. They are still highly regarded. Canelo will be highly regarded too.
People are expecting every fighter now to be a viable candidate for the top 10 p4p list now. Its not going to be like that all the time, it cant.
