Remember when legendary fighter Erik Morales tested positive for clenbuterol against Danny Garcia but the fight still went ahead, just a few years ago in Brooklyn, New York! That's right New York, where AJ faced Ruiz!
Is AJ right to hold the rematch with Ruiz in the UK, in case a similar thing happens where Ruiz fails a test but the fight is still allowed to go on in NYC, USA?
Moot point, not many boxers are going to risk losing a substantial payday over a late failed PED test. They already sparred enough people over the years who were on PEDs of some sort. The fight still went ahead in NYC despite the failed test!
Not a moot point at all. Lots of boxers turn it down when given a choice to fight someone who’s been taking PED’s.

Yes I remember. Not at all the same, since Garcia was given the choice to fight and took it.
The same choice Rivas should have been given.
Try again.
At least you admitted it but give yourself time and you'll improve. Practise makes perfect!
I would gladly admit my shortcomings but you know who I was talking about.
You should've been dropped off at the doorstep of a a fire station from day one. But here you are today mucking up the world with your foolishness.
Throughout the years there has been some awful posters on here but this is on another level.

Garcia, his opponent, was informed of the failed test and it was up to Danny to decide if he wanted to fight Morales anyway, not the other way around.
Epic fail of a thread.

Instead of us coming together as one (Boxing fans) and kick out this disease in our sport, we are doing tit for tat. This doesn’t help us or the sport, what is wrong is wrong, no need to try and deflect, whether it’s in unkraine, Germany, America, Mexico or the UK we need to be one and try and stay one in mocking this s hit out.
Fair point, it would be nice to eradicate PEDs completely but even with regular testing boxers can cycle on an off-season. Boxers can take a year or two hiatus from the sport, like for example Mayweather, Mosley, Vitali, Haye, Brook did. During this time away some boxers could use PEDs in their workouts and by the time they return to boxing they've made numerous performance-effecting physical improvements which will stay with them even after the PED is no longer detectable. So point being that even if there was never a positive sample ever found again and it seemed that drug testing, and the associated repercussions of being busted, had eradicated PED usage altogether, in reality people could still be using but just refined the art of tactically cycling so as to avoid detection completely.
so true. i remember the morales incident, maybe these other places??
texas?? i remember jcc jr testing shenanigans before the andy lee fight!
vegas? didnt they let floyd administer an illegal IV the night before the biggest fight of all time? i remember the head of the nsac forced to step down likely because everyone knew
mexico? home of clenbuterol
True.. even going back nearly 20 years when Roy Jones Jr fought Richard Hall. Both guys tested positive for steroids but the fight still went ahead!
Circumstances were different, Whyte and Rivas are opposing sides and they've never fought each other plus 2 separate testing agencies....
It was a rematch, and the first bout wasn't difficult for Danny. with GBP telling Swift, ''yo, Morales is having trouble making weight...he's taking this...compensations will be sorted out...nothing to worry about.''
Gotcha and Swift destroyed Morales for it.
Both Morales and Swift were GBP. It's a lot easier when its inhouse
I agree, my only point is at least Garcia and his team were notified and had the opportunity to decide whether to fight or scrap.

A mexican testing positive for clenbuterol automatically means it was due to tainted meat
El Terrible did nothing wrong. Nothing to see here, moving on.
