That was the fight where many people didn't think Hopkins had a chance since he just lost and was facing the guy who beat Taylor (same guy who beat Hopkins twice) twice, plus he was already 43 years old fighting a younger undefeated puncher. Not only did Hopkins win convincingly and in one sided fashion he gave one of his best performances to date
So why doesn't anyone question Hopkins? Has there been any kind of testing for that fight?
When are you guys gonna get over this?
Hopkins never tested positive.
Pacquiao never tested positive.
Marquez never tested positive.
Mayweather never tested positive.
In my opinion, that should be where it ends.
I agree 100%. These 4 are ATGs and first ballot HOFs.
Hopkins won that fight on high ring IQ and grit against a one-dimensional kid that had been steamrolling guys with his power. It's a story as old as time. Hopkins lateral movement kept Kelly from being able to plant his feet and land the big shot, and Hopkins would hit him with the 1-2 and then tie up or move out of range. All night long. Pavlik was frustrated and had no answer, and he had a trainer that didnt know **** and just told him to "double that jab."
It wasn't about age or athleticism. Bernard could probably fighting a similar fight today with the same outcome.

I agree with you 100% on this. People always think they have good information and that there were 'signs' all along. We can't live on these stupid borderline conspiracy theories. We can speculate sure, but we can't let speculations be facts that we shout out everywhere, just because that's what we believe.
If people believe in conspiracy theories, and that the above mentioned fighters paid there way to safe tastings. What about Canelo? He should have had the money to get away with it right?
Unfortunately whether people like it or not, innocent till proven guilty is the only way... it's mostly haters of specific fighters that make PED use accusations anyways.
had to do with hopkins style along with the fact that he didnt really look any different than when he fought say, jermaine taylor 3 years prior. that was a bad style matchup for pavlik
I think the main reason is because of the way Hopkins was beating his younger competition. I'm not saying we need to accuse Pacquiao, but Hopkins would disarm his opponents with simple, yet clever, techniques that didn't look impressive to the naked eye, but nullified his opponents extremely well.
Pacquiao still outfights his opponents with impressive speed, athleticism and punch output.
I could be wrong, but I believe that fight was at a catchweight of 165 pounds. Kelly Pavlik hadn't fought over 160 up to that point, nor should he have. Hopkins fought as high as 175. He was more acclimated to the higher weight which means several things. Pavlik would be sluggish and slow. He also had no chance of hurting Hopkins.
Bottom line, weight classes matter. It's not like the smaller weight classes where you can keep moving up until you reach the threshold of 147. 160-168 is the most devastating jump in boxing.
Bro 5 pounds bro? Bro go to cry cry land. 5 freaking pounds? Really? What has happened to boxing fans these days......complete baby sht. 5 pounds 🤣🤣🤣
There are few better examples of the dramatic difference strength training, attention to diet, and PEDs can make in the appearance and performance of a boxer than Marquez. Take a look at his physique before and during his bout with Mayweather--when he was famously filmed drinking his own urine during a 24/7 episode--and his physique before and during his final fight with Pacquiao. Night and Day.
all about the piss, bruh

Your damn right about that
Night and fughin day
I even considered drinking my own piss lol
Marquez drinks his own pee though...

Of course many people--myself included--believe it was very likely that Hopkins used PEDs. The reason fewer people presumably suspect Hopkins of doping than Pacquiao is that 1) he seemed to win fights on the basis of extraordinary skill rather than remarkable punch volume, power, speed, etc., 2) he only moved up two weight divisions in his career--and he was not the puncher
at 175 than he was at 160, and 3) he was not known to be associated with a strength and conditioning coach widely believed to dope his athletes, as Pacquiao was with Alex Ariza.
At that time, drug testing for boxing was simply the post-fight urine test; fail THAT and you or your doping advisor is an idiot.
BTW--as others have pointed out, Pavlic never should have taken that fight--not because of the catch-weight of 170 lbs--but because he was seriously ill with bronchitis, had not been able to train properly because of a staph infection to one of his hands that had been antibiotic-resistant, etc. Kelly never made excuses at the time, but has since discussed his problems in preparing for the Hopkins fight in some detail; check YouTube for interviews on his career.
I'm co-signing this 100%. Great post.
Thank you brother
And fugh Teddy
I always had much respect for him but as of recently , the respect is diminishing
99% of fighters are on PEDs.
Mosley never failed a test. Because the tests are worthless.
IDK why you guys fight over this all the time.
Well said
I too believe their all fughin juicing
Some got caught and some got away
But never surprised when it’s brought out to the public
First thing they offer you when you step into the gym
Yep. This shlt again. :-|
Hey, OK, you got me... Manny did not look like a Mustang last night, he was a Ferrari. My question is, what kind of gas was he using? #PacquiaoThurman— Teddy Atlas (@TeddyAtlasReal) July 21, 2019
For a guy who is supposed to be representing boxing , he’s a real dumb fugh
Wow , I fughinbelievable
Talk about dissing your own sport with no facts
I hope Beterbiev destroys Gvozdyk just for Teddy’s classless act

we know floyd cheated though. he took an unapproved IV 14 times the legal limit and he did it while usada was standing right there. they didnt even attempt to stop him. that should tell you who is running things. he had no justification for taking it besides "physical ailment" aka I have no reason but i'm going to put this vague thing down so they let me get away with it. then without any justification they gave him a tue 3 weeks after the fight for it still never knowing why he did it or even bothering to care why he did it. he was not drained from making weight. thats preposterous. 3 pounds? obviously there were rumors this happened in the past as well but this time they were right there and they did nothing but help him cover it up. dirty business. its akin to trump shooting someone on 5th avenue and the police writing the report that says "self defense, no charges"

Lance Armstrong was doping for like 10 years and never failed a single test.
The tests are meaningless. They pay people money that know how to beat them. That is like a full time job. Memo just got caught. Every top athlete has their Memo who is paid handsomely to make sure they never fail a test.

Because the ones questioning are black. It’s all about race man. How dare you ever question a black fighter but if it’s a Mexican or Asian it’s all good to accuse them of whatever you want. Don’t read too much into it. Same people questioning if VADA was used accept Floyd’s IV use and his tue given two weeks after the fact. Agendas bro
