Dope cheat, open-scoring, BS judges, ducking, WBC franchise champion, 155 canelo weight! He is suppose to be the face of boxing. Thank God this guy never crossed over to mainstream America!
Canelo is BAD for boxing!
The LDBC alts have been swirming the boards lately.
What makes him bad is he is a diva that calls all the shots when it comes to weigh gloves refs judges but that comes with being the cash cow no way around it and everyone would love to be in his position and would do the same damn thing so it is what it is can’t really hate or knock him for it
If he's being used as an excuse by fighters to fight meaningless fights, then he is indeed bad for the sport. Like Charlo fighting Adams or Golovkin fighting Rolls...
Charlo was not the best at 154 he wasn't even considered the highest ranked belt holder at 154. Politics and Haymon owning the WBC led to him getting a immediate title eliminator against a bum undeserving opponent who never should of had his ranking if not for corruption and to make things worse entered the ring with a leg injury before the fight. That's how Charlo got his number 1 ranking not by fighting the best of the best. You can't even acknowledge the corruption from the belt orgs that led to heiland getting a title eliminator but got the nerve to say top guys like Canelo or Floyd should fight who these corrupt belt orgs say to fight. In a short time canelo beat the lineal middleweight champ, then beat the universally number 1 ranked middleweight who was also p4p ranked and the boogyman in boxing then beat the universally number 2 ranked Middleweight in the world. One guy is fighting the best of the best while ignoring corrupt belt orgs and the other guy is fighting who wbc says is the best but we all know those opponents are a joke.
Yes you can't have it both ways and say by WBC rules Charlo should get the fight but ignore WBC rampant corruption and rules that are made on the fly and up for sale that led to charlo position in the first place. We can look at ring magaizne rankings for 160 and see Charlo hasn't fought any of them. We can look at boxrec computer rankings and see that Charlo hasn't beaten a top 10 ranked Middleweight matter fact as of right now he has a single win over a top 20 ranked middleweight. Following belt orgs especially the WBC doesn't lead to the best fighting the best.
Charlo was the best at 154 according to the WBC.
Charlo beat the guy who was #1 at 160 according to the WBC.
So Canelo should have been ordered to fight Charlo by the WBC.
That's the bottom line according to their own rules. The other orgs don't come into this because they have different rules.
Again, if you want to blow up all the alphabet groups and start over that's fine by me. But in the meantime the least they should be expected to do is stick to their own rulebook.
Charlo was the best at 154. He then fought the WBC #1 contender at 160 and beat him.
Under the existing rules he did earn his spot.
If you want to talk about getting rid of all the sanctioning bodies so that there is only one that all fighters get ranked by? And about improving the way fighters are ranked? I would fully support that as well.
But within the existing system Charlo followed the rules and the WBC should have ordered a mando. Let's have some transparency in the sport instead of constantly moving the goalposts when it suits us.

Don't avoid my point did Charlo fight the best to become mandatory yes or no? You prove my point the man who was considered number ranked at WBC was heiland a bum that nobody accepted as even a top 30 ranked middleweight of the world. You defend him being mandatory but refuse to acknowledge the corruption and joke of the WBC ranking that led Charlo to gain that mandatory in the first place. You said best fight the best that doesn't exist in these rankings Charlo didn't haven't fight the best, while canelo refusig to acknowledge belt orgs just fought the universally accepted number 1 and 2 Middleweights of the world after already beating the lineal middleweight champion of the world. Canelo is alreay fighting the best of the best.

Charlo was the WBC champion at 154. When he moved up to 160 the WBC gave him a fight against their #1 contender because of that. Charlo won.
Nothing out of the ordinary there. People need to stop crying about it just because they favor Canelo or hate Charlo/PBC.
There's a bunch of other things wrong with boxing that revolve around putting money above all else. I try to voice my opinion about those too and express what I think the right way is to handle them.
Because at some point people have to care about more than just money.

Canelo just shows that politics and money are still a huge part of boxing's underbelly. It's really a shame when a prestigious sanctioning body decides to offer him a "Franchise" Belt and award the regular title to Charlo. It's a political move and shows clear favoritism. I mean, what the heck is a franchise belt? Is it the WBC's version of a super belt? Does that mean Charlo's belt is not a secondary title? Smh.. These are the sad aspects of boxing but it's not just Canelo so let's be fair when criticizing the move.
The problem is you are assuming the belt orgs are mandating and ranking fighters properly in the first place so you have the best ordered to fight the best which we both know for a fact they aren't. You have guys ranked that are not even considered top 30 ranked for the division like the 1 legged stiff that Charlo had to beat to become number 1 ranked by the WBC in the first place. FACT Charlo hasn't even beaten a top 15 ranked middleweight and the best guy he faced was a late replacement Korobov who many feel he lost to.
GGG fought nothing but mandatories and top ranked guys dictated by the belt orgs and his resume is considered a joke because of it because the truth is almost none of those guys were even considered top 10 Middleweights and there were tons of better fights fans were demanding he make. Canelo has already fought the best he has faced every top guy the fans called for him to fight now if he refused to do that and simply defended his belt according to who whatever belt orgs he had at the time his career would not be the same and fans would of lost out on much better fights.
We can't scream at the belt orgs and rankings, and system for generating mandatories is corrupt and stupid and then at the same time say guys like Floyd and now canelo should rip up their network contracts, sacrifice millions letting a belt org tell them who to fight and then dictate things like purse bids and financial splits on them. You know how much less money Floyd would of made if he had to give up standard 70/30 split which is the lowest amount the champion has to pay the mandatory by WBC purse bid rules and the Challenger can be entitled to as high as 40-45% depending on the situation. You think Floyd after working as hard as he did to get to top and bank major money as the cash cow was going to give up 30-45% of his money to a mandatory that isn't bringing shyt to the table? When he could fight a better fighter that more fans wanted to see and pay him a fraction of that money. Because a flat fee of 5-10% of a Floyd fight is more then 30-45% of every regular fight. You would have to be a idiot to give away that kind of money and negotiating power away. Which is why you Floyd, Oscar, Sugar Ray Leonard and now Canelo are bigger then these belts and mandatories. I trust all these guys to make relevant fights over any belt org today. They are all corrupt and flawed.

Another great comment of this man
But, most of the people is stupi.s
It's not just him. Superstars tend to get that treatment. Look at the favorable judging, reffing, etc AJ was getting until Ruiz knocked him out. Canelo does seem to get a lot of extra help and special treatment though.
And, for the record, it's cheap to say he'll "fight anyone" if he's calling the weight for all those fights.
Sugar Ray Leonard won two different titles (168 and 175) in the fight vs Lalonde
And nobody is crying about that
I'm just standing up for what's right.
In the NFL you don't see the Dallas Cowboys not having to play against the best teams just because they're less popular than the Cowboys.
It's the same in any other top sport. Boxing should be the same way.

Again boxing top money maker for the last like 4 decades reached a point where they stopped fighting mandatories. Floyd went basically a decade after fighting Oscar not fighting a single mandatory. If you crying now where were you when floyd didn't fight mandatories, or Oscar, or Ray Leonard? Meanwhile for the most part all the fights fans asked for these guys gave you. These belt orgs can't force these guys to fight and realize they are bigger then their belt so that's why these belt orgs break their own rules and create new rules. I would get upset but look at Canelo's record he fights the best he has fought every fighter the fans have demanded and asked him too. That's how you keep these guys accountable not by crooked belt orgs like the WBC and who they say to fight.

Canelo should have been forced to honor his mandatory or else vacate the title. Not been given a new bullshit franchise belt that Sulaiman pulled out of his ass.
So the answer is yes. He can keep on fighting bums while waiting for Alvarez. I see. Play blame games for years and you're okay with it. I see.
Any legitimate sport (or society for that matter) has rules that everyone has to abide by.
No one can be above the law.
Once you start giving certain individuals preferential treatment there's a breakdown in integrity. We as fans should not condone that if we care about the health of the sport.

In theory this sounds true but it doesn't actually happen. Once you reach a certain level you are flat out bigger than mandatories. You have big network contracts and money on the line it's kind of ridiculous to expect these guys to rip in network deals, go to a purse bid to fight a rival network fighter and take less money to fight guys that most of the public isn't asking them to fight. It's why Floyd after he fought Oscar and became the biggest star in the sport went almost a full decade without fighting a single mandatory. He was allowed to hold the WBC belts 4 years without them ever ordering a mandatory. And before him Oscar was the biggest star in boxing and you have to go back to the 90's when he last fought a mandatory. He fought the entire 2000's until he retired in 2008 without fighting a single mandatory.
It's why Bob Arum is applauding the WBC new Franchise Status and he hates Golden boy and Canelo but he wants Loma and other guys he has to get that status next. And you wait Haymon will try and get Errol Spence or Wilder that status as well.

Charlo was already Canelo's mandatory.
Popularity and making a name for himself should never have been a factor in him getting his rightful shot.
Mandatories are always implemented eventually, as long as the sanctioning bodies stick to their rules.
In this case the WBC decided to invent a new rule out of thin air, though. So that Canelo wouldn't have to face his #1 contender.

You don't get it. You know damn well mandatories are not always implemented. You can't keep on relying on one fighter to make a name for yourself. Your dad's popularity can't just be transferred onto you just because he's your dad. What you do is say to yourself, "Fk all these superstars ignoring me, I'm gonna make a name for myself by fighting the other top guys in the division."
Man, this guy hasn't fought anyone in the top 5. There's Derevyanchenko, Jacobs, Sulecki, Lemieux, Saunders, even N'dam will do.
