WBC Decision makes sense. Think about it.

Not justifying it. Just understand what the WBC is saying... Once a boxer becomes a superstar you cant control him. You cant do anything other than strip him. If they start stripping superstars of their belts who are the actual best boxers...do we really want to see guys with belts around their waste knowing they didn't fight the best? Why post about it? Morris Silly man is in love with Canelo. Its as simple as that, he wants to get into his underwear. Canelo cant be bothered with a no name loser like Charlo he would rather be in big fights against big names. So rather than push Canelo to "please fight your mandatory" they have given him his own special belt, yes another one, so they can get around upsetting Canelo. On top of that they now can get a nice little sanctioning fee for every fight of the rest of Canelo's career.

It makes sense to you. I think it is total BS. This franchise title is useless and unneeded. Canelo can do what he wants and nobody can make him do anything but special titles shouldn't be made up just for him, If he doesn't defend his title he should lose it just like any other champion. He shouldn't be untouchable and above the rules. The IBF and WBA don't take orders from the WBC. If they think Canelo is not being a proper middleweight champ they can strip him of their belt. dude you're too butt hurt about Canelo to have a logical discussion about him or this topic. This topic isnt necessarily about Canelo but about superstars and how once they become PPV Stars they are out of anyone's control in boxing. No one tells them what to do. Not like the UFC where no matter who the baddest most popular man is, hes fighting for thr UFC title. In boxing, the boxer can just go tell the WBC, IBF and WBA to **** off.

I fail to see how your explanations justifies what they did, or could change the average boxing fan's perspective about it. You're saying: "Canelo is bigger than belts and sanctioning bodies, he'll fight whoever he wants." Ok, cool. So he can drop the belt if he doesn't want to fight the mandatory. Sure, it makes sense that they would do anything to have him keep a WBC belt because they want sanctioning fees and advertising from him, but that doesn't justify the decision, they're still changing the rules for one person so they can make more money, and still kowtowing to a fighter when in theory a sanctioning body should not be beholden or even closely associated with any fighter. We all get why they did it, it's obvious, but it's fucvking stupid and crooked and the WBC AND CANELO deserve every bit of hate they get for it. Not justifying it. Sanctioning fees is the reason they did it! if canelo had any integrity he would have told them to go kick rocks!

Its the fact there are 4 sanctioning bodies which brings about this insanity IMO. The fact they are all basically private companies trying to make money doesn't help. If there was only one it could take all fights into account and you wouldn't have these no names mondos. Tennis, Golf, Soccer, Cricket, Athletics, basically every other major sport has figured it out. Professional boxing has such a long shady history I guess everyone is just conditioned to the obvious corruption and absurdity.

That’s true only if DAZN has written themselves a contract that does not protect their own interests. That seems unlikely to me. That is a good point. I've wondered about the DAZN contract and how that works. I still think Canelo somehow will call his own shots

He can fight who he wants, when he wants, and it won't hurt his bottom line one bit if the strap isn't there. Mauricio knows who his daddy is... I used to be a big Canelo fan but he has become so arrogant and superior that he is nothing like the Canelo of a few years ago. Now he tells a champion he just barely beat that he must win a belt to fight his royal highness. He clearly was not going to fight him belt or no belt. He has become a nasty sht pushing opponents around at the weigh in and talking down to them. I don't think he is training as hard as he used to. He thinks he is so good he doesn't need to. I think a loss is coming his way real soon.

I was just as pissed about the WBC naming Canelo "franchise champion". As if the belt situation wasn't ridiculous already, adding this new name designation only helps feed the hate towards Canelo who never asked for this... Ok no problem. So they strip Canelo or whatever new superstar boxer at the time for refusing to always listen to his mandatories....good luck if you have more than one belt btw. So now you have two guys fighting for a belt without the top dog in the conversation. Lame Oscar, Pac, Floyd, Canelo etc become top dog because they're always winning, which means more people tuning in, which in turn produces a superstar with all the power and leverage to do as he wishes.

But the fact is Charlo is going to be World Champ after beating a no name and getting a gift UD in his previous fight. Canelo earned that tittle and should just keep status as a regular world champ now Charlo has the belt when he has not deserved it his resume at 160 is weak and he should not be champ.

There was already a mechanism in place if Canelo didn't want to defend against a mandatory that no one ever heard of. It's called dropping the belt and no longer calling yourself the champion. Exactly This is a dick riding to a groupies level just so they could attach their name with Canelo

No like I said in another thread they could just give exemptions or name him emeritus champion but they can't make sanctioning fees from that It's a joke and it's not something earned it absolutely devalues the WBC title and there is no reason for it
