I like Yarde but he wouldn't win the British title so he shouldn't really be mandatory for a world title.
WBO rankings are an utter joke and make a mockery of the sport IMO.
I would have agreed immediately after the first Alvarez fight but in the rematch Kovalev showed that he isn't done quite yet. If he fights smart again, Yarde may be in for a long painful introduction into the big leagues.
You make these predictions and bets and you are usually wrong. Kovalev is a damn good light heavyweight champion with many KO wins and his chin is decent. I believe he will be the one KOing Yarde.
Kovalev and McGirt are both in Russia presently.
Announcement will probably be made soon. Maybe the point is to fill the arena with Russian fans?
Well, Hassan N'Dam had been training to fight Golovkin... That's what boxers do: they train and they fight.
Well, it's possible, but we don't even know for sure what the real problem (or even problems) is. Yarde was promised a lot of money (allegedly from 4 to 5 million dollars) for this fight, which a Russian oligarch (Igor Altushkin, most probably) was supposed to pay. Maybe he's having second thoughts about it...
That’s a lot of money
Especially to give to a greenhorn
He hasn’t fought anyone elite or remotely close to it
No chit he’s willing to go to Russia
If nothings been announced yet couldn't they just push it back a few weeks then?

Definitely possible, Yarde is certainly a big banger. Just depends how he copes with someone who is looking to outbox him, if Kovalev fights smart like he did against Ward, I find it hard to believe that Yarde beats him. Kovalev prove that he is Wards equal, I don't think Yarde is anywhere near that level but he has a good punchers chance.
I like Yarde but if the fight happens (which I think it won’t) Anthony gets stopped and probably ruined afterwards.
It’s one thing to have the tools and it’s another thing to actually know how to use those tools at the highest level.
He’s way too green and the Russian hits way too hard.
Well, just a simple fact — it is scheduled for June 29 but hasn't been officially announced yet. Just dead silence... And fans (let's say British fans) need time to get a Russian visa, to book hotels, to plan the trip, etc.
Also, Kovalev is still not enrolled in Vada and the Yarde camp usually demands 12 weeks of full Vada testing.

Didn’t know it was scheduled for June 29
I always doubted this fight would take place especially in Russia
Plus Yarde is green as fugh imo
Care to explain
I second that.

Yardes wins this easy work, I don't know what anyone who sees different is seeing. Hopkins was finished when he took kov the distance, ward didn't have the power to keep him off yet managed to beat him. What's kovalev guna do when he starts feeling body shots from yarde, I'll tell you what, he'll jack for the third time in his career
Kovalev has been in with Ward, Hopkins, Pascal.
Yarde has no experience that even comes close, he has beaten journeymen and club fighters FFS.
Given that all Yarde has is some power but no real boxing skill or ring-craft I predict he will come up VERY short.
