Gary Russell Jr met with Eddie Hearn. Signing with Matchroom/DAZN??

Eddie Hearn plans to make a formal offer to Gary Russell Jr. in the next week or so. Believes Russell will stick with PBC "if Al (Haymon) provides him with the (Leo) Santa Cruz fight...I think he'll take that fight and then there won't be any discussions to be had (with us)."— Sean Nam (@seanpasbon) May 31, 2019

I don't see his activity changing much with his Brittle Hands and him seems to want to just sit around and wait for big fights instead of staying active Gary Russell Jr fights once a year because Gary Russell Jr wants to fight once a year, NOBODY held him back. Maybe because of his Brittle Hands he wants to preserve himself for big matches but it is hard to make big matches and build up big matches when you're SO Inactive. He could've easily fought 2-3 TBA's a year until he lands that big fight but instead he just fought once a year DAZN wouldn't be a bad option for him and ESPN/Top Rank would also be a good alternative but of course Arum is not going to just let him fight when he wants

Dont see the sense in potential matchups on DAZN, but more power to him if he can get paid more. Also have to think this is a possible bargaining tool to get the LSC fight

If the PBC doesn't have enough time slots or dates to give him then why not? He wants to stay more active as a champion and personally I can't blame him. I love seeing Gary Russell Jr fight. He has a crowd pleasing style. I think he is an underutilized talent.

Well if he has been promised LSC like he says he's been and Haymon hasn't delivered then he should leave That's fair. If he's calling out Santa Cruz and they won't give him that fight then he is better off leaving.

Who cares? He’s been a shell of himself since losing his 0. Way too much wasted talent. There are 4 other Gary Russell’s to focus on now. Juniors time is done.

To me is looks like Gary only has a one or two good fights left in him. He has looked vulnerable as of late. Inactivity is a bad thing. Maybe a change of venue will re-energize him though.

And why would this be a "major signing" for Hearn anyway? In terms of popularity Russell is about the same level as Demetrius Andrade, or Tevin Farmer. Not exactly a superstar.

He should sign with Top Rank not Matchroom. That would be a better fit for him. Russell vs Farmer would be a good fight though.

The better opponents for him are with PBC or Top Rank. Not that he fights them at PBC anyway, doe.

Santa Cruz, Warrington, and Rigo are with top rank? Warrington is with Frank Warren who works closely with top rank. Top rank also has valdez and frampton at 126. Ito and berchelt at 130.

He should fight Rigo before he leaves Haymon.
