Mikey actually withstood the majority of flushed shots from Spence and wasn't even marked up he was getting hit clean too with hard shots from Spence. I was shocked myself.
this kind of rationale is exactly why Ernie Shavers was lauded the hardest puncher of all time by all the guys that took his power and beat his ass.
men get butthurt by guys that dominate them.
Why do middleweights and super middleweights who spar against Spence come out and say he hits very hard and is extremely strong?
One I can think of off the top of my head is Rob Brant. Brant has a great chin on him too if you've done your homework you'd know this. He called Spence a monster.
Spence’s sparring partners definitely talk sht, one guy said he never felt someone hit so hard, another said he has light heavyweight power. Spence isn’t even close to hitting as hard as matthysse. Acting like he’s some monster puncher is a joke.
Spence has very good pop, and he definitely hits harder than Lipinets, but his power is definitely a bit overrated as of late. Also , not to mention. Spence is kind of a d bag when it comes to sparring, most guys don't try to kill each other in sparring, while Spence does, so of course they're going to remember him. Like, i'm one of the few people that still believe in singular shots that Thurman hits harder than Spence, and Bundu said the same thing.
Mikey is obviously going to say Lipinets hit harder, whether he did or not. Because he won, and it sounds much better to say that you beat a guy that hit harder than the guy you just lost to. He's never going to admit that not only did Spence walk all over him, he's also going to credit his power.
Mikey shouldn’t be able to say Spence’s name in public without permission. Mikey had his manhood taken then has the audacity to throw shade? Mikey, you’re classier than that.
You said it, no one else did. You're calling him that. That's harsh.
I see you swerving to MISS the point of the sarcasm, lol. Spence whooped that a** in front of everyone, can't spin that.
Spence is the hardest puncher of all the welterweights with a great 85% KO ratio and he KOed the last ten guys he fought before Mikey including Algeiri and Bundu who had never been KOed.
I have a hard time believeing that Spence doesn't punch as hard or harder than Lipinets, but lets consider this. Garcia was moving up to 147 pounds for the first time against Spence. Against Lipinets it was his second go at 140 pounds. The jump from 135 to 147 is much bigger than lightweight to junior welterweight which is just five pounds. Garcia was essentially moving up 12 pounds to fight Spence. But it's not an easy jump even if you're talking single digit weight jumps.
Alex Ariza put it best, the body is like the vehicle and the fighter mind is the driver. The team around the fighter has to work on getting the vehicle ready to go at its maximum capacity. What happened to Garcia wasn't that Spence necessarily hit so hard, but rather it was an indication that the driver was there but he simply couldn't get the much bigger vehicle what he wanted it to do. Garcia had no business at 147 in retrospect at least not that soon and let alone against the boogeyman of the division. It was admirable, but definitely a tough task to overcome.
So Mikey lost 12 rounds to a pillow-fisted guy, while jis corner was telling him they were gonna stop it (for his safety)?
I wonder why his corner thought he was taking too much damage?
You said it, no one else did. You're calling him that. That's harsh.
Man I don't Hate any Fighter but I'm really starting to dislike Garcia.
Just take your loss like a man and stfu about power when he had you worried for 12 rounds not to exchange.
Ggrrrll hope this doesn't turn into hate..
You are saying mikey had no plan B and was perfectly fine with losing 12 rounds to a guy who couldnt hurt him simply because he was out of range.
Not true. Mikey could have tried to get in range but that takes risk and he refused to take those chances because of spence's power.
I’ll take his point over yours. Spence’s “power” was a belief and also a fear for Mikey going into the fight. It just turned out that Mikey realized that the “power” is not good enough after the fight and it was too late already.
He thought Spence is gonna walk him down and break him down. Didn’t happen. Spence boxed him 12 rnds Mikey didn’t expect that.
spence was damn near running from garcia and didnt throw a body shot for 6 and a half rounds
of course mikey can say this,,,!!
both looked like clowns!
I guess you don't have to hit hard to embarass Mikey and bust him up. He had trouble putting his thoughts together after the fight, lol. Can't wait for the rematch. Oh? That's right ... nobody wants to see a rematch. LoL.
Algieri also said Pacquiao was a better puncher than Spence, he said spence is not a one punch guy but he is sharp and makes sure to hit you a lot to take you out but Manny has shocking power he said Manny touches you and changes up his power and then will throw a shocking powerful punch off of some light touches. I think this is why people are cautious with Manny he mixes up his punch volume and power not every shot is power, with Spence he loads up but you cover up instead because his arms are so long you wont be able to back out fast enough to avoid it so he breaks you down with loaded heavy shots.
I don't think Spence loads up. He throws hard enough but he relies on being super accurate and throwing hard sharp shots round after round until he breaks you down. Algieri had the best breakdown saying Spence is hitting you with 70-80% power on every single shot. A guy like Pacquiao is definitely more explosive and so is Thurman, at least early in fights.
You're assuming Spence turns to a complete, stationary punching bag if Mikey had moved closer to him. The close Mikey moved in, the further Spence moved away.
You have to have boxed in order to understand what was going on I guess. It's not something that words can explain to the average boxing e-expert.
