Ive seen it promoted more. Hard to promote a fight when you're really only doing it on your own streaming platform that nobody has yet. this fight went up against an NBA play off game. Dumb scheduling lol. hard to get as many people to watch when you do that. dazn is still growing it will only get bigger.
great anecdotal evidence but do you think it did an 8 million live gate like canelo-jacobs? i think they would rather take the money than the anecdotal popularity. just imho
You cant compare anyone to Canelo's draw in the US. Where did I say its going to turn a huge profit? Im talking about talk show, social media, sports media exposure. Sho All-Access is still the best there is, they had ads on NBA games and the big ad break during the NBA draft. Wilder was all over ESPN this week despite being PBC/Showtime. I would disagree, hardcore fans on here are probably more "meh" about this than casuals who will probably tune in expecting a highlight KO
My point is you can't say something was promoted well when the venue literally can't sell tickets and showtime is losing millions on this event. They will not cover the costs of Wilders purse. The only time ESPN mentioned him was in a negative way condemning him for saying he wants to kill someone they barely even mention who he is fighting let alone care. Them mentioning his comments hasn't translated to promotion for the actual fight and the ticket sales prove that.
Casual fans dont care about this fight and folks pretending otherwise sound like GGG fans leading up to his Lemieux and Jacobs fights until the PPV numbers came out and reality hit. This fight losing money just depends how much Wilder is stealing from Showtime who were forced to overpay him to prevent him from going to DAZN.
wilder had to stoop to unheard of levels this week trying to remind people he still exists
,, that usually means tickets arent selling!!
yet there are certain morons think this is a good promotion because they thought they heard wilder's name while getting their bowl hair cuts . lol!
Promoted better? they havent sold any tickets lol And this is despite dirt cheap ticket prices they are giving them away for free. The venue is scaled down already expecting a low turn out and still there are thousands unsold tickets. The venue legit might be only 1/3 full today. Some people on this website are delusional nobody outside of hardcore boxing fans care about this bout.
This fight is losing money for Showtime but better that then put it on PPV and embarrass Wilder when nobody buys it.

Lol one was clearly the better fight, but this one has been promoted WAYYYYY better. And like him or not, Wilder's fights are always fun to watch

Wilder is not some unknown dude at this point and there is drama in the fight with their history and the body comment. Also Wilder hurts people and Breazeale has no defense so there should be action, and Wilder is not some craftsman so there is a chance he gets hurt also so with there being big stakes down the line Wilder is putting a lot on the line with his known flaws.
What is there to not get? Action, drama, possibility of a train wreck, American heavyweights that are both chirping. One fight was obviously better but what did Canelo and Jacobs actually do to sell the fight and make people care about it beyond being a pretty good fight (on paper).
People can lie all they want but there was zero talk of the canelo fight the week of
Lmao exactly. I overheard a customer in AT&T talking about the Wilder fight with the employees. This fight will also be 10x more exciting
uh no. The only "hype" is coming from Wilder's stupid "I want a body on my record" comments. The fight itself doesn't actually have much hype around it and that is reflected in the ticket sales.
Idk, Canelo-Jacobs didn't seem to have that much mainstream buzz although it probably should've. Meanwhile I've heard talk of Wilder on ESPN like 5 times this week, so ESPN is hyping. It's false hype tho; it's she-said-this hype more than the appeal of the bout....they have literally said nothing good or competitive about the fight itself. And maybe that's okay for the people making money on the fight, but for the rest of us, wtf does it matter??? What am I celebrating again?
People will watch, but hardcore fans don't care - this is barely worth streaming with WBSS on the same night.
This is like GGG fans that would say this nonsense on the eve of GGG PPVS sounding foolish when his PPVS would draw like 1/10 the amount of buys, live gate etc of Canelo. I think some people judge by how many articles and threads there are on boxingscene and think that translates in the real world. It's been proven it doesn't. Wilder fight has done horrible at the box office they literally giving away mass amounts of tickets for free. No casuals are talking about this fight except for Wilder saying he wants to kill a man and getting condemned for saying it. They don't know who he's fighting or care.
Hell no. Not even close. lol
For example you do realize there are thousands and thousands of tickets left unsold on Ticketmaster and the fight is in a few hours?
