Hahahah!
Jordan Gill, the next great Friday night hypejob in the UK. All week they've been talking about Gill fighting, and beating, the likes of Gary Russell Jr. and Leo Santa Cruz. Just got totally schooled and battered around the ring by a real Mexican warrior. Gill in his post-match interview: "I had food poisoning doe!!" Said he felt like he was gonna poo himself every time he got hit to the body. He got hit to the body a lot. :lol1: Muchas gracias Enrique Tinoco!
But nobody was hyping him???
I don't even really know who Gil is.
It's just some tramp with an anti-British agenda.
Gill has been hyped by Coldwell and his stable, but no fans have jumped on that bandwagon at all.
Is every prospect a hype job now?
I'm a Hardcore boxing fan so I'm familiar with Gill but I've never seen any threads about him on this forum. I know Eddie had high expectations for him and of course his trainer Dave Coldwell spoke highly of him but I never seen any real HYPE for him
As for him losing today...all he can do is comeback stronger but young fighters need to focus on WTF is in front of them and stop looking so far ahead. He was talking about Ryan Walsh being a massive fight and all that and Tinoco came out and put a Beating on him and ruined EVERYTHING for him. Now him and Coldwell have to go back and figure things out. He is on that backfoot way too much, reminds me of a Lee Selby actually
Same. Though I only saw him once, I never, ever heard him talked about on here.
I hate that there's this mentality in the sport that fighters are finished after their first loss. Fans are poisoning their own sport and doing it with a big, dumb grin on their face. They're ensuring that rising stars avoid challenging fights and take no risk.
Fans bytch about the state of boxing yet they're the ones making it that way.
'Oh look at me everybody im kicking a professional athlete whilst hes down behind the safety of my phone/computer with my cheeto dusted fingers on my keyboard. '
News flash: That’s what cracks me up about you Brits. You get mad about your fighter losing to a Mexican bum so you brag about beating another Mexican bum.
Jordan Gill is not "my fighter" and I'm not mad about anything, nor am I bragging about anything. Just giving you a reality check regarding that silly comment you posted.
Lmao, I was just told he was a good prospect the other day by a Brit on here.
I was trying to tell them Mexican and American bums always wipe the floor with top British fighters, lmao.
More likely than not British A level = Mexican or American F level. With exceptions of course. The U.K. has a few excellent fighters.
Newsflash: In his pevious fight Jordan Gill KO'd a higher ranked Mexican than the guy he fought tonight in 3 rounds.
Anywhere where there is money and attention for boxing, guys will be generally overhyped.
UK fighters seem to pretty evenly fall into 3 categories imo - 1) you have the top guys who are more or less world class - Lennox, Joshua, Fury, Froch, Saunders.
2) second group who are good fighters and fluctuate a little bit with their performances - Groves, Eubank, DeGale, Bellew.
3) third group are guys who get hyped up for a second before they get blasted out - Liam Walsh, Liam Smith, Liam Williams. Basically anyone named Liam.

He was actually supposedly a decent prospect. He looked good in his last fight out when he whooped the other Mexican he fought.
No idea how good he actually is, he is highly rated by people in British boxing and that was the first i'd seen him fight in his last fight and the last Mexican he fought and beat was ranked much higher than the one from tonight it seems.

Agree. I think US UK and Mexico fighters will always be overhyped relatively speaking - all the money/fans/attention are in those 3 areas.
That being said the UK guys seemed to get overhyped the most, but as you said they do have some excellent fighters as well.
Mexico guys get a bit overhyped as well, but they also have some really gritty guys that are probably undervalued as well.
US get some guys overhyped at the high end imo, but in general most of them seem to be solid fighters.

Not sure many hyped him up that much? Appears he wasn’t well so all the best of having a few comeback fights and seeing if he can get to a decent level or not
