Stop overrating the past. Sick of fake boxing experts who never give floyd his credit but won't shut up about Duran beating Leonard, constantly reminiscing about the old legends.
Leonord was 24 and was only a champion for 7 months before facing a prime 29 year old Duran. Canelo was 23, unified champ and champion for 2 years before a 36 year old floyd.

There was an agreement, otherwise why would he choose to weighin a perfect 165 when his normal fight weights were in the 70s?
Was he so sick from making weight that he couldn't eat or drink, the only other explanation?
from BoxingScene.com (via Bad Left Hook):
Canelo said Mayweather tried to include a "rehydration clause" in the fight contract, where Canelo would be unable to weigh above a certain number on the day of the fight. Canelo, who rehydrates to more than 170-pounds on the day of the fight, rejected that clause.
"They came up with a second-day weigh-in. They wanted to do a second-day weigh-in and limit what I could weigh the second day, and I wouldn't agree to that. And then they tried to force me to stay quiet and to not mention it, and that's why we didn't say anything. And we haven't said anything until now," Canelo said.
there was no rehydration clause, where did you get that from?
The September 14th fight between WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) and unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) will have no rehydration clause in the contract for their catch-weight fight at 152 pounds, according to Steve Kim.
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is saying that the rehydration clause wasn’t included. What this means, of course, is that Canelo can rehydrate as much as much as he wants.

I forget what happened last week brotha I got that from some other poster who said there was a rehydration clause set at 165... but ok my bad I stand corrected, but still Floyd had fought and obviously beat others at the full 54 but made canelo come down to 52. It’s still a testament to canelo at such a young age against an atg don’t you think?

Canelo was a LITTLE green and this is coming from someone who thinks he and Sweet Pea are the best since ans including the class of 80.The truth is he was a little green, BUT its not like he is this whole another fighter. He has improved, but he had already faced tough(Rhodes,Trout) and big fights(Mosely)and had like you pointed out around 45 fights. The the OTHER big point though is Mayweather was 36 AND had been fighting for about 16-7yrs AND also fighting in his 5th and Canelo 1st weight div.Mayweather was farther from his peak in age and weight then Canelo, he was just that frickken good. Even if he does act like an azz outside it.
I care way more about taking those 2 lbs from him. Canelo is a tank lol
He would have lost anyway but that was one of the worst drainings ever and it showed
- -He was a scary shade of blue at the weighin, and let us not forget rehydration limit of 165 for the TUE fight.
Like Hagler for the Leonard fight, Oscar and Canelo gave in to every demand just to make what was to become the then biggest financial boxing bonanza in history, and the kid had just turned 23.
Leonard and TUE didn't enhance their reputations. They won the fight and purse battle, but they lost the war of public opinion, but they're so shameless it don't matter to them.

Can you explain what Canelo showed in the fight that makes it "one of the worst drainings ever"?
Since that fight, Canelo has continued to gas after the first half of fights. It's not something that's specific to the Mayweather fight. Canelo just fought Jacobs and as usual didn't throw punches after the 6 rounds allowing Jacobs to make the fight close.
To say a fighter was drained, means they weren't able to do what they usually do in terms of conditioning and durability. What exactly did Canelo do before and after the Mayweather fight that he didn't do in that fight?
- -You still cryin'?
Canelo just turned 23 and TUE 50-0 was still 35. Canelo had to wear Bayliss strapped to his back and go against TUE judges and drug testers not to mention turning blue on the scales from the catchweight multiplied by the 165lb rehydration clause and still finished the stronger fighter.
Sugar got the holy dog biscuits whooped out of him and had privately retired before being coaxed back.
Cry us a river over ancient history, will you?
For the pound for pound best at the time in mayweather to demand a catch weight and rehydration clause from a 22 year old that turned 23 during the promotion is a big testament to canelo and how much Floyd respected him. Canelo did the same with Jacobs only difference is canelo actually complied

It's not age it's development. Leonard was much more developed and primed at that point in his career. From winning the Olympic gold to being shot up through the ranks like Oscar De La Hoya, he was seen as the Ali 2.0.
Duran arguably was not in his prime at this stage too. Pushing 30 and having over 70 professional fights, it was understood that he was in the twilight of his career.
Despite having 40 something professional fights Canelo was still the epitome of green. I was hoping he'd show the tenacity and desperation of a Maidana or Duran to really throw the kitchen sink and adapt. At least find something that works. But he didn't and looked very one dimensional as Floyd comfortably cruised to a UD. Big respect to Floyd's performance considering being 36. Anyways, if JCC Jr and Wilder have shown us anything, having a big pretty resume never means you're an elite developed boxer.
Despite Canelo being green when he fought Floyd, I still think that the 36 Floyd then would still beat the Canelo of today. Canelo is a flat footed boxer puncher at heart. He's never going to be a brawler. Floyd is one of the best counter punchers ever. I don't see how it will go any different. Floyd's too cautious and effective. Canelo isn't smart enough to scrap a tit for tat style with him and commit to a bulldozing duran type of beat down. Canelo isn't really a killer.
No he wasn't. You can try to recreate the definition of that word all you want. It doesn't change the fact that Canelo was not "green" in any way, shape, or form.

Who gives a fck about the catchweight for multiple reasons
1. Canelo put the idea of the catchweight out in the media first, so why not take advantage?
2. Canelo has fought at catchweights south of 154 in the past and started his career at 147
3. At the end of the day, he agreed to make 152 so NO ONE can use it as an excuse.
Trout and Canelo were top 2 in the division and it was a unification. He established himself as #1 in his division. If you think its an "ok" win then you are just flat out wrong. It's as simple as that
The CW is of course an.issue as it means floyds not concerned with people making excuses to deny his win. Which is a concern in itself.
Taking everything into consideration, at the time it was ok as a win. Nel o established himself as one of if not the best in the division. But it wasn't a strong division at the time. Just because you are the best in your division doesn't mean your one of the best fighters in world. Nel o wasn't in.most people's too twenty pfp. He hadn't beaten anyone of note. Beating trout isn't a ticket to anything
Why are you going on a rant that has nothing to do with what I said?
Actually it does! The Excuses for Canelo is basically excuses as to "Why He Is Not Undefeated" meanings that fans overrate having that 0. So some of those fans use the "He Was Green" "He Was Weight Drained" to not just discredit Mayweather because Mayweather has that win over Canelo
Same as the people who bashedMayweather style but then turn around and praise fighters today who you can clearly see are influenced by Mayweather (INCLUDING CANELO). They get praised for their Hit and Not Get Hit Style but with Mayweather "He Was Boring!" :dunno:

Catch weight and nelo had beaten nobody. Trout was coming off of a good win over cotto but still trout was a nobody and little experience himself. And no PFP fighter
Plus nelo wasn't PFP top twenty even if you look at his resume at the time. He was outside top twenty. But just cos he was facing Floyd ring mag bumped nelo up ratings.
The win for Floyd it is what it is. At the time it is is ok win for floyd. And the win for Floyd won't look better the more nelo wins.
Each boxer is different and might peak at a different age. Duran did beat Leonard so what's your problem with that. Duran was the smaller man too. He was the former lightweight champion. Floyd deserves credit for a good win but not as much credit because he made Canelo fight him at a catchweight of 152 instead of the jr middleweight limit of 154 or no fight. In my opinion today's Canelo would slaughter the Mayweather that beat him when he was 23 and somewhat drained. Canelo has improved tremendously since Mayweather beat him while Leonard was already very near his best when he fought Duran. Two different fights involving different boxers.

No...Stop Overrated Losses as if fighters can't bounce back from them! Fighters protect 0's because you Sh#t fans want to bury these guys, call them overrated and stop caring about them when they do lose so some fighters just would rather not risk it :dunno:
