He is paid $36 mil a fight but since there is no PPV money it’s just a flat fee right? He should have stayed with hbo or showtime where he can get some of that PPV money. He is the biggest name in boxing and can easily break $75 mil a fight after PPV. So again I ask is DAZN bending over canelo with no lube?

For a fight like fielding, he is gonna take in more than he would if it were ppv. For a fight like ggg 3 he probably makes less than he would.
You have to take the deal they are offering unless you know you can make 2 Floyd/manny level events that bring in the same amount.

mm.. check your math. $75m @ $80 per PPV would have a breakeven of 937k PPVs. After the network and his opponent get a cut, he's walking out with ~$25m.
And there's nobody except for Golovkin at this time that he can sell 1m+ PPVs with.
So...no.

$35m is Canelo's US TV rights, yes.
Still, Alvarez has his Mexican TV deal directly through him, the money from the live event, his personal sponsors, etc.
Add everything together, and I have no doubt that Canelo is well over $50m.
Canelo and his camp looked at the landscape, thought about Canelo's next 4 years, and chose a deal that basically pays him for 1m PPV buys a fight in advance, without having any impact on the other business that Canelo has.
The only thing that Canelo is really missing is the build of his legacy that he could've picked up if folks actually got the chance to watch this coming run.
But he would still get his Tecate money and all of that if it was on PPV and wouldn't be capped
True the outside money is there regardless if it's PPV or DAZN just pointing out he is not a normal fighter he has his fingers in so many cookie jars then just the 35M per fight that comes from DAZN.
the question comes down to do you think there is upside to hit 2M and 3M PPV buys? Then you losing out on 100M+ for a single PPV but if your PPV flops, dips or it's a smaller name opponent that you know won't sell his pay is drastically less. For example maybe you do 300K for 1 of your fights and make only 15M. DAZN it don't matter at minimum they pay you 35M or more and you have long term security for your fights. With PPVs declining and pirating he is banking on the safe bet and not the unpredictable PPV model.
canelo's deal was 15 for rocky and 35 per fight for the next ten fights. but dazn only had the rights in certain countries. canelo is still making money from foreign rights, gate, sponsors etc
Exactly according to Nevada commission his fight night check was 35M this weekend but that's not all the money he will get once they are done counting all the revenue outside of DAZN like the live gate, merchandise, movie theater tickets, closed circuit, sponsor's, TV deals in countries outside of DAZN regions. He is getting paid way more then just what DAZN has to pay him per fight.
But he would still get his Tecate money and all of that if it was on PPV and wouldn't be capped
His fight purses aren't just set to 36M. Supposedly he made anywhere from 45-48M against Jacobs.

Also remember he has one of richest TV deals in Mexico on top of DAZN. He is also not so much as signed with Golden boy like a normal fighter but a business partner and co-promoter gets a cut of everything from his fights revenue and sponsor's. He is not walking home with 35M he probably taking 50 mil home from last weekend
That is just his guarantee he can make MORE then that based on subscribers and bigger fights they make. Golden boy confirmed that. But it gives him long term security because they can't pay him less then that per fight. So it takes the pressure off having your pay amount tied to having to sell big PPV numbers each fight to get paid. If a PPV flops or it's a lesser name opponent that doesn't sell as much his pay drops. but with DAZN he is always paid at minimum 35M and more for bigger fights but never less.
To make 35M under the old model you have to hit probably 800k-1M PPV buys each time out regardless of the opponents and in today's era with PPVs going down not a sure thing.
