Andy Ruiz Jr has agreed terms to fight Joshua

It won't work though. Just because Ruiz is Mexican doesn't mean he has a big fanbase. Nobody outside of hardcore boxing fans really knows who this guy is. Agreed, not all latino descent connects with them like that.

If Ruiz comes in at 240, he makes this a war.

Ortiz looks like a damn fool. And you can't blame it on Haymon. Ruiz also with Al Haymon and just got the fight. Ortiz's promoter lied to their own client and turned this fight down costing him millions lol

Andy was 262, which is in no way lighter/slimmer. That said I thought the same thing but the numbers don't lie. I see no avenue of victory here for Andy, though he's one of my favorite fighters, I would rather have seen Hunter. I think Hunter might have outlasted Joshua and finished him in the same manner he did Bakole. A title shot is never guaranteed- so I’m glad Ruiz seized the opportunity, even if he’s not completely ready.

Ruiz looked noticeably slimmer/fitter in his last fight - two weeks ago. And the timing for this fight couldn't be better for him. Ruiz is in decent (but not elite) shape and he can get right back into training camp after a good win over Dimitrenko. Having said this, I think Joshua is light years better than Andy and should have no problem breaking him down and scoring the KO. Andy was 262, which is in no way lighter/slimmer. Props to Ruiz for taking the fight. He's a legit top10 guy, most of them wouldn't considering taking it on such a short notice. It will be interesting, while I don't think Ruiz poses a large threat to Joshua, there's a VERY large chance that Joshua looks like absolute crap while winning most of the rounds.

Ortiz could have had this fight but he didn't want it. Give it to a decent fighter who is willing to accept a decent offer and actually fight and not just talk a good fight. AJ tried to fight Ortiz 1st so Ruiz is an acceptable 2nd choice to me.

Hopefully Hunter fights Povetkin That would be a great match up. I’d favor hunter by late fight TKO

This is lovely... Ruiz is a good fighter with fast hands. I thought he won that fight against Parker but it is what it is. He will make an exciting fight and could cause an upset if hez cardio is strong enought6to take him to the later rounds. Which ever outcome, hez getting paid handsomely. Eddie wasted precious weeks on that chicken Ortiz.

Very solid replacement as far as I'm concerned since Ortiz didn't work out.

Its as good an opponent as we could have hoped for at this point. Ruiz has always had nice hands for a HW, but I think he’s way to small and doesnt have the power to make himself a viable threat to AJ under any circumstances, let alone taking it on short notice when AJ has already been through the hardest part of his camp.

Ruiz is going to get hurt in this fight but at least he’s getting paid
