I believe the only way boxing can survive long term is for the stations to turn there backs on the sport.
It’s become a joke in most devisions with multiple title holders dodging each other and even contenders refusing to fight contenders once they make the top ten.
We need less weight classes and one governing body... what say ye?
It’s not that difficult. Do away with network exclusive deals and let networks and Streaming services bid on fights they want to make. Do this and instead of Hearn, Bob and Al preventing fights they will be encouraged to make the fights networks are willing to bid the most for.
it's difficult in a free market.
i would rather folks dont watch mismatches so that the low viewership will scare them to make more competitive fights. Loma last fight was a joke match-up. So will Joshua's next fight and Furys next fight.
I think it's headed that direction. When it gets to this point, it's inevitable and if you look, all the signs are there. HBO bailed, but yet we see these other groups dumping big money into boxing. Do you really think they're going to see their returns with divisions so fragmented between promoters, no significant championship fights on the horizon, and only 1 guy who pulls big numbers?
HBO saw the writing on the wall and pulled out. When the others end up having to scale back and make desperate moves for views, then you'll start to see good fights again.
It would have to, it would have to be something like the UFC that reinvigorates the sport. Just one huge sanctioning body, all promoters working under the same umbrella, one belt per division etc. no dodging no ducking, losses shouldnt be seen so negative, specially when fighters take many risks. But how will this be possible?
That’s exactly what I would hope for, it can’t happen until they totally shoot themselves in the foot 1st

I don't see how that would help. As a boxing fan I like to see fights. If no station shows the fights then I don't get to see the fights. How is that a good thing? I don't like all the different champions of the alphabet groups and boxers only being able to fight on one network but I have no solution for it.
