I really think he could. Like Floyd he has special talent and charisma and knows how to get people talking. The reaction to him "disrespecting" Magdaleno in his post fight celebration proved that. However unlike Floyd he actually goes out of his way to entertain inside the ring and his style is a magnet for casual fans. Casuals love to watch a fighter who brings the violence and can lay someone out unconscious, just like Mike Tyson back in the day. The sky is truly the limit for this guy.
What do you mean lasts? Teofimo isn't some hype job.
I mean his time in the spotlight wont be long.he might capture a belt or two.But as far as him being elite i dont see it.
Hell no! I think Lopez would’ve had big trouble against a Mikey Garcia at 135 while him Garcia vs Loma is either 60-40 Mikey or 50-50!
I think he’ll compete early but then Loma puts the breaks on his engine by literally taking his tires!
Floyd needs to get Tank a hold of Berchelt and Farmer for WBC/IBF for experience and both are winnable fights for him!
yes he will be but he will actually fight good fighters along the way instead of cherry picking like floyd. we know floyd would never have fought loma and lopez wants to. floyd is teling tank not to fight loma because he wants to turn him into a star by ducking. lopez wants to turn into a star by fighting. 2 different philosophies when it comes to boxing. lets hope the cowardly way doesnt win out again
Who is Teofimo Lopez? And why is he suddenly a boogeyman that Lomachenko is ducking?
Lomo haters need someone to cling on. I remember pre walters same guys were saying walters will beat lomo and then rigo and then linares. It's the new flavor of the year. After lopez it will be tank.
Like what exactly?
He got hit by a bum way too often in his last fight and he's very repetitive in his movements. You'll see when he steps up in competition. Lopez reminds me of broner. He's so hyped up and hasn't fought anyone in the top 10.
Lopez has a shot, given the amount of trash 45 talks about Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, he gives us national Exposure.
The key though and that’s what Floyd did, is beat everybody. Lopez has to beat Loma and Mikey Garcia yo even be able to shine Floyd’s shoes.
Not an easy task.
Doubtful. Besides Floyd's talents, there isn't a star of the caliber of Oscar that can propel him to the next level. Also, for a good chunk of his time on top there weren't many other fighters receiving mainstream attention. He and Pac were pretty much the only game in town for a while. Now you have the heavyweights making noise along with numerous fighters receiving promotional pushes from different platforms.
No
24/7 was new
Rivals Delahoya and pac were huge
Reality show is not new anymore and loma is not as high profile as delahoya was
Gonna take special circumstances to see stars of that magnitude again.

I think you are missing an important part-Floyd was the also the most talented and skilled boxer to go along with all the other intangibles you discuss. I don’t know that Lopez is the same.
It’s fine to just be charismatic and have the ability to attract a crowd. But if you don’t have elite skill eventually it catches up to you and you can’t beat the elite opponents. It’s like Broner- he can draw casuals but can’t beat top tier guys.
Lopez has great power and has a good team behind him but nothing we’ve seen to date suggests he is as highly skilled as Floyd so it’s not likely he reaches that level. I do think he can make a huge splash and draw like Tito, maybe possibly even Manny. I don’t see him on the Floyd, odh level.

He has to have co mega star who he seems to be ducking for years to be bigger than Floyd. You need a dance partner/rival
You need to milk it
A combination of admiration and hate
These are the current household names within the boxing community.#1floyd 2 pac man 3 Oscar 4 deontay 5 a.j the rest has work to do.and the rest been tainted over roid use, guys that you don't want representing the sport

Floyd used to beat guys up when he was young too. Teofimo is good. Lets see if his size is enough for 147.
I think a number of fighters can become as well-known with the right push and equally with their achievements inside the ring.
As for mimicking ppv numbers, that will be hard to do. Personally, I don't think ppv is worth it anymore and fewer people are going to be fooled by it. More and more people use the internet and more of them find ways to illegally stream fights. I mean I only found hd streams like last year....and I thought my stream game was decent. But had i known before...I wouldn't have purchased 90% percent of the ppv's I bought.
He's could be but no one can be certain at this point. Mayweather has a personality that people either loved him or hated him. The win over De La Hoya, talking to the HBO crew while he was fighting, the money, the cars, all that contributed to his celebrity status. The one thing that's different with Mayweather then and boxers like Lopez and Lomachenko to a lesser extent is the latter 2 seem like they're trying to get attention. Mayweather didn't seem like he was trying even though he was. Pacquiao also got a lot of attention without doing anything crazy. If Lopez is a compelling personality he can get there. If he's not, nothing he does will get him to Mayweather's status.
