In this article it said Showtime is going to pay Wilder more than the DAZN offer? Wilder says in the interview that he can't wait for the Joshua fight and says he feels the same way about Joshua like he does about Breazeale.
How much was Mayweather's 6 fight Showtime deal? I forgot what it was. I know Mayweather was a big draw at that point and proven on PPV. Just was wondering for comparisons sake.
How many of y'all agree or believe that Showtime has a bigger offer than the $120 million DAZN offer and do you buy or not believe what Wilder said that he can't wait for the Joshua fight. I mean they both have 1 fight. Wilder-Breazeale and Joshua-Miller. I am seriously hoping that we all do indeed get the Joshua v. Wilder fight next this fall sometime.
(IT'S A BOXING NEWS 24 ARTICLE THAT GOT BLOCKED)
It's their money. They can waste it any way they want to.
Of course, they're not making any profit from it.
So much stupidity in this sport. They're willing to lose money just to please an undeserving guy and to spite Hearn and DAZN.
FFS the simpleton hypocrite is back crying again. :crying:
Boxing is about money retard. No wonder you're thick as ****, nothing sinks in.
how much are you getting from this?
But that to me is still short-term. Canelo being the exception, those other deals are two or three years. What they are trying to do is increase their subscribers in the fastest way possible and build their brand without having rights to other top sports league. So what is the solution? Corner the boxing market with majority of the biggest names in America. They aren't going to build their brand with freaking cricket or racing or whatever the hell else they have. They will rely on boxing along with the MLB nightly show, but even that isn't likely going to do it. But showing MEGA fights like Canelo/GGG III and Wilder/Joshua could do the trick.
True I can see that reasoning. We'll see if that works.
So you think DAZN will be able to outbid Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Netflix, Facebook or Youtube(Google)?
I'd agree with that, but they're giving out these long term contracts to fighters that seem foolish. They're locked in to pay Canelo $365 million over the next 5 years.
GGG is getting paid at least $15 million over 3 years. They were about to pay Wilder $100-120 million for 3/4 fights.
They have to drastically beat the competition to keep up with the purses. PBC and ESPN can do that while still staying in the green.

Not when they acquire NFL right.

No, they are playing the long game here. Could they eventually adjust their boxing budget per se? Of course, maybe they start paying less for boxing going forward once they continue to add other sports. But they aren't just going to be a two or three year thing here. They have a worldwide operation and are here to stay. People confuse their boxing operation to their overall operation, especially worldwide. They will be spending MUCH more for other sports soon enough. Heck, they are already paying big bucks for a damn MLB nightly show that doesn't even air the actual games.

I was told by some that is a bad strategy though and DAZN shouldn't spend so much money trying to get rights to the NFL......
DAZN will be out of business soon with their strategy.

Yeah you are right. HBO was operating at a profit until they entered oblivion. SHO will follow suite if they are not careful and want to operate in an emotional model.

So this is what DAZN's offer would be in Showtime PPV sales. This is just to cover Wilders purse, they'd need at least double to pay Joshua too.
Breazeale - 20 mil = 570k
Joshua - 40 mil = 1.14 mil
Unamed opponent - 20 mil = 570k
Joshua rematch - 40 mi = 1.14 mil
= 3.42 mil PPV sales.
He turned down an offer worth 3.4 mil PPVs, Wilder is a retard.
Right...because there is no revenue from ticket sales, international TV rights or sponsorships.
Worthless post.
Which is bull****. The cable companies to take half the PPV revenue for a Showtime PPV.

Joshua isn’t surrendering the upside potential so should Wilder? The only retards are Hearn and Joshua for not making this fight 18 months ago. Fighting Parker instead of Wilder was completely pointless. Now it’s going to cost them a small fortune to get the fight done.
Winkel, Wilder, E-spin-oza, these clowns can lie about anything.
They could claim they're paying the bum-killer $300 mil and nobody will ever know.
All for the purpose of bringing down Hearn/DAZN.
Let's hope the IRS is listening and collect huge taxes from these mofos.
Showtime just so happens to be a subsidiary of the largest free television network in America which is CBS. So they have the deep pockets to make it happen if they want it to happen. $120mil is very little by today's standard as opposed to 2012 when Floyd got his six fight $200mil deal.
Still doesn't matter. If SHO can't take care of its business and decides to do the sisi kind of business, it will go the HBO way, no doubt about that.
No they didn't. Finkel said they can make a deal which could match or surpass the DAZN deal even without Joshua. There's no guarantees and it's extremely unlikely. Just BS they filled Wilders head with to stop him signing with DAZN.
Wilders side doesn’t want the fight on DAZN. They feel like they are leaving too much money on the table.
