I will make you this promise however; Ortiz will come in much better condition and in shape against Anthony Joshua than he did against Christian Hammer and that's a fact.
You are right when Ortiz struggled against both Allen and Scott under Matchroom; Many thought his career had reached the end of its course and were looking to write him off. However, they were wrong.
Just looked how he showed up and performed against Deontay Wilder. He damn near TKO him and probably would've TKO him had there been another referee.
So if Joshua sees Ortiz as cherrypick; He better beware and think again;' Because he is in for a rude awakening. I am not predicting an Ortiz victory but he is still very dangerous for an old man.
Moreover, he was probably just feigning in order to lure Anthony Joshua and other top contenders to get in the ring with him by appearing vulnerable in the ring, not training hard and getting him self in the best of shape against the 115th ranked heavyweight in the world.
Feigning seems a bit of a reach tbh, I think he is at that same stage in his career as Povetkin and Wilders lack of defence help make him look good just like Povetkin was getting the better of AJ for bit.
Shame that Ortiz's name has no value to it as I'd like to see him fight Povetkin before they retire just to see if there is much difference but there's no money there so it won't happen.
The same Ortiz that looked mediocre against Allen, Scott and Kaufman?
Maybe Wilder just makes fighters look better than they are i.e. Molina, Washington, Spzilka and somehow a 60% Fury look 100%. However to not be a complete hater, so far he has always got the job done which is all that matters when the dust settles. (close shave with Fury though).I will make you this promise however; Ortiz will come in much better condition and in shape against Anthony Joshua than he did against Christian Hammer and that's a fact.

AJ late
I think Ortiz is ageing rapidly. He'll cause anyone problems but I don't think he beats the big three at this stage (Wilder, Fury and AJ). Stylistically I feel AJ is most winnable though.
Joshua is the easy and obvious favorite under the circumstances. Ortiz appears to be showing signs of slippage and decline. Perhaps, it's due to time or from a lack of training.
In any case, he did not resemble the same Luis Ortiz as we all are accustomed to seeing. Joshua should win by unanimous decision or TKO stoppage because the last to go on an aging fighter is his power and chin.

It wasn't an headbutt.
You may be right. I have to go back and review the tape. In real time it appeared to be a punch but in slow mo it appeared to be a head-butt.

The issue i have with both fighters is their endurance, but given Ortiz's age i would go against him. Joshua would probably have a few issues with him but i can see him stopping Ortiz late on.
It was the punch before that made him go down. Keep making your excuses no big deal. Everyone saw Ortiz isn't as good as advertised.
:lol1: no it wasn't. I know you're saying it cause you hate Ortiz but making up lies isn't the way to go bro. It was a headbutt. There is no excuse to make, i'm calling it as it is. You're just trying to justify not liking Ortiz, it's cool bro. I know with you guys all roads lead to Wilder somehow
Seriously, did you even see the fight? What’s the attraction...AJ walks through 54 years old Ortiz in a round or two. Only Wilder fans think he’s a decent opponent.
styles make fights ortiz would pose some threats, i said aj would win what more do you guys want???? takam was a hard fight for him but not ortiz? i guess sir
AJ showed an ability to adapt vs. Povetkin and became the first person to stop him. It was an impressive victory.
Ortiz isn't as quick as Povetkin and isn't as difficult to figure out as Povetkin is able to move his body from side to side whereas Ortiz fights straight up and doesn't exactly move particularly well. AJ lands one straight right, which won't be too difficult, and Ortiz goes down hard.
this is all excuses. Ortiz was at his best weight since 2015, everyone but wilder fans acknowledge that. That was water weight. He probably cut between 5-6 lbs of body water during the week of the fight because he was so out of shape. You saw just how flabby he was around the midsection.
Wilder has made guys like molina seem formidable so no i don't take anything wilder does in the ring and compare to what joshua does. You have to be missing a brain to do that ? Well that's just an opinion and not a fact.
Christian didn't come to fight ? That's funny i must have missed the part where ortiz fell and was bloodied up . That fall came from a head butt and yes that was a good counter right hand that Christian Hammer landed that bloodied Ortiz' nose.
The only thing you said correctly was ortiz was spent. That's because he throws a lot of punches and hes not effective if he doesn't and he ate a lot of right hands,so against joshua with his pace and joshuas he doesn't last long at all. Its an easy fight for joshuas counter right . I never said that Joshua wouldn't be the favorite to win. All I am saying is that he would come in much better conditioning and shape the next time. Obviously he took Hammer lightly and paid for it dearly because he showed obvious signs of decline and slippage in his skills this time. His timing was off, he couldn't move out of the way of the counter right hands, he was gun shy and plus he was gassed.
If AJ went 10 with Hammer and was bloodied up losing the last rounds this forum would be telling him to retire and there's a bout 20 years that separates the two .Ha
AJ went 10 with Takam and was getting roughed up before ref saved him from the embarrassment
Same caliber of fighters
Ortiz stamina will definitely fail him at the later rounds and he brutally KOed just like wilder did.
Its the same result. The only difference is he will earn more money fighting AJ.
Ortiz called Joshua out last night. Who wins?
I think Ortiz can give Joshua trouble. He's big and a southpaw.
After watching Ortiz last night I would heavily favor AJ. The Ortiz hammer fight was very fun to watch. There were some interesting moments and hammer and AJ have nothing in common. But I can’t help to think that AJ would really shine with Ortiz in his current form. I think it would be competitive but can’t picture Ortiz coming up with a victory against AJ.
