4.5 million is a lot, thats almost as much as he made in the mayweather rematch, I dont blame him for coming back, its not like he is old or has major health problems, he just has to lose some weight. If he can really make 14.5 million for the second fight then that is a great deal too.
All these boxing app companies have new investor money coming in and are competing with each other. I think some will go bankrupt like the PBC. Boxing hasnt gotten any more popular but there is new money coming in. HBO left for a reason and Showtime has almost left. Theyre the ones with real hard data that isnt publicly available, they didnt see much money in boxing anymore.
He has to win the second fight to make the 14.5 millions money.
1.5M first fight
3M second fight
10M third fight
That's the contract.
He'll be making 147 in six months. And you all will be surprised but not me.
Why? Maidana was a 140 pounder that never had an issue making 147. In fact he had a bit of fat tissue. The man will be ok soon.
well he was like 165 on fight night and that was when he was fighting consistently and in shape.
He has sons, wife, ex wife, and people around him that should take some of his money.
Still, he invested some millions so he doesn't have economic issues. He gave part of his money to one of his best friends who happens to be a milionaire that has all kinds of business in Argentina. So, chino doesn't have any economic problems.
But he's probably bored and they are offering him a 4.5 millions guarantee (all he has to do is beat the first opponent, so he can get to the second fight) and 14.5 if he wins two. He doesn't even have to win the third.

Making 147 again will be a huge win in itself. I'll be very impressed if he can do that.

I'm going to leave your thread up overnight but then I have to take this down because we know dudes like Broner, Porter, Thurman, Spence, and Manny read NSB and you know we can't have them all moving up/down and vacating because they don't want to take a ride in an ambulancia after Maidana retires them with his fists.

30 more pounds and he'd be ready to start training for a boxing match, you mean. Something he hasn't done in 4 years. Dude needs 6 months to be in some sort of fighting shape.
Maidana should enlist the services of Tyson Fury to help him since Tyson far exceeded his comeback expectations. That is, if Maidana really has the drive that Tyson does, which could be a question mark.
fury is a HW with no weight class, and has very good boxing skills. but yes, if you're looking for a recent comparison to draw for inspiration, it's him.
Who knows? And why would he need to win all three fights? No one gives a shiet. Already good to have him back. Yes, they fight for money just like you work for money. I didn't know that, eh? You're too smart.
history gives us a very good idea. he's been inactive since 2014 and he'll almost surely never weigh a healthy 147 lbs again. doesn't have a style for fighting bigger guys, all he will have is his power against 154 or 160 lbers.

We're not talking about Tyson Fury fat back when Tyson was fat. Maidana looks pretty solid here...

He drops 18 more lbs with cardio/diet and dehydrates 12 lbs for the weigh-in and he makes weight.
Maidana was always entertaining to watch...I'm looking forward to his return. He's still 5 years younger than Manny...I think he'll be ready for a big fight in a year no problem.
making it sound like losing 60lbs before starting proper training isnt a big deal :lol1:
i was never a big fan of maidana but i always respected and appreciated him. not really liking this move, he was one of those guys who clearly was happy to retire. wish he invested his money better.
He will lose the 30 pounds in 45 days maximum. He's a professional.

He is still very fat. I have always liked him and wish him well. He should keep losing the weight slowly and properly with diet and training. I don't think he should fight at 154 as he is a small welterweight and too small for 154 in my opinion.
I think Mayorga would be a good comeback fight for him. Winnable and not a dull moment for as long as it lasts. Then he can move up the food chain, maybe take a fight with Berto--winner gets a fight with Broner.
Sheesh. I'm sure that costs a bit. He doesn't seem like a foolish man with money, given where he comes from and where he lives. I'm sure he doesn't want to see that level of poverty anymore.
You're right though, if the money makes sense and he can hold up for 2-3 fights, I don't see why he wouldn't jump at it.
Nah its the ones who comes from poverty, gets money and dunno how to maintain it.
