The most underrated win in boxing history? Morales was coming off a big win over Pacquiao, was top 10 P4P and Raheem dominated him, schooled him for almost all 12 rounds.
Hell. Pacquiao would have slaughtered him. There is nothing magical or unbeatable about black American boxers fighting visiting fighters. They win some and they lose some. Pacquiao at age 40 recently came over here and beat the hell out of 29 year old black American Broner.Black American boxers can be lousy, average, good or great just like any other group of boxers of any race or country.
The truth is Pacquiao was kept away from Raheem and later on from Shane Mosley (until after he got old.)
Very selective matchmaking from a guy whose fans like to call others cherrypickers.
Raheem got a title fight right after he beat Morales and he lost to a boxer from Brazil. A few fights later he was KOed by a boxer from South Africa. So much for black Americans not losing to boxers from other countries. Raheem was a one hit wonder and not a Pacquiao beater. He did nothing at all after beating Morales to indicate he would beat the legendary Pacquiao. If he was good enough to beat Pacquiao who won world title after world title why was he unable to win a world title himself??????
OK? Tell that to Murad Muhammad
No but it's not like Raheem outmuscled him and won due to his superior size and strength. He completely outwitted and befuddled him. Skills won that fight, not size.
Skills and weight, you are not that fast in 122 or 130 that a natural 135 fighter. You power is not the same too.
It's a lot different
So, Morales was the same fighting in 122 pounds and 135?

Please anybody name one really good win that Zahir had after he beat Morales. I don't think you can because Morales was his only big win. He was just an OK fighter not an outstanding one and certainly not a Pacquiao beater.,
Of course he wouldn’t have beaten Pacquaio. He had an awkward style to overcome though for certain boxers. I felt he was jobbed vs. Juarez when Juarez was an up and comer. He fought Freitas close from what I remember too. These were all dull fights.

A lot of boxing fans and even boxing media people KNEW Zhair would beat Morales at the time. That was just a AWFUL stylistic match up for him, even Morales knew it but Morales being the fighter that he is was WANTED THE CHALLENGE. He said he wanted to test himself vs Raheem style they mentioned this during the fight so Morales knew himself. Many also thought Zhair Raheem style was wrong for Pacquiao as well and we find out years later that Pacquiao Promoter (Murad Muhammad) at the time purposely kept Pacquiao from Black American fighters like Raheem...Raheem got a title fight right after he beat Morales and he lost to a boxer from Brazil. Morales was always matched away from movers and slick stylists. I’m not saying he’s not great or that the Raheem fight was his prime but he did never fight a slick, defensive boxer who moves apart from Raheem.
It’s a combination of his promoter knowing he was box office vs. aggressive fighters and knowing that he’d have hell with movers and the fights generally don’t entertain much.
It was a great win. He probably did not get much credit because he never had any big wins after that and never became a high level boxer. He was a one hit wonder like Buster Douglas.
Weight had nothing to do with it. Morales got schooled that night by a faster and slicker fighter. Period.

“Check the record no foreign fighter is going to come to the United States and beat a Black fighter.” Muhammad said. “No Black fighter will allow for that to happen, that’s why I kept him away from them.”

It's only a couple of levels lower in surprisedness than Buster beating Tyson, IMO.
He won a belt against a boom like Cano
And he was a máster oficial boxing, thats the reason why he did a.good job. Against a básic fighter like Maidana
But his limit was 130 pounds
And his best weight was 122 , in that división he was a monster
I see no lies!!!! Though, it was Morales who wanted the Pac rematch at 135. Said he had trouble making 130.
Raheem fought great that night. Definitely his career best performance.
