I don’t see Thurman getting any better then prime 2014-16 Keith Thurman! Injuries & tough fights have taken a lot out of Keith Thurman. Technically and physically Thurman is declining. Errol Spence dog walks him & Bud Crawford outboxes him and makes him look silly. Keith still beats Danny Garcia & Porter again tho!
If he was SHOT he would not have made it out of that fight with the win just like Jorge Linares couldn't make it out of his fight and was stopped early
First fight back after 2 years off due to injuries I think getting in those rounds in and being tested like that is GREAT for him honestly.
Completely disagree but we shall see his next fight regardless if it is vs Pacquiao or the winner of Porter vs Ugas :dunno: if people think because of last nights fight that Thurman is all of a sudden a easy win then they might be fooling themselves. You still have to cut the ring off, you still have to respect him power he did put Josesito Lopez down and he once again showed a sturdy enough chin to get out of trouble and not go down and he was getting with some Big Shots that was popping his head back
Less bashing Thurman and more praise for Riverside Rocky! Josesito is relentless, he just keeps coming until that final ball. Looked like he could've went 15 Rounds if he had to last night of coming forward and chasing down Thurman. Look forward to seeing more Lopez, I would LOVE to see Lopez vs the winner of Omar Figueroa vs John Molina Jr, that would be an INCREDIBLE stylistic match up with either of them. Or give him a shot at the winner of Sergey Lipinets vs Lamont Peterson. He would be a big step up and test for Jamal James.
But against who? If Crawford had gone life and death with Josesito would you give him a pass? If Crawford did what he’d do to Josesito and KO’d him quickly would you give him a pass?
To be honest Lopez would be one of the best guys Crawford has fought and would probably give him a hard fight.
Plus, Crawford rarely KOs guys early and Lopez is real tough, so if that's your prediction I think you're way off.
Even Thurman's body looked completely different. I wonder if he had trouble dropping the weight. After a while his punches lost a lot of steam. Credit for Lopez being in his face all night, should went balls to the wall and finished Thurman.
I wouldn’t say shot but he’s not improved in years. He stopped improving when he started preferring a one fight a year schedule. He’d just try to bomb a dude out early then once that didn’t happen he sort of just gets on his bike.
Great response. You have all these people in the threads going full retard about "shot fighters" and what this guy would do based on what Thurmond did against that guy... Ridiculous, over inflated, hyperbole, fueled speculation that simply riles the casuals up.
You just made a very smart statement, I happen to agree with you on this. When fighters start tending the "0" they lose the ability to risk taking the L and learning in the process. Thurmond has been wasting his youth gaming the system rather than becoming a better fighter. It probably did show in this last fight, but to call the guy shot is ridiculous. It is the disease that afflicts a lot of the young fighters today. They fight like they did in the Ammys, they avoid tough fights...fights that would make them better fighters, and then when they get in a spot, they do not have the resources to make it look easy.
Ironickly sometimes the fighters know...and they could probably remain deluded and undefeated under certain circumstances. When Juan Ma was coming up I swear he looked like a mini Joe Louis! I thought that kid was going to become the next Tito for the island of Puerto Rico! Should he have taken that fight with Salidad?
That is a rhetorical question: Salidad exposed him and took his career, but if he does not take that fight, he would never know if his power was legit, if it carried up. You believe in alernative time lines? Somewhere is a line where Juan Ma does not fight a "hitter" until around now... things might have been very different, especially in the lower weight classes where he had the gift of power.
Problem with thurman is he cannot fight going backwards. All he does is circle the ring. He can't hold his ground in the center of the ring. Bundu backed him for 12 rds also.

After almost 2 years off, yes I would (besides Bud is better IMO). But in next fight I expect something bigger and better from either of them. Good entertaining free card last night
Yeah it's like he's regressed as a fighter. Leaky defense, relies on athleticism, and runs way too much needlessly. He seems to have a great understanding of the sweet science judging by interviews but his brain goes fleeing caveman when stunned.
If he does fight Spence (I have my doubts) I think he’d just try and run the whole fight. He hits hard, is fast, but he just appears either incapable or very reluctant to stand his ground.
He won the fight did he not?

OMG here we go again....he had a layoff.....Yall so fickle....and criticize dude for taking tune up. Wanting him to jump in ring with Spence etc. Smh.
Yes, being out of the ring for two years will effect any fighter.

Wtf Thurman didn’t even look that bad and imo he looked like he always does.
People are only saying that because of the 7th round. Plus Lopez is a problem for everyone he faced besides canelo for obvious reasons.
